Ac-dc Power Adapter - ac adapter, acdc adapters

In case anyone else is wondering this adapter's max output is 500mA or one-half Ampere. The item description does not mention this and I had to search the Internet to find out. Before ordering an AC adapter make sure it can output enough current to meet your device's needed. Ordered this from Amazon; it shipped and was received promptly. The item I received was brand new and preset to 110V. Upon testing the DC voltage output and polarity I discovered the output voltage DOES NOT MATCH the labeled values and was in fact twice the labeled values! Be very careful when using this product and test it with a multimeter before plugging it into your electronics. I don't know if this problem is specific to the item I received or whether it is common to all of this model. In my case I needed 12V but when I set it to 12V the measured output was 25V! I had to set it to 6V to make it output 12.5V. On the positive side the polarity switch is correct, the powered red indicator LED works and the unit runs cool to the touch. Can't attest to the long-term quality of the product as I've only had it for a day but may update this review later. Cables Unlimited AUD-6000 Universal AC/DC Power Adapter (Black)

Works great and as intended. I'll have many uses for this.

For now, I used the 9 volt connector and wired it to my baby's battery operated swing. This is a much better alternative to burning through 4-D batteries every other week or using rechargeable batteries that are AA in D clothing.

I've had one of these models for at least five years now, and have left it plugged in constantly for all five years. I use it to power a walkman that I listen to at night with headphones so as not to disturb anyone else, and a small model is better to keep on a nightstand than a full radio. The adapter works perfectly fine for the job intended.

It started getting kinda hot a couple years ago, but nothing I really worry about. Just keep blankets or other flammables away from it should you be worried about this. My only real complaint is the wire inside the plastic coating broke. Once it's been used so long and the cord bent so much, the wire just snapped. Now to get my walkman to work, I have to bend the adapter's cord at odd angles until the CD starts and then hope nothing accidently bumps into the cord forcing me to spend another 10-plus minutes finding that perfect angle to get it to work again.

As I said, I have kept this adapter plugged in constantly for the last five years, and having only paid 5 dollars the first time, I consider this a pretty good buy. Definitely plan on getting another one, probably two so when one breaks in five years, I'll have a replacement. This is a perfectly good adapter for use on small things, and stood up to constant use very well. I can't speak for anyone wanting to use this item on larger appliances, but for small things, I definitely reccomend it.

I bought this item to power a guitar wah pedal. I'm tired of switching out 9v batteries. Unfortunately it causes a terrible hum in the amp so I can't use it. I don't fault the makers of this item because I'm sure this isn't the intended purpose. It seems to be decently made and would work for other applications

Unfortunately this universal adapter was not so universal. I used to have one years ago and I could hook that up to my cd-player but this one didn't fit on a locally bought cd-player nor on old one I have from Europe. I wonder what everyday appliance works on it. And on top of it the casing of the power block was not straight.

A bit disappointing to say the least.

This item is for use when you cannot find your power cord to your laptop, or some other medium to small device. It is multi-functional and arrived when seller said it would arrive. It is a cord, what else can someone say about it. Just make sure it has the power you need for whatever you intend to use it for. - Ac Adapter - Acdc Adapters - Power Supply - Ac-dc

1 Tb External Hard Drive - firewire 800, external hard drive

Here's a crucial detail I couldn't find in other reviews before I went ahead and bought one:

Yes, my Mac (Mac Mini, vintage 2009, running Leopard OS 10.5.8) recognizes this drive as bootable, and I confirmed that I could actually boot from this drive, after cloning my original harddrive to this Iomega drive. I did not have to prepare the Iomega drive at all. I just used the free Carbon Copy Cloner software to copy my entire Mac's hard drive to the Iomega drive. No partitioning or formatting necessary.

However, there's a trick to booting from the Iomega drive: You have to keep holding down the Option key while your Mac starts up longer than you think you ought to. Keep holding it down even after you see your Mac's boot menu appear, which at first will only offer you your built-in original hard drive as the only option to boot from. Keep holding it down a few more seconds, until your Iomega drive pops up next to your original hard drive.

Why does this matter? In my case I wanted a total copy of my Mac before I attempted upgrading to Snow Leopard. To do that, in case Snow Leopard (or whatever experiment you're about to do on your Mac) hoses your Mac, you need to be able to boot up from your backup copy on your external hard drive, and then you can clone everything right back to your hard drive to restore everything the way it was. Iomega eGo 1TB USB 2.0 FireWire 800 Desktop External Hard Drive Mac Edition - 34794

First, I'd like to start by saying I usually buy LaCie drives, and would have this time, if the one I was going to get, did not say it would ship in 1-4 months. So I looked again and found this Iomega drive.

Initial impression: It looks really nice and matches my MacBook Pro aesthetically, also worked seamlessly out of the box. I have both the LaCe Porsche drives, and the Poulton drives too, in various storage capacities. Comparison physically, this drive is thinner in height, shallower in depth, and slightly wider. The connection cables are white, which I find a refreshing change. If they really wanted to be different they could have gone w/ grey for the power supply and cord over the standard black.

Function wise: I never use USB, but it's nice that its there incase. Used the FW400 to transfer 187 GB folder in 159 minutes. Then used FW800, transferred 53 GB folder in 36 min. So far everything looks and works great. It has a 3 year warranty and thats a plus, hope I don't have to use it. Oh, and its quiet. I hear the computer over this thing.

Only knock I have about the product is minor in my opinion and for others might be a plus. The light indicator, is a tiny vertical blue sliver, which is cool and all, but its located near the back end of the drive in the middle, as you can see in the images of the product. It flashes when in use which is great, but if I decide to buy another one and stack them, how will I know its On at a glance or flashing when its toiling, if I can't see it. A minor design flaw if you ask me, it should be at the front.

Also, when positioned vertically on the stand, the power cord is near the top at the rear. I thought that it was usually positioned near the bottom on devices to reduce tension on the cord. This too, is a design flaw in my opinion as well, but not worth deducting a star for.

Got it here online for a good price, and the shipping was timely. Since I just received it, I can't address longevity or reliability. Maybe a year or two from now I will update this review, or if or when an issue arises, I will be sure to let all of you know.

Ultimately I am satisfied (usually very picky) so far and fortunate I feel to have discovered this item.

Ciao...

In my experience, Iomega drives are reliable and this one is no exception. For working with Adobe Lightroom2 I use this 2-TB external model with an iMac and a FireWire800 connection for external storage of all my original photo files. I have had it for about two months and so far it has worked exactly as it should. My single minor complaint is that the push-button power switch is quite hard to reach in its location at the very bottom rear of the drive's housing.

I bought this to run backups and Time Macine for my new iMac with a 1TB SATA drive. The 200GB drive I had been using with my old Mac Mini just wasn't going to cut it. This drive is nice and fast, comes with great connectivity options (FireWire 800, USB 2.0, and FireWire 400->800 cables), is formatted for Mac out of the box (not that Disk Utility is hard to use), and is quiet. It's even the same color as the aluminum on my new iMac and keyboard. Very pleased with this drive.

*****

IMPORTANT:

If you ARE having problems with your Mac not mounting external devices, or recognizing them via System Profiler or Disc Utilities, then try an SMC reset. Just do a search on Apple's site and you will find instructions on how to do it and/or updated the firmware. (The reset procedures are different for iMacs and Macbooks/Macbook Pro's.) Once you've reset (or updated) your system management controller (SMC) then it may resolve any issues for you. Unfortunately, the Seagate and Iomega drives were just junk straight out of the box.

After you've reset the SMC, and start to reboot your Mac, I recommend you empty your system's memory (PRAM/NVRAM). As soon as your turn on your Mac, hold down CMD + OPTIONS + P + R and HOLD that; you hear the Mac chime but keep the keys pressed until the system restarts and do not release until the Mac chime sounds on the reboot. Doing this has resolved a lot of quirky behavioral issues that Macs tend to inherit over time.

*****

I realize that most people who read a 1-Star rating generally dismiss it, thinking that the person is off his rocker... and usually that is the case. Most people who issue low ratings, it's usually because they didn't know how to operate the device, didn't read the instructions clearly, didn't look online for help or call tech support, or they rated it low simply because of some unrelated issue (i.e. FedEx didn't deliver the item on time). I would never rate an item this low unless I feel it truly warrants it and I hope this review is helpful to some of you. (Please forgive any typos.)

I have an iMac (2009, Snow Leopard) and a Macbook Pro (2010, Leopard) and I've been using a WD My Book 1TB drive for my Time Machine; however, after 3 years of moderately good use, they drive is beginning to fail. It's reached a point that it often doesn't mount and I can't find the drive using Disc Utilities. Therefore, I started researching online to find a strong, solid external drive to replace the WD. The WD drive was a little outdated anyway, because it only has Firewire 400 and USB 2.0 (which is extremely slow). I wanted to upgrade to a drive that offers Fireware 800, to take full advantage of what my Macs both offer (up to 800mb/sec instead of maxing out at 400mb/sec).

I first turned to the Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Home 2TB - STAM2000100 (Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Home 2 TB STAM2000100), because of its claim to be both Mac and PC compatible and it claimed to be a solid drive for network storage and backups. The idea is great, similar to what Time Capsule offers; I would be able to use this drive via my wireless FiOS router to backup my Macs. Right for PCs - WRONG for Macs! Here is why:

(1) The drive, like MOST all drives that claim they are Mac and PC compatible, was not HFS+ formatted, and my Macs would not even see it in the Disc Utilities or System Profiler, much less mount it.

(2) I had to hardwire it to a PC running Windows XP (Win 7 could not initialize the disc). Once there, I could go into Administrative Tools to initialize the drive.

(3) Finally, once everything was set up, the Macs would ONLY mount the drive if it was hardwired via Firewire 400 or 800, but it would NOT communicate well with the Macs via the network as advertised. It truly was hit or miss, and very unreliable! (I should mention that I had to order a replacement BASE for this drive, one that offers Firewire 800 connections. The standard base that comes with the unit only supports USB 2.0. Also VERY noteworthy, the base has a standard USB female input, as does most every computer manufactured in the last 20 years; therefore, to hardwire this drive using USB, you WILL need an extremely hard-to-find cable that has MALE USB connectors at both ends (one for your computer and the other for the drive's base).

(4) Tech support for Seagate is like going to Wal-Mart to find anything American made....non-existent.

At any case, the Iomega eGo 2TB drive Mac Edition (Iomega eGo 2 TB USB 2.0 FireWire 800 Desktop External Hard Drive Mac Edition - 34796) was not what I expected. Out of the box, it would not mount to either Mac; I tried to connect it via USB and Firewire800. I checked my System Profiler to ensure there were no issues and didn't see anything! I have 2 other drives that use USB 2.0 and Firewire 800, both of those drive mount just fine (using the same cables), so I was able to deduce that the problem was not my cables or either of my Macs. I plugged the device into my PC, only to discover that the same case was true for the Iomega drive as it was for the Seagate one.

I searched Iomega's site for help and tried to contact tech support for guidance but BEWARE, they charge a whopping $25 PER INCIDENT to ALL non-commercial consumers, regardless of whether the device is new and in still in warranty. I was; however, able to chat online with someone who claimed to be from tech support. I should point out, though without trying to be disrespectful, that English was not this person's first, second or third language. The conversation ended when "Michael" told me that he could replace the device at MY expense. He said that there would be a "convenience fee of ONLY $29.99 plus additional shipping." I asked why I have to pay that and his answer was posted IMMEDIATELY (there was NO time for him to have typed all this), almost as though he was ready for me to ask and he had copied and pasted it into the chat window, "Since the price of shipment has been increasing, and in an effort to keep the price our devices low in this competitive market, we are no longer able to provide free shipping both ways for our products. If shipping was included in the price of the device then price of the drive would be increased. We do still use an Advanced shipping method through UPS to send the device to you. We always use the UPS ground shipping, which is 3-5 days unless you want the express for the Next Day."

I have since returned this device to Amazon. Thank you, Amazon, for allowing speedy returns! I then purchased the "LaCie Hard Disk Quadra 2 TB eSATA/FireWire800/FireWire400/USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive 301882U" (LaCie Hard Disk Quadra 2 TB eSATA/FireWire800/FireWire400/USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive 301882U). It comes with ALL the cables you will ever need to connect it and after only a few issues with reformatting the drive to HFS+, it works like a CHARM! I've been able to set it up for Time Machine and was able to back up over 320GB (using Fireware 800) in just a couple hours.

The LaCie drive (LaCie Hard Disk Quadra 2 TB eSATA/FireWire800/FireWire400/USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive 301882U) has worked well, right out the box, and looks great cosmetically! I also love the blue LED light that displays when the drive is powered on. You can visually tell when the drive is being accessed because the light blinks softly and best of all, the drive is SUPER quiet! I highly recommend the LaCie drive! Having worked with Macs and PC's equally for over 20 years, I recommend NOT buying the Iomega drive and instead buying the LaCie mentioned above. Lastly, if you do need help, or want to find additional downloads for your drive, LaCie's site is much easier to navigate. - Firewire 800 - External Hard Drive - Firewire - 1 Tb

Motorola Cell Phone Battery - v3 razr battery, motorola cell phone battery

After three years of use, my BR50 battery was lasting less than half of what it did when I first got my Motorola phone. So I decided to "upgrade" to a new BR56. Mistake! I did all the correct things. Put it on charge right away and let it charge overnight, etc. No matter what I do, this battery won't last any time at all.

I don't know if I just got a lemon or if Amazon's stock of these batteries have been on the shelf WAY too long! I suspect the batteries have just gone bad between the time they were manufactured and the time they were sold. Unused batteries don't last forever and it's important to get a fresh one. In any case, my brand new BR56 would barely even last a whole day of standby use. And heaven forbid I should try to make a phone call! Thankfully, I never threw away my three-year-old BR50, so I put it back in the phone. Although it doesn't last nearly as long as it did new, it still beats this battery by a long shot!

I am returning this battery to Amazon for a refund. Yes, it's an inexpensive item and hardly worth the time to package it up and return it. But it's the principle of the thing. This thing is garbage and they need to be made aware of it. Motorola Li-Ion Battery for Motorola V3, PEBL U6, RAZR V3e, RAZR V3i, RAZR V3m (Black)

Very short battery life. Last maybe only 30 minute telephone conversation. Compared to the new OEM battery that originally came with the phone,it is much shorter life. Have to wonder if this is a Motorola battery.

The product should have a big red tag on the page stating that it does not work! If you purchase a battery is because you have one that doesn't work! Not to get one that is going to last you for 20 minutes of the day.

I bought the BR56 (780mAh)for my v3i and would rate <half a star. After a full charge, it worked for three days. Now it needs to be charged every day with only one use of the phone. My original battery (710mAh)is two years old and holds the charge better. When using the new battery the phone acts strangely as if something is wrong with it. Bottom line, I still need a new battery but WILL not be tempted by the free shipping offered by this vendor.

Seems more like I paid the vendor to dispose of ....................

I watched the bad reviews, but was hopeful because of some of the positive ones. I have an ancient RAZR that drives me crazy because it's always out of juice. Well, this was a complete waste because even with this new battery -- charge lasts less than 24 hours. ugh.

save yourself the time and money. buy locally and return the battery if it doesn't work....like this one.

Got this for my motorola V3M. Great idea except, it doesn't charge well or if at all. I have changed the charger, removed the battery and reinstall, everything i could imagine, but to no avail. I guess I received a lemon coz some people seemed to have gotten good luck with this product. - V3 Razr Battery - Br50 - Motorola Cell Phone Battery - Cell Phone Battery

Ipod Cable - iphone 4, iphone charger

The plug (adapter) is not the proper amperage and therefore it will take 5+ hours to charge your phone.

The clips on the sides of the wire are static and don't bend in to make a smooth in and out connection to your iphone. I'm afraid that if you aren't careful, you will rip your iphone apart trying to unplug it.

Do not buy. Wall Ac Charger USB Sync Data Cable for Iphone 4 3g/s Ipod

I wanted this to take to work for charging my phone. I was very disappointed. It is useless for the my intended purpose. While the cable works fine for charging my phone from my computer I cannot plug it into an outlet and charge because the adapter plug does not work. The cord itself will not transfer data. What you really get is a cheap cord for only charging your phone by attaching to your computer.

I took a chance after reading some bad reviews with this charger and cord and bought 2 units. I tested out the 2 chargers and cords on both my iphone 3GS and first gen ipod touch.

The iphone cables: The cables are the newer type without the buttons on the side. The apple connector springs that hold onto the iphone/ipod are tight and the connector takes a firm push or pull to go into or out of the iphone/ipod. This isn't a bad thing as unlike my car adaptor, the iphone/ipod connector will never accidently fall out of the phone. I don't think the connector will ever cause damage to the iphone/ipod as some others have thought in their reviews. The connector has tight springs that hold the cable to the iphone/ipod.

Charger 1 charged perfectly. It might charge a little slower than the OEM Apple charger but it still charged the iphone to 100% perfectly out of the box. No issues and very satisfied charging my iphone 3GS and ipot touch first gen.

Charger 2 also charged the iphone 3gs and ipod touch fine but it made a hissing sound which was loud enough to be annoying. I bought another cheap charger for a camera which makes the same sound. I returned the charger because of the hissing sound.

Overall I'm happy that one worked perfectly and I'd be OK with the other charger if I weren't in the same room as the charger that hissed.

Basically I took a chance and bought 2 cables and 2 chargers for less than an OEM Apple cable cost. Returning with Amazon is so easy that it was well worth taking the chance on these.

I got the charger within a couple of days or so and it works perfectly, I would recommend to buy these cheaper versions then get the authentic chargers from the Mac store because they all break after a year or so, well with me they do lol and the quality of this one is not cheap or anything it's actually pretty sturdy.

Not sure what the other reviewer was having problems with, but this works with my Iphone 4 perfectly. It's a cheap alternative to the official Apple charger (which is WAY too expensive!) I'd recommend it to anybody needing a cheaper alternative. I'm probably going to order another to have as a spare.

Sorry to say , but the item I recieved is not in a working condition. I tried to return it through Amazon but the process is so cumbersome Ileft it mid way. I hope they send me a replacement. The product as of today is not working for me.

Great replacement for original. Sync cable with wall AC plug for charging allows compact bundle to charge your iThings and transfer data. Priced right to have one at home, at the office and a spare in your travel bag.

The charger works great for my iPhone 3G. I bought 2 since the price was so good. However, my wife has used the charger on her iPhone 3Gs and has complained that it makes her phone "wacky". Since I bought it for my 3G and it works great, I gave this 5 stars.

The price was good, the product looks good, only problem is the sync data cable is labeled wrong on the end that plugs in to the phone, so you have to plug it in upside down. I wish I'd stop buying Chinese. - Iphone - Iphone 4 - Iphone Charger - Ipod Cable

Weighing Scale - weighing scale, digital

I just got this scale to replace an older digital scale that broke, and I'm very impressed.

To weigh yourself, you step on the scale, wait about 3-4 seconds for the scale to stabilize, and look at the reading. The weight is easy to read -- large numerals with a backlight. The only drawback of the backlight is that it will increase battery usage. You have a choice of units -- pounds, kilograms, or stones.

The scale itself is very sleek and low profile. It's 11.8 inches (width) x 11.7 inches. Some scales (both digital and analog) make a clunking sound as you step on, but this is totally silent.

Like most digital scales, it has to be placed on a hard surface such as tile or wood.

Some digital scales have a "fake repeatability." That is, if you weigh yourself, and then hold a small weight and step on again, it gives exactly the same value. This scale doesn't have this undesirable feature. If you hold a small weight, it gives an honest result.

I measured the variability of nine readings. The range (max minus min) was 0.4 pounds, and the standard deviation was 0.12 pounds. This is excellent, and much better than my previous scale.

I think that the absolute reading is very close to correct, but I haven't had a chance yet to compare this scale to the one at my doctor's office.

The instructions warn that the glass surface is slippery when wet. It's not a scale you want to use after stepping out of the shower or bath.

Update January 2011:

After 18 months (and one battery change), it's still working perfectly, but I want to add one more point that other reviewers have mentioned. You do need to remain very still after you get on the scale; otherwise the reading may not lock. To make it work, I stand still for about 5 or 6 seconds. Just stand still and look straight ahead; don't look down at the scale until this time has passed. Occasionally the first reading fails. In that case, step off, wait for the display to go off, and get on again. If the first try fails, the second one almost always succeeds. A person with a balance problem, however, would have difficulty getting a good reading.

I've confirmed that this scale displays a weight extremely close to the one at my doctor's office. (There's no guarantee, of course, that other scales of this model will be equally accurate.) My Weigh Elite Series Bathroom Body Weight Scale - 400 lb

Just bought this scale & am already packing it back up to return to Amazon for a refund.

I unpacked it, removed the battery strip, set it to pounds & tried it out as soon as UPS delivered it.

The first number showed a 5lb difference from my old scale, but since I could get three different numbers when weighing three times in succession on that scale I assumed it was just that the My Weigh was accurate.

Not so much.

The next time I got on I was holding a 5lb bag of flour...and it gave me the exact same number as before.

I tried this same process using my hand weights, but the My Weigh scale could not read the weight difference accurately.

When I added a 3lb weight it showed a difference of 1lb.

When I added 6lbs the My Weigh showed a number 4lbs less than the original number.

Yes, I had this scale on an even, hard surface.

If a scale cannot accurately gauge the difference of adding or removing small amounts of weight...then it is nothing but a dust collector.

Back to Amazon it goes & the search for a new, accurate scale continues.

I am so happy with this item that it has prompted me to write my first amazon review. I looked at scales for hours, and I decided to buy this one based off of the reviews. The first surprise was how nice this thing looks. The pictures don't do this thing justice! It just flat out looks better in person than it does in the pictures. I was not expecting this to be so sleek! It is about as thin as a couple of magazines stacked on top of each other (maybe thinner) and it has a very attractive glass surface. The next surprise was how accurate this thing is. I get very consistent readings. Last night I decided to do a little experiment. I weighed myself 3 or 4 times in a row and got 188.0 every time. I went into the kitchen and drank a glass of water. I then immediately weighed myself again and got a reading of 188.8. Thats good enough for me! The only con I can think of is not that big of a deal: you have to be pretty still while you weigh yourself to get the scale to lock in on your weight. If you were thinking about getting this scale - I say go for it!

This is the best scale we've ever had. Was very inexpensive. It is stylish, and works well. You simply set kilo or pounds, place on a hard surface, and step on. If you move it (significantly) you have to reset it because it senses the surface and calculates weight based on the set. It does not sense anything under 10 lbs, and only holds the display for 10 seconds, then automatically shuts of, so you would have to get back on if you missed the weight. That might be a little confusing for some children or first time users. I have tried stepping all over the scale to see if it gives a different weight for different foot placement, but it seems to be the same everywhere. I have also picked up objects that weigh a few ounces to see if it is actually accurate ...and it is! This is a hundred times better than our options at the local stores (in it's price range). - Bath Scale - Digital - Affordable - Weighing Scale

Western Digital 1tb - 1 tb, mac compatible

I work for Computing support at Arizona State University, and I have enough technical knowledge to be certified as a TECH JUNKIE :).

I am a photographer too, so I have tons of Photos (about 160GB), Videos, Software, Movies and Documentaries. I was looking for a simple external hard drive without any backup software included, I am smart enough to do manual incremental backups with file tree structure intact (I use GOODSYNC to backup, its very simple and easy to use and free).

I have looked at many many external HDDs and narrowed down to two models "Samsung Story 1TB - very good one too" and this one (I wanted it to be cheap too - got this for $85 on [...]). I did not go with other WD models because of their annoying Backup Software.

Coming to the WD Elements 1TB: Its much smaller than I expected. It is dead silent, I had to touch it to convince myself that it was running, when I first turned it on. Its not too heavy either. The indicator light is placed at the rear, which is a very good thing (I find these LED's annoying, especially at night).

After I did the first setup, I copied 383GB of data (931GB was total space). It took about 4hr 47min, speed varied between 20MBps to 37MBps. This is pretty good speed for USB 2.0. It was just a bit warm (my old segate hard drive would be very very hot for this amount of data transfer).

I would recommend it to beginners or pros alike. I am very happy with this purchase!

UPDATE:

After about three months of heavy usage, it never gave up on me. Its still dead silent and works flawlessly. It never got even warm!!

Follow these steps to get GOODSYNC for FREE:

In the beginning GOODSYNC was free, later they made a paid version as it gained popularity..

but there is a way to get PRO version for free...

1. go to good sync website

2. signup for a trial offer and you get PRO serial for free (I signed up for eMusic trial)

3. Once you get the serial, end the subscription before the trial expires...

NOTE: The above mentioned procedure may not work anymore :(

UPDATE: 07-28-2010

I sold my WD Elements 1TB and got a 2TB one a couple of months ago(as my data is on rise all the time), couldn't be happier :)

I bought it from TigerDirect for [ ... ] and got [ ... ] cashback via [ ... ] ...awesome!! Western Digital WD Elements 1 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive

I bought this on sale at Fry's for $99, way below the amazon price. I wanted something simple as most hard drives these days come with their annoying built in software which cannot be deleted (like WD Essential Edition). This is a hassle free drive and is not bundled with any of the extra software which is exactly what I wanted. You simply plug it in and it works. It can easily be formatted to work with macs as well. I've been using WD hard drives for years and I own several models of the "essential" and "passport" editions. They are very reliable.

This elements hard drive has a sleek and sexy, minimalist design. It is well built overall and constructed of durable plastic. There is a slot for the USB cable, a slot for the power adapter and a tiny circular white light which blinks when it is in use (the light is not overwhelming as some hard drives can be). All three of these features are on one side/face of the hard drive (as shown in the picture), so if you have this plugged in and it is facing away from you, you won't see the light at all. This doesn't bother me but it may be a turn off for some people.

When in operation, it is very smooth and quiet compared to other WD hard drives I own. This may be due to the fact that it is closed entirely and there are no holes for ventilation as in other WD models. But this doesn't bother me because I just use this as a backup and don't need it on all of the time. This could (emphasis on "could") be an issue if you are constantly using your hard drive because it may become hot. I haven't experienced this at all, just speculating. If you are just backing up files and, say, watching a movie on your computer which is stored on the hard drive, I think you'll be fine and there won't be any heating issues.

More info here on WD's website: [...]

I purchased the 1tb Elements (WDBAAU0010HBK-NESN) for use with a Dish DVR 622.

Installation was was truly "plug and play". I simply took it out of the box, plugged it in, and it was immediately recognized by the DVR. I have since transferred about 200gb of content to/from it, and have watched content directly from the drive. So far, it is working perfectly. It automatically spins down after a few minutes of non-use, as well as when the DVR is powered off. It also spins back up automatically (less than 10 seconds) when the DVR accesses it.

One thing some people might not like: The case is designed to sit flat (as pictured), not on its side. There are four small non-skid pads on the bottom corners, but none on either side. There is no indication on the box, in the documentation, or on Western Digital's web site as to whether the drive will work properly on edge. As a general rule, WD drives are designed to operate sideways or even upside down (any X,Y,Z orientation), so this one probably will too -- but you'll need to provide your own non-skid pads.

Several similar Western Digital drives, such as the late model "My Book" series, now include a firmware-based CD-partition that is difficult to remove, and can cause compatibility issues with some devices. That partition contains backup software and utilities that are of questionable value in any case, and of absolutely no value when using the drive with a non-computer device (like the Dish DVR). The Elements -- at least at time of this review -- doesn't include any of that junk. (Note: WD does have a downloadable utility to remove the partition from the other drives, but if you don't want that junk then save yourself the time/trouble and just buy the Elements drive.) - 1 Tb - Mac Compatible - Western Digital 1tb - Easy To Use

I got this to protect my new Galaxy Tab from accidental drops on its side or back. The screen is Gorillaglass so I'm less concerned with that. The main problem is that the skin is very slippery and makes the Galaxy harder to hold. In other words, more likely to be dropped. Add to that the hole for the earphone plug prevents correct contact so you can't use a headset with the skin on. The stylus is as useless as all the other ones I've tried and the screen protector is just as cheap. If I hadn't thown out the packaging I would have returned it. SAMSUNG P1000 GALAXY TAB SOFT SILICONE SKIN CASE - BLACK, WITH SCREEN PROTECTOR & STYLUS

I wasn't expecting a lot, yet I was still disappointed. They stylus is a total joke and went into the trash immediately. It is all plastic and the seams are not smooth, so it had sharp edges right where you would hold it. Also the pad at the end of the stylus was connected at an angle and moved all around like a worn out felt marker. The screen protector was probably the highest quality item in the bunch. The silicone case is very loose fitting and at the side where the memory card slot is, it won't even stay covering the edge and constantly slips off the side of the unit. I'm very unhappy with this set, even at the low price, it should have been better quality.

The material is stiff and a bit slippery, I was expecting something soft and more rubbery, but it will do for now. Slight lip and texture around the edges makes for a better grip on the Tab, power and volume buttons now recessed, still easy to press when desired but not by accident like without. My earphone plug fits through the hole on top. The Tab stays still on a flat surface with it on. I already had a screen protector on my Tab so I haven't tried the one that came with this case. With this on, the Tab still fits in my BodyGlove case. No comment on the stylus. As I said, it will do for now, but I'm going to keep checking out other products.

Samsung sells silicone covers, screen protectors, and a stylus that all look better that what this merchant is peddling... the few extra dollars is probably worth it.

This silicone skin is for models with SIM card slots (which I have), and it would be a great cover for these Tabs if it weren't for the odd extra cutout on the top right corner; there's nothing there, if you bump that corner you run the risk of damaging the device. I've seen no other Tabs with a feature in that location (I'm assuming it was is a design flaw, but the manufacturer decided to just sell them anyway).

The stylus is junk, but you can use it if you want to keep finger prints off the screen. It's not like it doesn't work, it's just ugly and poorly put together. In my opinion, if you're gonna by a 600 dollar device, you ought to buy a decent stylus.

I didn't install the screen protector, instead I left the one on the Tab that it shipped with; I just snipped off the corner with the extension for easy removal. However that 'packaged' cover obviously isn't meant for long term use. I figure I'll get a better one after I shop around a bit more.

Great for a low price!!! I am going to order 2 more, key fit good, quaility good, price great....the perfect value. I did not use the screen protector as I like the gorilla glass and dont think its needed. It does also put a lip on the screen front so if it is layed face down it does not get scratched.

Fast ship from Amazon! yay

overall, great product. I already had the gel case.. so i bought this one not knowing it was the same. however, it fits perfectly. the stylus works as it should.. and the screen protector is great! got one with another product but that one was cheap.. this one is still on my tab and no signs of it coming off. i recommend! - Black - Case - Cover - Galaxy
