Rechargeable Batteries - portable speakers, logitech

I bought this docking station for use while deployed to Iraq and I hijacked my wife's Amazon account to do it (smart, right?). It is surprisingly light and slim, especially considering the fullness, crispness, and volume of the sound that it produces. I have not been disappointed, particularly at this price point.

Features that I really like:

1. Dual voltage, which is great for overseas travel.

2. Comes with power adapter.

3. AUX-IN capability has been very useful for plugging in to my laptop for movies.

4. They did away with the iPod inserts, and the design ingeniously allows whatever iPod you insert to rest against a back stop, so that you aren't stressing the connector when you push on the iPod to control it.

5. Remote is simple on features but works very well even when not pointed directly at the unit.

Features that could still be improved:

1. The carry case is more like a dust cover. It is made from the same material those re-usable grocery bags are made from. I am not complaining that it doesn't come with something more substantial at this price, but I do hope that Logitech or some other manufacturer makes something with padding for those of us who travel a lot. I'd be happy to purchase it as an accessory.

2. The AC adapter would be even better if the prongs folded in, as many travel adapters do.

3. You can't use an iPod touch that has a case on it. The docking area narrows toward the bottom making the width a problem--even with slim fitting cases. This just means you have to have a case that comes off easily or one that has a detachable bottom.

Overall I give this a 5 star rating. I waited about a month and a half for this to be released based on initial industry industry reviews (CNET, etc.) and features; I am not disappointed. The sound is great. It is portable. It looks good. It is not extremely expensive. Those all add up to a real winner. I own a Bose Sound Dock (original) and feel that the sound is better on that speaker system--fuller bass and it fills the room a bit better, however the price was double and it is not portable. I challenge anyone to find something higher quality and more versatile for the $150 or under range. Logitech S715i Rechargeable Speaker for iPod and iPhone

Right out of the box and plugged in the unit produced very good sound. At first I thought the kickstand was flimsy and was not supporting the unit well. Another review here helped resolve this by pointing out that it needs to be pushed in harder than one may think, and then it really does lock in.

Appearance/design

I find that Logitech iPod speaker systems generally lack some elegance, but S715i looks a lot better than the previous attempts. Those searching for a more elegant system may wish to look at Altec Lansing products, but in my opinion Logitech beats Altec in sound quality. The trayless doc is a good new feature for Logitech.

Price-to-performance

The unit could have been priced higher and would still attract attention of many - it is really inexpensive for what it does.

Sound quality

The box produces full and clean sound with impressive for the size bass. Logitech "has got it going on" in the base area. On certain tracks the bass may feel a little too pounding. Also, at times I found the mids slightly lacking. Some listeners have compared the sound of this unit to that of Bose. It is a fair comparison. After listening to this Logitech unit for a few days I went to a store to listen to Bose SoundDock Portable, and I could not say that Bose sounded better. Listening in a store, where there is a level of noise, is not the same as at home, so it wasn't a good test.

The two gripes

Another reviewer said this already - why, oh why did Logitech decide that long run time on battery was more important than the sound quality? When unplugged, the sound deteriorates. The base and the fullness go away. It is not just the volume - it feels like the sub-system responsible for the lowest notes shuts down. I can imagine it takes quite a bit of power to drive those notes out of the box, but at least there could be an option to keep the same sound at expense of run time. Make no mistake - it is still better than OK sound, and there is quite a bit of bass left, but it's not quite the same. I like to carry these things from room to room, and I think this is a notable flaw. My second gripe is about remote control lacking full functionality - it is not able to control iPod menus. Logitech already had this in Pure-Fi Anywhere 2, why give it up now?

Bottom line

Very good unit which earned its place on my home office desk. It is bound to surprise some guests with the sound quality for the size and keep me and hopefully other family members good company from time to time. Big compliments to Logitech, this system does represent progress in small-size inexpensive sound systems. - Portable Speakers - Logitech - Iphone Speakers - Rechargeable Speakers

Compact Camera With Hd Video - dsc-w290, digital camera

I originally bought a Sony DSC-S950, for around half the price of this camera, but I returned it the same day due to a faulty flash bulb. I decided to upgrade to the W290, because I wasn't very happy with the S950 - it felt cheap, and lacked features.

I've put together this list of pros and cons of this camera. Don't let the seemingly long list of cons scare you though, as they are all quite minor and not even important enough for me to rate this camera anything less than 5 stars. I just felt it was necessary to list everything I could think of. Sorry, I couldn't properly review the HD Video capability, because I don't have the HD cables (see below), and my computer seems to be too slow to properly play back HD video.

Pros:

-BRILLIANT colors! I am very very impressed with the colors in my shots, especially when shooting outdoor scenery shots (which is primarily what I purchased this camera for).

-Night-time shots using a tripod turn out very well also, giving as much detail as one could see with their naked eye.

-Smile shutter, as mentioned in previous reviews, works flawlessly. One thing that doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere, is that when it's in Smile Shutter mode, it will continue to snap photos automatically as long as it keeps detecting smiles, which is very cool. So if you are taking a group picture, and you're one of those people that likes taking 3 shots of the same thing "just in case", just keep on smiling and the camera will take care of that for you.

-there's a 3-shot burst mode, where it automatically takes 3 pictures when you click the button: one with your default EV, one at -1EV, and one at +1EV (or different intervals even, if you choose). That once-in-a-lifetime shot you take will have 3 different versions automatically, and you can choose the one you like the most and delete the rest later.

-The Intelligent Auto mode works fantastically, it takes a lot of the stress out of taken urgent pictures. The only time I ever don't use it is when I have plenty of time to plan for a shot.

-Startup time is great! I've seen other complaints from people that say this camera takes too long to startup and be ready to use, but those people must be the most impatient people ever, because this thing is faster than any other camera I've owned, digital or otherwise. When you click the power button, the lens fires out lightning fast and the screen immediately displays the picture and is ready for action. Probably takes about 0.5 seconds from pushing the button to being ready to use.

Cons:

-Plastic cover on LCD screen protrudes from the camera body, making it more easily scratched. I would recommend getting some screen protectors, as I'm about to do.

-the jack for the all-in-one cable is on the bottom of the camera, which will be great once a dock is available, but in the meantime it's a very inconvenient place to plug in the cable. It forces you to lay to camera on either the lens side, or the LCD side (which, as mentioned above, is designed in such a way that it could be scratched quite easily without a screen protector)

-Doesn't come with HD video cables, only the typical yellow/red/white RCA analogue cables. Seeing as how this camera records HD video, it would be nice to be able to play it back in HD on my tv without burning it to a DVD first. You can buy the HD cables from sony if you really need them, though.

-Comes with an NP-BG1 battery, which disables the camera's ability to show you the remaining minutes. You have to buy the optional NP-FG1 battery to see that. That's the only difference, both batteries have the same capacity. It was obviously designed that way to force us to buy a second battery... but that was fine with me, since I planned on buying one anyways.

I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone looking for a great quality point-and-shoot digital camera! Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W290 12 MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom and Super Steady Shot Image Stabilization (Dark Blue)

NOTE: IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT PURCHASING THIS PRODUCT, SEE WARNING BELOW!

My wife and I are planning a long vacation trip and needed a compact, but versatile, alternative to a full blown DSLR. I've owned this little camera for just 20 hours, but can offer some first impressions. We bought a Canon SX110IS at Christmas for our daughter. Compared to the jewel-like Sony, the Canon's build quality seems substantially less. However, it has a 10X optical zoom compared to Sony's 5x, but 9 mega pixel resolution compared to 12.1 on the Sony. I doubt that the image quality difference will be notable, but I will update this when I can make a valid comparison.

One of the main reasons I picked the Sony over the Canon is that it is truly compact. While the Canon is small, the Sony is flat - less than 1" thick - and hardly shows in a pocket (although I have ordered a case). Comparatively speaking, its LCD screen is huge and bright (but does not swivel like some Canons). BTW, neither camera has a viewfinder, so I am not confident that either will be easy to see in bright sunlight.

This model does NOT employ a touch screen (which I did not value), but the controls (though small) are simple and generally intuitive once you learn Sony's ops language (different from Canon's). I will admit, if you happen to be a bit ham-fisted, you may not be willing to struggle with such tiny controls which are suited more to a child's hand than an adults. Also, because they are so small, the two adjustable dials are hard to read - not so handy when your eyes start to fail as are mine.

The special features (many on this camera) all seem like they may be useful, but the "smile" feature seems a bit useless to me. The facial recognition works great - even when I pointed it at a TV image. It takes longer than I am used to to auto focus (I normally shoot with a Canon full frame 5D that uses focus motors in the lenses - hardly a fair comparison).

Also, if you plan to use this camera to record full 12.1 mega pixel images, you will have to buy plenty of Memory Stick storage, although it will shoot at much lower resolutions, it has limited internal memory. I bought two 16GB Sony brand Pro Duo sticks on eBay for $21 each to be able to do so. BTW, that is much cheaper than Amazon, say. Also, since this camera shoots HD (720P) video in MPEG4 format - one of the features I plan to exploit - you'll want plenty of extra storage anyhow.

I'll have to reserve my opinions on picture quality until I can do a real world test, but the images I shot indoors with the built-in flash were crisp and noiseless at 12.1 mega pixels, less so, of course as I tried lower resolutions.

And did I mention that the Sony's "anodized" blue finish trimmed in "black chrome" is elegant and stunning?

WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!

Shortly after writing this review, I decided to double-check my "cheap" memory purchase. What I found was disturbing. It is very likely that the Pro Duo memory sticks I bought on eBay are FAKES! I'm telling you this so you won't make the same mistake I probably did (my Memory Sticks have not yet been delivered). If you will check out this eBay link BEFORE you buy memory for your new camera (or other Sony device), you may be able to save yourself a lot of trouble (and $$$).

http://reviews.ebay.com/FAKE-Sony-Memory-Stick-Pro-Duo-MagicGate-Cards-Exposed_W0QQugidZ10000000001236041

Like they say, "If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is". I know better, and now, so do you. I will confirm the results after I have had a chance to try them out. Incidentally, just shot some outside images of our flowering crabapple blossoms. Pictures look great and I could see the LCD in "cloudy bright" afternoon sunlight.

4-28-09

As promised, an update. The Memory Sticks from Hong Kong did indeed turn out to be bogus. They look exactly like Sony products, including the very detailed packaging, but they simply didn't work. The Sandisk Ultra 4GB version I bought at Staples works great, even when recording "HD fine" video. Playback looks beautiful (considering the source) on the computer, but not nearly as sharp on an HDTV when using the composite cable that came with the camera. I now have no qualms about substituting this for my miniDV camcorder on the next trip, however.

The "smile" function actually works, but I could live without it. The camera makes it really difficult to mess up exposure. I've even tried fooling it with extremely harsh back lighting and it still exposed faces properly. 12.1GB images are not as sharp as I'd like when I carefully examine the detail, and there is some noise present. Keep in mind, however, that I typically shoot with a Canon full frame DSLR. I will, however, compare it to a Nikon Coolpix I used a couple of years ago. The Nikon was substantially sharper in similar situations. If the ultimate picture quality is high on your priority list, look at the comparably priced Nikons and Canons. For the features I wanted, this Sony remains the best choice for me. Finally, Sony make two affordable underwater housings for this camera. One for snorkeling and one for diving. - Dsc-w290 - Digital Camera - Compact Camera With Hd Video - Photography

Optical Cable - toslink, optical cable

If it doesn't snap you probably forgot to take the little rubber protectors off the end of the cable... like I did for about a minute. Once removed it snaps in perfectly.

The cable is high quality, long, and very flexible and has nicely constructed connectors. And it is about 1/4 the cost of radio sxxxx and bsst buy, both being rip-off artists on items like cables.

Its things like this that will make me a prime return customer. Who can't wait 2 days to save big bucks?? AmazonBasics Toslink Digital Audio Optical Cable (6 Feet/1.8 Meters)

My goal in life is to never buy overpriced cables. I figure that it is a cable and how could it break. After all it just sits there collecting dust. It's a digital signal going through glass/plastic fiber, there will be no difference compared to the $450 dollar AudioQuest class 5 optical cable - TosLink plugs 1m (3.28'). If you bought this $450 cable, I cry for you.

The cable is your basic black color and it looks as nice as a cable can look. The cable is flexible and bendy just like a cable should be. It is long. The connection fits snugly from my Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K 7-Channel A/V Receiver (Black) to my ancient Philips DirecTV DVR With 40GB TIVO.

It comes in a nice cardboard box that is so simple to open. You can then toss the packaging into your recycle bin for recycling.

1. Open the box.

2. Remove the cable

3. Remove the twistie tie (counter-clockwise rotation is critical for success)

4. REMOVE THE PLASTIC NIBS covering the connectors

5. Plug one end into your TV optical port and the other end into the electronic device of your choice

6. Enjoy the show

These AmazonBasics cables are the cat's ass. I wish they came in shorter lengths (cable neat freak), but the price can't be beat. You won't be disappointed.

A really well made cable. If you are new to this Toslink cabling you may not notice that AmazonBasics Toslink cables come with a near transparent protective silicon cover over the tiny optical connector. Look closely as they are there, and obviously removing this BEFORE installing the cable will be the difference between a trouble free installation and ten minutes of fiddling with connections and scratching your head trying to figure out why your optical connection is not operating.

I had ordered two of these cables to hook up from my computer chassis to my Denon AV Receiver and another for the connection from the Denon AV Receiver to the TV. Being the first time that I had ever used Toslink Digital Audio cables I thought that you just plug them into the outlet and it would work automatically.

I didnt know that the cables contained a clear plastic cap to protect the tip of the cable on each end so the cable kept popping out of the slot when I tried to plug it in with the protective plastic cap on it. I was going crazy so I went online to read reviews on other optical cables, watch installation videos on youtube, and forums to see if other users have been having the same issues but none of the videos tell you to remove the clear plastic protective cap so I thought that the cap was part of the cable. Luckily some other amazon members read my review and told me to remove the clear plastic cap, the cables have been working fine ever since. Amazon has an awesome community, thanks for the help guys.

I would highly recommend this cable to anyone who needs a toslink digital audio cable.

Since I upgraded to a new tv and surround sound I wanted the best connections.

The digital audio is perfect.

Helpful hint, the little rubber things on the tips have to be removed first LOL.

I tried jamming the thing into the Blu Ray player and it just kept popping back out.

Mr. Tech Man I am not.

As soon as I took those off it snapped right in.

Cheap.

Effective.

A must have for HDTV owners.

This product works. It works the same as my expensive big name Optical cable that cost 10 times more. I cannot hear a difference. I imagine 99 percent of the population won't either. So save your money.

I too thought the cable was too loose, but when I re-read the comments, I re-checked the cable ends, and sure enough, there is a little, soft plastic cap on the male pin at each end of the cable. Carefully remove the cap by softly pulling with your fingernails, and Bingo! the cap comes off, the cable snaps in just as it should! PLEASE, all of you who have had looseness probs with this cable, check the ends carefully...the cap is hard to notice, but it blurs the light(strangely enough the cable still worked fine, even with the caps on), if you feel the little soft cap, you've found the problem; just gently pull it off, put the cap in your recycle bin, plug your now functioning cable into the devices and enjoy! It was only after I re-read the comments/reviews that I closely checked my cable, and sure enough, Amazon's quality prevailed and I was wrong wrong wrong! Def recommend this product. I'm no expert, perhaps gold plated or sapphire laser might be better, but this do-dad works just fine for me!

The build quality looks good and it fit right in. I am using it to connect my TV Samsung 55" plasma with Sony BDV 770 home theater and it works perfectly. I took free shipping and still got the item in 4 days of placing the order - Digital Audio - Toslink - Optical Cable - Amazonbasics

I must preface my review by saying I didn't buy the LG 450 online, I bought it at a big box store because they had a better price:

I wanted an inexpensive TV for the bedroom and the LG 450 is a good choice, the picture quality is very good for it's price. I didn't need 120Hz so I saved $150 by buying the 60Hz model. All LG TV's have Expert ISF Settings so you can have it professionally calibrated or do it yourself, it even has a built-in blue filter. The ATSC tuner is very powerful because I get all the local stations OTA with an indoor antenna. This model is not internet enabled so you need a set top box to get Netflix, etc. A word of caution though: when I got it home and calibrated the picture it still didn't look great, it takes about 12 hours of viewing for the display to "break-in". After watching the TV for a few days now the picture has improved dramatically. As with all TV's the sound isn't great but it does have bass and treble controls. The USB port supports: JPG, MP3, MPG, WMV, MP4. The manual states other video formats are supported but they wouldn't work on my TV.

Inputs:

HDMI(3)

VGA(1)

USB(1)

Component(2)

Composite

Outputs:

3.5mm headphone

Toslink optical

I and most experts recommend these basic settings(YMMV):

1. Turn off Dynamic Contrast.

2. Turn off Auto Energy Saving.

3. Turn on Cinema Mode, if your Blu-ray player supports 24p then turn that on as well.

4. Select Just Scan. LG 42LK450 42-Inch 1080p 60 Hz LCD HDTV

I am so pleased with my purchase. This TV has great picture & sound. The menu is almost idoit proof! My husband and I like different settings when watching tv so changing options frequently has become so easy with this tv. We never found a better price for this model! I would highly recommend.

Just unboxed this TV and have been setting it up. The picture calibration tool is fairly nice, and so far things look good on the display.

The back panel connectors seem a bit cheap though in the sense that they're not mounted very firmly to the chassis. When I plugged in an HDMI cable, the whole connector board flexed a bit, though not enough to push the connectors all the way in to the chassis. Given that connector changes aren't very frequent, this probably isn't a big deal, but they could have used a few more screws and mounting stands to hold this important bit of the board to the back cover.

Overall, the TV is very light, which is nice now that I have to move it around and put it into my entertainment center. Looking forward to seeing how Blu-Ray movies look on this thing...

This HDTV was a great price and I give it Thumbs UP!!! It has excellent color, easy to setup and it has a great sound. This TV size fits perfectly in my bedroom.

I first purchased another popular brand Vizio 32" LED and it was not heavy to lift, it only weight about 4 or 5 lbs., but I was very unhappy with it. Maybe the one I received was defective, but I had to return it because the color looked faded on all channels and sound was terrible. The sound, sounded like you were in a tunnel.

I ordered the LG 32LK450 HDTV online and received Free Shipping for this particular model, which I had no idea that it would be FedEX overnight from the company I ordered it from. That was a plus for me, because my old TV died and I needed a new one right away. I'm very happy that I decided on LG 32LK450 model, after researching the Internet for reviews, and it showed good ratings. I did know that LG made great cell phones, but had no idea that their HDTV's were this good. LG gave me great customer service when I had some questions about the setup. I will be purchasing another LG HDTV for my 2nd bedroom in the near future.

Notebook Power Adapters

I bought a HP adapter for my computer from this company and after five months of using it the adapter died and no longer works. I contacted the company and they told me that their policy is that I only have 14 days to return the item. What a load of crap!!!! Their product is a piece of junk and I would not recommend them to anyone. It is worth the extra money to pay to get a quality adaptor from Best Buys. Buyer beware they sell junk!!!!!!!!! Brand New Made By HP 18.5V 3.5A 65W AC Adapter For HP Pavilion DV4300/DV4400/DV5000/DV6000/DV8000/DV9000/ZE4000/ZE4900/ZT3000/ZT3100/ZT3200/ZT3300

I bought this one when I discovered my original adapter developed a loose contact. Although the new one is working properly, the wires that came with it look substandard and the outer cover of wire connecting the power outlet to the adapter broke off(without any kind of wrong handling) revealing the wires inside. The adapter is doing its job and has all labels and marking(such as FCC, hp logo) as an original one but the wires make me skeptical about its genuineness.

Broke within three weeks despite mild handling - the black plastic must be cheap, because it cracked, but what really killed it was...apparently if the cord bends, the wires will short and refuse to work unless you wiggle them -just right-

But really this is my bad. I mean, how stupid am I to imagine the cord on a laptop adapter could withstand the awful rigor of mild bending?

Awful product, avoid like the plague - unless, of course, you plan on never ever bending the cord, touching, breathing, or using it on days that end in Y.

I bought this charger after my original decided to take a crap on me. I bought this at the very beginning of March and it has completely died on me. It was plugged in and one day my laptop died because the charger would not charge it. Since then before ordering yet, another charger I have used a friends charger and so I know its not my laptop. I wouldn't recommend this charger unless you want to replace it ever couple months.

This AC Adapter for my HP DV8000 matches perfectly compared to the AC Adapter I purchased last year and it was half the price. The one I got last year did not plug securely into my laptop. It fit but would fall out if I moved it around.

This HP power cord arrived sooner than expected and was well packaged. It works exactly as it is supposed to work. Unfortunately this is my 4th power cord; the previous ones were chewed by my puppy. Of course this is not a fault of the manufacturing of the cord! Now my puppy does not chew on cords since she's been through puppy school, and with proper care this cord should outlast my computer. Thank you Amazon and thank you Hewlett Packard for providing excellent services and products!

Note: Compare this great price to ~4x the price for the same cord at a large electronic retail store!

Adapter works just fine, in fact, rather cooler than the original equipment. The price, including 2-day delivery, was half of what HP wanted for the adapter alone. Delivery was good. I'd cheerfully do business with these folks again!

Toshiba 55WX800U 55-Inch 1080p 240 Hz Cinema Series 3D LED TV Review

Toshiba 55WX800U 55-Inch 1080p 240 Hz Cinema Series 3D LED TV, BlackThis was my first TV after I purchase a TV 57" Hitachi rear projection, So far so good. The picture quality is excellent when you send HD material. I have Dish Network and HD channels are perfect, the other channels are ok after seeing HD. The TV is capable of Great PQ. Wifi is impeccably fresh stream Netflix. Be sure to turn off the 240 Hz, unless your sport to watch or be unhappy with the effect of soap! But it seems that the football game with the top. The speakers are terrible (just like most thin LED) plans for multiple audio devices. TV is superb! a lot of thought when the screen is not lit, (like a mirror), but not too annoying when you play bad. No 3D look anything yet so I can not comment on that. All in all I am happy so far!

Ok, so after almost a month to try to get this TV has finally arrived today! The first shipment arrived on TV is broken, the second shipment, occurred when I said I would not have been there. So I returned the entire shipment, and it took more than five days later. Well, when they went to deliver the TV again I could not get hold of their program, when I called about 15 times in two days and nothing, then finally get their hands on them and tell me I have lost out for the day, I'll have to wait a week.

I was so angry that you can imagine. So I called Amazon and complained of the transport service terrible, have called the shipping company and told them they had to hand over the TV. So I finally managed to confirm that the TV was set to arrive Wednesday. Well, I waited and waited ... without TV. So I called Amazon again, while on the phone, the shipping company called me to say that the weather was too bad to be provided and that would be delivered the next day. Well, it happened, but two TV arrived, I asked to come back and refused to surrender and the new. Well, good thing because the box has come for the second TV had a 2ft hole in the side of the box. I'm pretty sure that the TV was still shocked. But luckily, my TV is in perfect condition:) Amazon has announced it will pay my account in about a week.

Now, installation is a breeze, set the TV on the couch, put 9 screws and my gf and me to stand. 2hdmi channel decoder connected my PS3. Created for the parameters of my TV and it works perfectly. Configure wireless works. Pandora is not configured for any reason. But I think it's necessary to update the next day or something. Netflix works.

Sound is not bad at all, no surround sound, but his strong point, not static. no problem. everything I expected. Photo: An Overview. Born and without streaks. T3 in search now on FX and without problems. It is a light appearance, but not bad. Just what I expected. T3 is quite dark in the 1 st half of the film so that it is because there is a glimmer of daylight. I have 11 windows where my TV and vaulted ceilings. I have not seen other people talk about the bleeding, but again, not its dark in my house and, honestly, I think people are too critical.

Quality: The stand is very robust, if you put it right. And television is the most beautiful TV I have ever seen. Much better than Samsung. He has 9 seconds per turn. Very little late to change the channel. Even non-HD channels look good, 480ip. They are just squares instead of the rectangle as the TV. I have not used a lot, but so far I have no complaints. After a week or two I will update again after I try to use multiple parameters. I will mention, I programmed the decoder, DVD/VCR no problem. Can I use the remote all:) For $ 1580, you can not beat the price / quality ratio. No regrets. I also bought the square of the commercial guarantee for each event. You never know ... recommended to anyone thinking of buying it!

Sony TDG-BR100 Adult Size 3D Active Glasses

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/111lD4v9-VL.jpg
We ordered the starter kit from Sony which has two pairs of 3D glasses, we have used for 3D viewing for a few weeks. My first impression was that they were heavy and tight on my head, I discovered later that the temples of images can be adjusted to best suit each user with ease. Now fit better and are very comfortable. My wife needs glasses to watch TV and 3D glasses these glasses over other very well.

I think the glasses must be activated by pressing a small switch on the right side, as one critic has pointed out the glasses after 5 minutes with no 3D signal from the transmitter. The soft case is a bit close, but the glasses can be treated with caution. As an amateur audio/video, I often found the edge of technology (sometimes known as the bleeding edge). The question is now how this technological advance, you will die on the vine or a flower into something very special. I can not answer that question right now, but I must admit I was encouraged by promotional disc sent to me by Sony, "3D World".

It was sent because I bought a Sony HD movies and has some very remarkable about it. The most exciting for me was a video of a football game, the depth of field was the best I've ever seen anywhere. There was action in the foreground and see clear images on the go, but then look at the people standing on the opposite side of the field and see clear images even in the distance. This was by far the most realistic use of 3D I have ever seen and that has all the real images, no animation.

The reason I say this is that it encourages me to think about what you can do in engineering and manufacturing experience develops and improves. These are the new technologies and often I have seen progress in terms of quality and experience improves the results. I saw a couple of other films in 3D, but not far from the quality shown in this promotional disc!

For the industry as a whole can begin to integrate the improvements made on this record, plays in the world of 3D for the home will be a very exciting place. Having purchased a 3D TV and all necessary accessories, I really hope this happens! Meanwhile, prices are likely to decline if the technology takes off, if you're willing to take the risk, the 3D experience right now is fun and full of hope.

Samsung UN55D8000 55-Inch 1080p 240Hz 3D LED HDTV (Silver)My search for a TV  for bedroom was long and tiring. After bringing home this 2011 Samsung 55" D8000, finally came to a satisfactory conclusion. We started with a Sony 55" HX909 (or something like that, their model numbers are meaningless beyond). TV worked for about 15 minutes and then failed. Sony has offered to send an off-peak, but we refused. When it works, Sony was a great image. Instead, I opted to have it again (Amazon makes it really easy).

Sony has already bought the 3D glasses and IR dongle, I tried another Sony 55" NX810. It had a beautiful design and most of the time worked. Unfortunately, there were two dark spots on the screen. In addition to the two dark spots, The NX810 is a good TV. We have noticed a strange little with local dimming causing the entire image to get much brighter and dimmer at a time when there was a scene that would have. The 3D was okay, but 3D graphics, where there was a lot of contrast between something in the foreground and bleed through a fair amount.

We called Sony for dark spots on a television, company services contact us for a fix under warranty. The company said that the panel had to be replaced, but replacement was delayed. After a week or two, we received a call from Sony offering to replace our TV because the party was late. A few weeks later, we received a call indicating that the new Sony TV was running late and would not be available for 2 months. We contacted Amazon and coordinated to have returned the TV.

The day HomeDirect has come for pick the NX810,  we went to our local BestBuy to check the TV in person. The new Samsung 2011 55" D8000 was our favorite. After all the problems we had with the last two televisions, we decided to buy a brick and mortar store so you can easily return to television when thay failed to be height of our expectations. we loaded the Samsung in the back of a corvette (TV box, like television, is relatively small) and went home. It was not as good as the Amazon service, but we were nervous about getting a bad third TV.

We unpacked the TV and it was great. When we bought the TV, we got a starter kit with glasses. Apparently no longer use the night vision goggles for 3D, which was transferred to the second type of Bluetooth in-store sales. The Samsung has destroyed the 3D in 3D on Sony. All the ghosts that we saw on the Sony was gone. Tangled 3D, Shrek 3D, and Grantourismo 3D looks very good.

I love this TV. just like when it is turned off. The picture quality is superb when lit. Finally, it works fine with my new Onkyo receiver. I needed a switch to go through the PS3 HDMI 1.4a for 3D. We did not find HDMI 1.4a switch, but the Onkyo receivers are not too expensive, so I had a TX-NR708 or something. The TV is always frustrating thing was to return to TV audio receiver. With HDMI 1.4a, there is a new audio channel. The same HDMI cable that carries both audio and video of my stereo receiver to the TV can be used to send the audio from TV to the receiver.

I failed to make it work at first that the audio is only supported on HDMI2 (arc labeled on the back of the TV). A review of the manual quickly clarified that. Since we never use the TV tuner (live TV these days? Come on, who watches TV without a DVR?), I do not think that this return channel audio, it would be useful, but all that television has the support for Hulu, Netflix and Pandora built in. With these applications, because the receiver to your TV automatically switch the audio to the TV. The TV itself is turned on and off the receiver when the receiver is turned on, the TV automatically turns off the TV speakers and the volume control on the remote control actually controls the volume of the receiver. I do not need to spend hours to figure out how to put everything, it just worked.

To be honest, the Sony also knew perfectly with the receiver, and this seems to be a new television standard adopted. In my mind, is a much bigger revolution in entertainment than 3D.

It nice that the remote has a problem with a QWERTY keyboard. The remote control uses Bluetooth instead of IR QWERTY side and should be combined. As noted in some of the other reviews, the pairing is difficult to operate. It should be kept inches from the TV remote control (only for mating, and you have to connect once) and probably the most difficult times. I finally found my remote in a strange state where I could not pair. Call tech support, the phone was not deep and I had to wait on hold. The technician told me the trick to hold the backspace and @ for a few seconds to reset the remote control. After that, the pair worked on the first try. It was disappointing to restore the magic was not included in the manual, but Samsung has more than offset by a live person to talk to me that does not need to wait for. Keep up the good work Samsung!

Ipod Nano Accessories - ipod dock, ipod charger

I too had read a million reviews for a million products. I decided to risk it with this since most of the reviews were good. I have A 4TH GENERATION NANO- and yes there is an adapter for it. We listen to it everyday. IT CHARGES YOUR IPOD WHILE DOCKED. The sound is great. The color change is cool. I wanted something small that sounded great. I use it in every room of the house, especially the kitchen while I am preparing meals. The sound is great for such a small cube. I would recommend this to anyone of any age. In a day where most things don't do what they say in the advertisement, finally something that exceeds those promises. You won't go wrong with this one. iHome iH15 LED Color-Changing Speaker System with Built-In Subwoofer for iPod

Overall, 4-stars, pretty good.

The sound is pretty decent. Forget deep, rich bass that others describe. Sounds better than most "mini-speakers" systems, though. Sounds like a small boom-box. At least the sounds are well balanced and articulated, not muddy or distorted.

It can also get pretty loud. Surprisingly, the bass response seems better at high volume levels.

The look of the cool, color changing cube is awesome. It has three modes:

> solid color of your choice;

> revolving colors, changing every few seconds;

> constantly oozing through the whole spectrum.

It's the third mode that's the coolest. It's dim enough to make a nice night-light without lighting up the whole room. And the light stuff works whether the sound is on or off, and it's easy to turn the light off when the sound is off as well.

CON - It has no clock, and no "auto on" feature. I had expected to leave it on and use my iPod's alarm to turn on, thus playing music to wake me up. However, it does not appear to work. When docked, the iPod's alarm does not go off. Maybe I should try it again with the iPod on, but not playing a song.

So overall, it's very nice.

I've had this for 3 months and have become obsessed with it -- I use it in a 300 sq-ft room, and it sounds great -- PROS/CONS follow.

PROS

Compact and lightweight -- it's just under 6"x6"x6" and maybe weighs a pound? Very easy to transport. It has little rubber feet that grip it to a flat surface.

Surprisingly good, rich sound quality -- I'm not an audiophile by any means, but would rate this very highly for the size and especially for the price. You can't adjust the bass or anything else, but the default is just fine.

Works overseas (100-240V) -- I took this with me while living abroad, and it works great with a simple Euro-plug converter. The plug is also relatively small and light (about 3"h x 2"w x 1"d), and easy to pack.

Charges iPod in its case -- I have the Griffin mirrored case (open bottom) over a 7G classic iPod, and it just barely fits, but it does fit. Also there are several dock adapters so you can use it with other iPod models.

Versatile -- The 3.5mm auxiliary jack allows you to use this with any device supporting a standard male-to-male input cable. It would be nice if a cable were included, but at this price, I can't really complain. Sound quality remains high across devices (I've used it with a Sharp tube TV and MacBookPro). It works with an auxiliary device plugged in, while the iPod is charging in the dock (w/the iPod turned off/paused). So you can use it as a laptop speaker, and keep the iPod docked to charge.

CONS

iPod alarm doesn't work with it -- I've had this problem with other speakers too, so I don't penalize this one too much for what could be an iPod-related problem. I use the speaker with my Mac laptop alarm, via a long (20') 3.5mm inline aux cable, and it works well.

Volume buttons are a little sticky -- You have to press them a few times to register a perceptible change. I prefer the touch sensitive buttons that JBL uses on my OnStage and Harmon Kardon sticks. It also takes a few seconds after turning on your iPod for the sound to "catch up" to the existing speaker volume.

No mute button -- You have to press the off button. Not a big deal, but worth mentioning.

TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT

Color light -- The stock photo that iHome uses is a bit deceptive. The colors don't change into solid "flat" colors, but into glowing color-lights. You can let it cycle through the colors or freeze it on the color of your choice. It's fun for 5 minutes, or, if you're 8, 5 years. Then you turn it off completely.

Carrying handles -- The handles are incorporated into the speaker as a curved piece protecting each of the 4 grills. This is a clever concept, but it's kind of disconcerting to scrape the grill fabric with your fingernails when using the handles.

I loved this product. LOVED IT. I never had a problem with it, and, in my small office, it had great sound. However, four months after purchase, it stopped responding. None of the control buttons work - although the unit still charges my iPod and lights up. It is past the 30 days I could return it to Amazon.com and iHome will only look at it for $25.00. Consequently, I am out of luck and would not recommend this product due to spotty longevity. - Ihome - Ipod Accessories - Ipod Charger - Ipod Dock

4-port Usb Hub - 4 port usb hub, 4 port

This is a great product at a great price. I bought one of these for my laptop to add to the number of USB ports available. I liked it so much, I bought another for my desktop to simply make the ports more accessible. The supplied cord is plenty long to reach the desktop on the floor and then I simply Velcro'ed the Targus to my desk to make plugging and unplugging USB devices much more convenient. The Targus works right out of the box, no install required and it works on every computer I've tried -- no problems. I must confess, the blue LED's look pretty cool too! Targus 4-Port USB 2.0 Ultra Mini Hub PA055U (Black)

I love this product!I read the reviews of all the hubs and was confused about what would work and what wouldn't and "powered" vrs "un-powered"...So I decided to buy a cheap, un-powered hub and see if it worked and go from there. It works perfectly!I have a 2-yr old PC running Windows 98 second edition.I only have two USB ports and was ready to buy a new PC just to get more ports since every peripheral nowadays uses USB.A friend told me about USB hubs--essentially an extension cord for your USB ports.I plugged-in the Targus (the blue lights are cool), and plugged into the Targus the following--internet cable modem, scanner, DVD burner, and MP3 player. I rebooted (probably not necessary, but it never hurts), and everything is totally cool. Now, I'll get another year out of this PC before I upgrade and I WILL keep the Targus hub--it saved Christmas!

First off, note that Amazon has grouped together reviews from a number of different Targus hubs. That's why you see references to USB 1 versus USB 2, some people with 4 ports and some with 8. This review is for the Targus PA050U USB 2.0 High-Speed Hub (4-port).

The positive:

--It functions. However, almost all USB hubs do that, so that can't really be the basis for a rating.

--I do like the glowing blue lights when a device is plugged in and powered. (And it matches my Saitek Eclipse keyboard, which also has a blue glow. Unfortunately, the hub ended up on my tower underneath my desk because of the cord length, so I can't even see it).

The negative:

--The cord! It's not even three feet! Make sure you measure the distance you'd like your cord to travel before purchasing this hub. It's about 2 feet 9 inches. I wanted to put this hub on my desk, but the cord is not long enough to make it there from the back of the computer. For the price of this hub, I shouldn't have to buy a longer cord.

--It weighs almost nothing, which means it won't stay where you want it to. Plus, the cord it comes with is fairly rigid, which means that the direction of the cord determines where your hub points. I grant that the weight is a positive for those who carry it around with a laptop, but it is not good for someone who wants it to sit somewhere semi-permanently. Another reviewer had the great idea to use velcro; I will have to take that suggestion.

Overall, it does what it's supposed to, but doesn't every hub? The difference is in the details, and this hub's short cord and feather weight are disappointing. Three stars for a desktop user. I'd probably give it four or five stars if I were a laptop user, since the short cord and light wieght would be great.

This is an excellent usb hub for the price. Very compact and very light. It doesn't take up too much space at all. Also, it's powered thru USB so you do not need to deal with an AC adaptor. I have a couple of USB devices that are powered through the USB port as well and my concern was whether they would still be active through this hub. I plugged both into the hub and both were powered up!! And the 4 ports light up with a nice blue led color that's looks really cool!! Targus should show this in their ads/marketing material because it definitely makes the hub look much cooler! This is a great bargain and perfect for people that need a simple & compact USB hub for all their gadgets.Definitely recommended!!

PROS

Small

Cute

Self-powered - comes with a power adaptor. I have 6 devices hooked up to it, including 2 USB Hard Drives, and it works fine without the adapter - a big plus for me. Most hubs would not work with this setup.

USB 2.0 & 1.1 - 6 devices hooked up, 3 low speed and 3 high speed, all work very well.

Runs cool.

CONS

Not sure why, but they put the 7 ports on one side of the hub and power/uplink ports on the other. This is dumb. If you have the hub on a desk it looks awkward. All ports should be on the back and leds on the front. Here, the leds are next to each port which makes them completely useless as you don't see them.

The hub is very light so when you have lots of devices hooked up the font gets a elevated.

Overall, the best hub I've ever had and I tried many.

It's speedy and space saving and inexpensive. I bought this to replace my Belkin because the Belkin needed to be plugged in. This one is powered by your computer so there's no extra power cords, which is a big plus to me.

The only thing I dislike about this is the fact that the Hub takes up two Usb ports instead of just one like the Belkin. - 4 Port - 4 Port Usb Hub - Computer - 4-port Usb Hub

Compact Flash - udma, cf card

My friend wanted a UDMA memory card for his new Nikon D700 so I ordered the Sandisk Extreme using Amazon Prime. The card came very quickly, and a few thousand shots later, we're both very impressed.

Sandisk gives this card a 60MB/s rating (400x) and markets it towards DSLR users, primarily because they are the ones who will most likely be able to enjoy the advantages and notice the speed difference. Compared to my old generic 133x (20 MB/s) non-UDMA memory card, the improvements ranged from barely noticeable to fantastically faster.

The D700 has a large buffer so even when using a slowish card, the camera is equally responsive when taking single shots and non-RAW bursts. The differences become obvious when using continuous drive and flushing the buffer. Compared to the generic 133x card, the Sandisk Extreme shot faster, longer and was able to flush the buffer almost twice as fast.

In order to enjoy the advantages of UDMA memory cards, you first need a camera that supports it. To get the files out of the memory card faster, you'd also want to pair the card with a memory card reader than can keep up. While USB 2.0 has a theoretical peak maximum transfer rate of 60 MB/s, the practical rate of most USB card readers is 20MB/s or less. In fact, using my generic USB card reader, I couldn't tell the difference between copying/moving files between the Sandisk Extreme and my 133x. (I wouldn't bother with UDMA USB 2.0 Card readers either since they're not significantly faster) Personally, I'd go for a firewire-based reader like this: Lexar Compact Flash Firewire Reader or maybe an ExpressCard reader. Various reviews show that the Lexar firewire reader is 2-3x faster than a USB card reader.

ADDED 10/19/2010: USB 3.0 is also a fantastic option!

Keep in mind that this is not the only UDMA card that Sandisk makes. The Extreme IV's and Extreme III's 30 MB/s and faster are also UDMA enabled. (Extreme III 20 MB/s is not) Generally speaking, if a CF card is rated at 30 MB/s or faster, it supports UDMA.

If you need a new CF memory card and your camera supports UDMA, there's no reason not to pick one of these up. (Other than they're still a bit pricey) You'll have the best possible shooting experience with no drawbacks. Also, even if you don't opt to get the fast card reader, the USB readers will still work. SanDisk Extreme - Flash memory card - 16 GB - 400x - CompactFlash

This card works well with my 7D. It can take 18mp JPEGs at 8 FPS all day long without choking or slowing down. It also does 1080p video well. I suppose what I'm saying is that it does what it's suppose to and does it well. What more can I ask for?

I've been using a Canon 5D Mark II for the last 2 weeks and got this card to use with it. It has worked very well and kept up with my photo taking with no problems. I've also used it to capture video and that has been problem free as well. I have been satisfied with previous SanDisk cards that I have purchased and that is why I purchased this one. If you have a camera that can take advantage of the added speed UDMA cards I would recommend this card without any problems.

Received my card July 23rd (Nextweb fulfilled). Used it for first time on July 25th with a Nikon D300s. When extracted from the D300s, I noticed a rattle inside the card. As a lifelong (and dedicated)user of Sandisk memory products, I was shocked. The outside of the card appears fine, card was not dropped, and to top it off, the card continues to function (for now) at an incredible speed.

As there are significant counterfeiting issues with these cards (which is why I never buy them from EBay), and Nextweb (not Amazon) was the supplier of the card, I did some research to determine if the card was a counterfeit. Short answer is no. This card is genuine Sandisk. A number of users report a similiar rattle with certain Sandisk Compact Flash cards. Sandisk has not yet addressed the issue.

Needless to say, this card is going back. I will try another. I cannot risk losing my images. I am a little surprised by Sandisk quality control.

I will update review when I receive the new card.

I don't typically write reviews, but this story has to be shared. I was out shooting for fun one day and forgot that I stuck one of the memory cards in my pocket as a backup. I don't normally put anything in my pockets. You guessed it - it went into the washer. My husband took the clothes out of the washer and put in towels, and ran a SECOND wash, and only after that did he discover the memory card (in its case) at the bottom of the washer. When he brought it to me, my heart sank. "There goes a hundred bucks," I thought. Of course, there weren't any pictures on it that hadn't been backed up, since I always do that immediately after shoots, but I was sad that the card was probably fried. I stuck it in my SanDisk Fire Wire card reader and WHOA - not a single image was lost or corrupted. NOT A SINGLE ONE WAS GONE. I don't think I'll be taking this out on professional photoshoots just as a caution but for personal shooting it's been functioning perfectly. In short, I will always buy these cards in the future, they take good care of your images. - Udma - Cf Card - Photography - 16gb

Fiberglass - repair, shower

My child slipped in our fiberglass tub/shower enclosure and put a crack in the side of the tub portion. She was fine thankfully, but the size of the crack made her more upset than the fall itself! It was quite large and also uneven. I looked at professional repair - was too expensive and seemed silly for a tub over 15 yrs old. I would sure love a whole new enclosure, but just don't have the money right now.

I started looking at many DIY products and finally picked this one as it seemed the simplest to use. And, it was! The patching material was easy to apply (goes on similar to spackling paste) and filled the crack well despite the size and uneven edges. The repaired area does show, as my Lasco tub is more 'off-white' than true white or almond, so the colors the kit comes with didn't match exactly. That likely won't be an asset should I ever want to sell my home, but the tub is usable and that was the important part. Product cleans up easily and requires very little effort to use. I would definitely recommend this for anyone who needs to repair a tub or shower quickly and economically. Would've given five stars except for the color matching issue. Elmer's E786 Tub & Shower Repair Kit

Bought this product to repair some fine cracks in the floor of a 25 year old tub/shower insert. The crack was about 8-10" long, the thickness of a strand of hair, and could be felt with your finger.

CONS - Throw away the ultra thin gloves that come with the product. They are ill fitting and the resin putty sticks to them to the point that it can't be worked. I used bare hands and the cleanup was easy.

PROS - I needed an almond color match and combining one stick of brown and one of white was a close match. Keep in mind that tubs, like cars, change color over time so a perfect match just isn't going to happen. I was pleased. The dough kneads easily and you have about 20 minutes to work with it. I first roughed up the floor of the tub with a belt sander in order to give the putty something to bite into. Found that applying the putty was easier if I kept my hands and the spreader moist. The spreader was most effective when used to press the putty flat, not drawn across it. Get it as smooth as possible because it sets up very hard. Waited 24 hours, altho the instructions don't require that much time before finish sanding. Seems to be very strong and I would buy it again.

I just applied this to the vertical end of my bone colored Lasco fiberglass tub. I had a horizontal split/crack about 2 inches long. I sanded the crack then mix some almond and white together and applied it to the crack but it was too dark so i scraped it off and started over. I mixed the white epoxy by itself (looks bright white but after mixing...the hardener turns it a perfect bone color match). Unless you knew where the patch job was...it would be very difficult to detect. It looks awesome. Make sure you take your time mixing colors for a close match and you will be happy. Only took me about 30 minutes to apply and clean up. It's drying now so I don't know how well it will seal or how durable it will be so I'm going to give it 4 out of 5 stars. I would highly recommend.

I had a hole about the size of a nickel in my one piece shower.tub. If you've used Mighty putty, then this will seem very familier to you. There are three viles of putty, each a different color. You select the one that best matches your tub or mix them together to attain the desired color. You activate it by kneading the putty. You know you've activate it when it begins to smell god awful. At that point you apply it to the prepared area where the hole is located. You dont have a lot of time to work with the putty, it will harden pretty fast. Depending on how good you are at molding it you'll find this a good product or a great product. Its nearly imposable to color match it perfectly but its durability hasn't disappointed after a couple of months in place. For the price, its a great solution.

I am so glad I found this product. I have a fiberglass shower stall in our basement bathroom that we have never used since we use the master bath closest to the bedrooms. I have only cleaned it once in the 10 yrs we have lived here since it was never used and never dirty I only did a quick wipe with a bit of windex and a paper towel.I never noticed all the cracks that were "repaired" by the former homeowner. The home inspector also never made note of all the "repairs". The so-called repairs were made using some type of paper product and a bit of matching paint to cover.

I recently updated the whole bathroom and didn't want the cost of replacing a shower we never use so I asked my (alleged) plumber to repair the cracks I had noticed. No problem, he said. After I had to get another plumber to repair the toilet he installed, the sink he installed and repair my newly laid floor from his incompetence, I decided to check the shower repair work. Alleged Plumber's solution was to paint a clear sticky substance over the old repairs. He did not sweep any of my drywall dust out of the shower prior and applied his solution over drywall dust. So, I had to clear all this away before using the Elmers. Rubbing alcohol removed all the former repairs easily.

I then read all the reviews available here on the Elmer's as the directions seemed just too easy. It was easy. Super easy. I did not get a perfect color match because I have an off-white unit. I think if a tube of yellow was included my match would have been absolutely perfect.

My tips: Apply less than you think you need. In a way this does work like spackle BUT it does not sand away easily like spackle. Like the other reviewer states- throw away the gloves and use your wet fingers to apply. I kept a cup of water handy to keep wetting my fingers. It is the same concept as flouring your work surface before the dough is rolled. In this case water is the key.

I did apply too much of the product and it is not sanded easily with the sandpaper provided. I used my power sander and got better result.

This stuff stinks worse than a port-o-let so eat lunch before you use it. In my case, you CAN see my repairs but only if you stick your head in the shower stall. But in my case I had at least 20 long cracks and one large hole the size of a golf ball to repair. To repair the hole I did the repair in 2 stages waiting for stage 1 to set up- then in stage two I worked off of the cured putty to finish the hole. This tells you how much of the product you receive. I would absolutely buy this again. - Tub - Shower - Repair - Sink

VIZIO XVT3D424SV 42-Inch Full HD 3D Edge Lit Razor LED with Smart Dimming LCD HDTV 480 Hz SPS with VIZIO Internet Apps

VIZIO XVT3D424SV 42-Inch Full HD 3D Edge Lit Razor LED with Smart Dimming LCD HDTV 480 Hz SPS with VIZIO Internet Apps
First of all let me say that I was watching TV in 3D to work intensively with computers all day and have a thorough knowledge of the technical aspects of each piece of equipment. This TV is really for your money. The refresh rate is 480 Hz or less as a test of your future together and you can be sure any updates or HDMI to 3D technology will be able to be provided by the firmware for all. I love the game and if you are a player like me who wants a fantastic past without blurring the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC ... I sent the ring to TV and it came out like Tyson in his prime.

3D will be available through the voodoo that this series is 1080p @ 24Hz similar to the current bluray players. All other formats are supported (like the ones you get from cable or streamed or downloaded on YouTube and Netflix soon .... what are usually called SBS or side by side, this set also takes into above and below of which is simply another form of SBS uses all of these formats in games or programs and cable set-top-notch ride here while the resolution of the HD range because the technology is active.)

To sum it up this set is at the top of the 3D market for a few reasons.

1) Active technology running on 1080p@24hz as of now is the only tech that give you a full 1080p HD picture with no loss where passive interleves the picture cutting the resolution in half and this is a no go for most gamers.

2) Active SBS technology takes that same 1080p signal and splits the images into two angles then recombines them to give you still an HD signal but closer to 720p than 1080p but has become the standard for most cable providers, netflix, youtube ect. due to the bandwith it saves. If your set is SBS passive then i feel bad for you cause you have 2 forms of loss happening now the first splitting that 1080p signal into two images then the interleaving for 3D effect..... giving you close to a 540i signal.

3) LED TV!!!! And not only led but full array led. This means your blacks are darker and your colors are more defined crisp and sharp. There are litterally red green and blue leds in your set that can now illuminate to help the color portfolio of each pixel on your screen. Top of the line in LCD technology.

3)PC 3d gaming can be done either by nvidia's solution or ATI HD3D and iz3d drivers. Nividia's setup is a bit simpler but performance is lacking and usually you have to scale the graphics down for the framerate to pick up. I've recently updated my video card to the ati HD 5670 and could not be happier. First off you will want to get the iz3d driver and make sure you chose the full install of the release canidate. Purchase the AMD 3DHD license which is half off. Make sure your LCD is connected via HDMI and in the catalist control panel select the 1080p@24hz resolution and scale it to 0 overscan. Enable the iz3d driver and you will be well on your way. Any other refresh rate will work great on the tv under normal circumstances but it needs to be running at 24hz to use the amd HD3D features.

We got this TV recently and has exceeded our expectations. The packaging is perfect, the installation was a breeze and the picture is incredible. If you can think of anything then it would be a Windows Media Center (Extender) app, but you can always hope. In short, we are completely satisfied with this unit. We have no current interest in 3D so you do not try, but the capacity is another advantage for the future. The Wi-Fi setup was quick and easy with great reception.

Usb Speakers - laptop speakers, portable speakers

I build PCs occassionally for myself and friends. I am also an audiophile. These speakers were purchased just to test my PC builds. However, as I was loading software one evening, I decided to test them on a variety of music. Note, they use a speaker plug for the sound signal and a UBS connector for power. Here's what I found: 1) sound level was high enough for listening at your desk or in an office sized room, 2) low end was adequitely present but weak, & 3) instruments were exceptionally clear and detailed. These speakers are great for listening to Jazz or classical music. They are adequate for rock but if you really want to feel the bass, you have to go larger and with more power. For the money, they are pretty good. Four stars only because they don't do everything well. However, in their class, they should rate 5 stars. Philips SPA2210/27 Notebook USB Speakers

I needed an inexpensive set of USB-powered speakers for a particular task and decided to purchase these based on price and appearance. Speakers arrived quickly and in working order. The speakers are nice looking and feel solid. Sound output is a little low but of good quality. All wires are permanently attached and are too long to store inside the built-in cord management cavities.

These speakers are an amazing deal. The sound quality is superb (maybe not as heavy on the options but it serves my purpose). I'm using it with my Toshiba Satellite laptop (whose built-in speakers are quite low) and am greatly enjoying the experience.

The speakers work but they need a headphone jack for audio in. The usb port is just for power. My computer clips the low end sounds from my headphone jack and is not adjustable. That is why I needed speakers that got power and sound from the usb port. It's misleading the way they explain it, and they only show a usb port in the picture. Wish I would have read the other review that points this out.

If you are like me, a person who uses his laptop alot for music and movies, then these wonderful speakers are just the thing. I have a great computer that goes everywhere with me, and for whatever I may need or want to do. Like most computers the built-in speakers are marginal at best. Wouldn't it be nice to have a small set of speakers, that are powered by your computer, sans needing batteries all of the time, and have a quick set up resulting in a rich full sound? Well I did, and love these speakers.

I have read many of the reviews and folks, remember this. THE PRICE!!!!! For the price, you just cannot beat Amazon reduced pricing that makes them so great. My speakers are way-cool, enough bass to have a rich sound, but remember folks, they ain't Bose speakers. I got my pair for way under $20. Music sounds great, full and rich. Movies are better with my new speakers. And if you can spread them out, since you get enough cord, the dynamic sound is awesome. I highly recommend these to anyone that is looking for value versus quality. Inthis case there is a very nice balance.

Samsung UN46C8000 Great 3D TV, Great Picture, Great Design, Great Deal!

I like my new Samsung UN46C8000. I upgraded from a 27-inch tube HDTV. It is a good TV, but the screen was not big enough. I'm sitting 15 meters from the screen because of how our stay was built. This TV is very easy to see at that distance, I was afraid I had to go to 55-inch model, but was 50% percent more than what I paid for this TV. Television is much more clear, black levels are superb and the colors are good once the melody. I went on Google and on this TV and I found some good video settings of CNET. I managed to get the bundle with a Samsung blu-ray player and a starter kit free of charge. Talk to the other, is great. My only complaint is the placement of TV input, the lack of integrated wireless and automatic brightness adjustment.

This is too close the edge of the TV, and if you have cable as thick as mine, which hangs over the edge of the HDTV. Samsung to include 90 degree adapters or move the location of the inputs. Not to mention that I could barely get my HDMI cable, the inputs are mounted almost too superficial. The rearview mirror, each time off a few lights in the house, the TV turns off automatically. This would not be a problem if a little gray, but its so dark, I go into the menu and change the video settings every time you turn on the lights. I'm sure Theres must be a setting somewhere to disable it. Only a small inconvenience. Finally, the wireless function, I searched before I bought the TV, so I knew that I would not ... How is it that my $200 Nintendo Wii built in 1600, but my TV is not the U.S. dollar? Devices stupid.

I just moved my modem and wireless router behind the TV and the cable works great! The ability to use the DLNA streaming video from my phone Android is impressive, the ability to watch YouTube on the software without a computer or TV using my Wii, even better! I bought my cable and swivel wall Monoprice dot com. Purchased for about the same here, but the search function to wall mount is horrible here.

I spent an hour looking on Amazon to find the appropriate support. I gave up and went to Monoprice. 3D is cool, I tried a couple of minutes with a clear 3D blue ray Shrek, which I had with the starter kit. Its cool, I can not wait to see something cooler with it. This TV can also upconvert 2D content to 3D, a feature that did not even know he had. So great! It is not as good as the output format in 3D, but still pretty cool.

I like this Samsung 3D TV UN46C8000

This is great 3D TV. The blacks are blacks, not of ghosts (including video games) and smart features of the Internet are to die for. You can watch Netflix on your TV, Hulu on TV more, and watch movies on your USB drive, but this TV (just connect to the internet). This means that if you have this TV, you can just put in the room and you have nothing connected to it if you do not want.

The sound is pretty good and the screen size is to be seen to be believed. I moved into an apartment and I could not get a big TV, simply because I had to take the stairs (not fun when you wear a monstrous TV). Fortunately, the new Samsung is the right size that I can bring up the stairs without problems or tensions. I connected my Xbox and my PS3 connected to the image quality is to die. I bought the HDMI 1.4 cable to connect everything, and I use the optical output of the TV for my helmet (which allows me to use the virtual surround sound in my apartment through a series of high-end headphones).

Over all this is a great 3D TV and great value for the price. Much can be done with the TV application and bring a new level. My favorite part of this TV is like black is black while watching a movie. I have not seen the video look this good forever. Just make sure to spend the time necessary to get the image to look right, otherwise the results may vary (when I had the TV, everything looked like a Spanish soap opera because of 240 Hz) so that it is worth read.

This is a best TV you can get the best price at the time. 3D is still new, so maybe the change will happen next year and perhaps a better fate with the best support for 3D TV. I would not buy this TV only for 3D support (even though I can not lie, I can not wait to play 3D games on my PS3 now), but I would buy this TV because the image is the best you can get. The blacks are blacks, the sound is very clear and the video quality is to die, the images are so vivid and life as if it was better than being there.

My favorite feature in this TV does not have Skype (which is simply fantastic), Hulu or Netflix is not (again, amazing), nor the ability to connect a hard drive or USB key and watch videos off it or the fact that the TV takes up very little heat, consume little, and has little or no light. No, my favorite feature is something that can be overlooked by many people is the optical audio output. This means that I can use on all HDMI devices connected to your TV and audio output of my TV.

This is important if you use a surround sound (that only I can choose to days), but is important if you plan to output audio in a virtual surround headphone (such as Astro or Turtle Beach) that I use to enjoy the full sound my apartment (because of neighbors complaining of loud explosions, screams and chaos ...)

With optical integrated TV, eliminates a lot of cables and peripherals. And I do not have to go optical cables every time I go to another source, everything is run by the television. If you want a TV output and not the helmet? Just change the option from the menu and ready to go. It is a well thought-TV, which offers premium features at a decent price. Really offers a great viewing experience. Highly recommended.

Escort Passport Radar Detector - 9500ix, escort passport radar

WHICH ONE IS BETTER? READ AND FIND OUT. I bought both the Escort 9500ix and Beltronics GX65 for a week long, on dash, real world comparison. They both are sold by the same company and they offer a 30 day, money back guarantee. I figured, what the heck.....I'll try them out, side by side. These units were both mounted at the same level on the window of my truck.

I read all the reviews I could get my hands on and narrowed it down to these two radar detectors. The Escort 9500ix and Beltronics GX65 models are touted as the most sensitive window mounted units available with the new "GPS" advantage.

DISPLAY- Both units have the option of dim, medium, bright, dark and auto mode. The Escort 9500ix has blue lights. The background of this unit is black, but glows blue around the numbers, to a point of skewing the display a little bit. At night, it is easier to read. The Beltronics GX65 has red lights with a pure black background. The GX65 display is crystal clear, day or night. Advantage Beltronics GX65. Importance - Moderate.

POWER CORD- While sitting behind the wheel, the Escort 9500ix cord plugs in on the left hand side of the detector unit. The Beltronics GX65 cord plugs in on the right hand side. Depending upon the set up of your vehicle, SPECIFICALLY THE LOCATION OF YOUR POWER SUPPLY, this could make a big difference. Both of the detectors have a dark display mode, where the display goes completely black (for night use, so other drivers can't see your detector). While using dark mode, the only thing that lights up is the very end of the power cord, where it plugs into the power supply. The unit still makes sound, but only you will be able to see the light at the power supply. Very ingenious idea! Advantage to neither. It depends upon the location of you power supply. Importance - Moderate

SIZE and BUTTONS - Both units of virtually the same size, however, I personally prefer the shape and button layout of the Beltronics GX65. Importance - Low

WINDOW MOUNT - Both the 9500ix and GX65 use the same exact window mounts. For an expensive $500 dollar radar detector, I feel that the mounts are very cheesy. My old mount on my $79 Whistler was superior to this window mount. Both of these units tap the window when driving. This is due to the design of the mount. The mother company needs to improve this window mount in my opinion. Importance - Moderate

GPS "LOCKOUT" CAPABILITY - Both units have the ability to "Lockout" any false signal. When you know the detector is sensing a false signal, all you need to do is tap a button three times and it will permanently lock out the false signal. This is an absolutely fantastic feature. Both detectors also have the ability to warn you of red light cameras, photo cameras and speed traps. This is also a nice advancement. You can manually set the detector to warn you of any known speed trap in your area. Nice feature! The only GPS negative is when you're driving down the interstate and you drive over an intersection with a red light camera. The detector will sound, even though your not going through the light. This is the only negative I've found regarding the GPS system. Importance - VERY HIGH

AUTO LEARN - This feature is only on the 9500ix. You drive a false signal 3 times and the 9500ix will automatically lock out the signal permanently. For any proactive person (most people who purchase a radar detector!), this feature is not that important. The moment I drive by any false signal, I lock it out immediately. Why would I wait to drive by it 3 times? It only takes three taps of a button. On the other hand, for someone who is electronically challenged, this feature might be a lifesaver. With this feature, theoretically, after a few weeks of driving, you should be able to drive around your home area, never touch your detector and all false signals will be locked out. Therefore, no more false alarms, Police warnings only! Advantage: Escort 9500ix. Importance - Moderate

SENSITIVITY - This area is the most important of all. The reviews and tests I've read online, showed the 9500ix as being slightly more sensitive to Ka, K band and laser. It's only a few hundred feet, but that could be the difference between a speeding ticket or not.

These results are not scientific, but in every situation I encountered, the 9500ix picked up true police radar a second to a few seconds quicker the the GX65. This is really the main reason I decided to keep the Escort Passport 9500ix. In my opinion (and the scientific results back it up), the sensitivity of the 9500ix is superior to the GX65. Advantage: Escort Passport 9500ix. Importance - CRUCIAL.

THE WINNER, and better detector where it matters most is.................. the ESCORT PASSPORT 9500ix. I shipped the Beltronics GX65 back for a full refund. Escort Passport 9500ix Radar/Laser Detector (Black) - 9500ix - Passport - Escort Passport Radar - Escort Passport Radar Detector

Samsung C8000 Series 's last firmware version was improves 3D performance

If you've read many reviews for UN46C8000, you know that a common criticism was ghosts when displaying shadows and 3D source material. With the release of the June 28th firmware, this problem is very small and the 3D is spectacular. The new firmware also adds support for a new "3D Optimize" menu option of this 3D TV. Select this option appears to reduce ghosting and enhances the 3D effect.

Samsung seems to have done something to reduce the amount of eye strain caused by wearing 3D glasses. Now I can wear for hours and not notice any particular problem. Unfortunately, there are very few 3D hardware available yet, but the 3D DirecTV broadcasts are excellent, probably as good as my 3D Blu-ray.

For others, no 3D, this TV is simply superb. If you want to make the most of it, I recommend you read the review in the Home Theater journal site and then set the TV using the recommended settings. Unless you're already an expert in the creation of a TV like this, it is likely to get much better results from the parameters suggested that began with the factory default settings.

In addition, make sure you update the firmware before adjusting the settings, because the firmware clears the custom configuration. Then write down the settings and save them for next time you need to do a firmware update.

Another element that I wanted to say is that several websites, including televisioninfo said that television "has a dynamic contrast ratio of very heavy" that can not be stopped. Nothing could be further from the truth. Dynamic Contrast can be adjusted or turned off completely under the Advanced menu. When it's off, I have not noticed any negative effect on the image of some of these comments.

Multi Port Hub - usb hub, portable

This product looks very cool. It has a lot of LED lights which to me is very colorful and looks cool. And it is not very bright which is a plus because sometimes bright LED lights on any electronics can get very annoying. Also, the cord is short which means this is more preferable for laptop use because as a user I don't want long cords attached to my laptop. It makes it very accessible and hassle free. There are only 4 USB slots on it which is all right to me. I have an external hard drive attached to it, a bluetooth USB, a PS3 controller, and my phone all attached to it. This is, by the way, attached to my laptop. So, yea it works perfectly fine and the build is great too. It looks well made and the picture doesn't do justice because it really looks professionally well made. Slick black color and not very bright LED lights (which is again a plus).

I really recommend this product to anyone. Thank you for reading this. Connectland CL-U2MNHUB-4B 4 Ports USB V2.0 Mini Hub (Black)

I have a Popcorn Hour A110 and it has one USB port in the back. The PCH supports an internal HD and whatever you connect to the USB port. So in order to expand the number of HDs I can connect to the PCH I needed a hub! This one is inexpensive, self-powered, and works like a champ. I have daisy-chained two of these together. True I lose one port since it's used to connect the second hub but now I can connect 7 drives to my PCH. I currently have 4 x 1TB drives hooked up to my PCH and expect to get more in the near future. If I fill up all the ports you can be sure I'll buy another hub to daisy-chain to the current hubs. Great product and I will buy again.

Given the other reviews I'm willing to believe I simply got a hub from a bad batch, but this hub is unusable for me. The USB connector is poorly soldered to the cable ("new" the insulation was already pulling away from the usb connector), and the connections on the hub side are *very* loose. Several times I've had cables simply fall out, which I don't have to tell you is somewhat of an issue. Moving this hub while devices are connected is simply out of the question. A little bit of duct tape fixes all when I use the hub on one of my desktop computers, but that's a bit absurd on the road. I've since replaced this hub with the Belkin Ultra Mini Hub F5U407 which is of substantially higher build quality; I've had no issues with the cable or hub connections. I will say I do like the design of this hub; it's small and has all the ports in a line, which I prefer. But, given the inconsistency in making a solid connection this hub is simply destined for the unused electronics box.

Can you ever have enough USB ports? Of course not. So, looking for something cost effective and worthwhile, I decided to give this a try. It works great! And for less than $10, you can't complain a bit. I don't know why they give you the option to turn off each individual port when you can just unplug it, but no big deal for me. Also, I could not notice a significant drop in data transfer when I plug in my external HDDs to it. Construction does seem a tad cheap, so I'd imagine if you were unplugging and plugging in different cables all day, ever day, it'd probably work some wires loose internally eventually. It serves me great for my use, as most of my USB stuff is a 1 time plug in and I'll never touch them again. But seriously, this thing is dirt cheap, you can't ask for much more!

Cheap. Small. Simple. Works.

The ports are quite snug for the male usb's, so don't try to push the usb in too hard.

Keep in mind, that the power does get split in half/thirds/etc when you insert 2, 3, or more; however I use a bluetooth/wireless keyboard and mouse and put the usb receiver on the Hub with additional things like a usb-powered laptop fan, and an ipod charger, and the receiver has never dropped wireless connection (which to me is the most important). I haven't tested using big, power-hungry usb electronics on the hub, and rightly, I don't plan to. I don't think that'll turn out well.

The hub has one red light to show that it's powered and 4 other blue lights that light up for each port that's in use (I didn't know about this when I got it and was delighted to be able to go "Ooo pretty lights!"). It even has a handy on/off switch for each port so you don't even have to unplug electronics from the hub if you don't want that particular item to hog up the computer's usb power.

I ordered this after several unsuccessful inexpensive 4-port hub purchases. Most of the others did not function. I thought I'd give this a try. I liked the slightly long cable that enables it to be positioned away from the usb port but not so long that I'd need to use some sort of harness to keep it short. Well, this is perfect! A possible bonus is that each port can be turned on/off. Very pleased with this product and the price was reasonable. - Portable - Usb Hub - Multi Port Hub - Usb Ports
