Hot Pot Express - hot water, tea kettle

I love this little pot! It boils water and cooks everything very fast!! I have one at home and one for my travels. This little hot pot is terrific when one is away from home and has no kitchen. The non-stick bottom makes this pot a breeze to clean up! I have dietary restrictions and can not go out and "grab a bite" like most other people, when I am not near my house. I especially recommend this pot to anyone who may suffer the same problem as me. I would be lost without this pot, when I need to be away from home. :-)

At my workplace we have no hot water dispenser. Before this, I was resorting to microwaving a mug of hot water. I was recommended this device as a tool for shaving, but I found that it got the water a little too hot for my shaving needs. I took it into work and have been loving the thing ever since. In the time it takes me to clean a spoon in the sink and get yogurt out of the fridge, the water is hot enough for tea. The exterior stays quite cool and can be picked up and touched immediately even when the water inside is scalding hot. I've even boiled milk, water, and black tea together in this unit without problems. Cleans quite easily.

I bought one of these close to ten years ago and it's still going strong, though I've taken it on three cross-country trips, countless weekend getaways and even to Guatemala.

Why? First, I don't like using hotel/motel coffee units -- who knows how clean their innards are? This holds more liquid, is easy to clean, and I know where it's been!

Second, it's useful for more than just heating water. I once took my daughter to a nice Disneyland hotel for four days, and did all our cooking in this little pot because food was so pricey. I heated soup, ramen, veggies, all kinds of things... and we actually ate well (though simply) the whole time.

Other reviewers have noted that it doesn't have auto shut-off. That's a good point, and it's a bit of a pain, particularly when you're as forgetful as I am. But the water always boils loudly enough that I hear it. Could be a problem in everyday use if you are wandering from room to room; fine for a motel.

The flip side is being able to adjust the heat level, which I don't think you could do if the unit shut off automatically. I've found that VERY handy for things that need a gentle heat, and use that feature a lot.

Power cord is frustratingly short, but necessarily so for safety reasons.

Naturally, anything that holds 32 oz. of water is a little bulky, but when I put it in my suitcase I just jam socks and breakables into it, so it ends up taking less room than you'd think. You can snap the top off, which is also a help when packing it. It's fairly lightweight.

The reason I'm back at this page is that my daughter just went to college and took the pot with her. I need a replacement for my travels without her! I was amazed to find the same pot is still being sold after all these years. That's probably a good sign about its quality in an era when things get redesigned every year.

At this price, if it lasted a year or two of steady use, I think I'd still be happy.

Rival 4071-WN 32-Ounce Hot Pot Express

Great for cooking soups, noodles, vegetables, and much more. The Hot Pot boils water up to 60% faster than a microwave and it's easy to clean non-stick cooking surface.

Aroma Cordless Water Kettle - electric kettle, cordless tea kettle hot water

Whether for tea or or hot oatmeal, this water kettle has performed perfectly. Before I purchased this I tended to use the microwave to heat water. Can't believe what a waste of time and energy that was, not to mention possibly unhealthy. This kettle is even faster than your stove top.

The interior is about 98% metal except for a very tiny amount of plastic. I didn't taste anything bad regardless and my sense of smell/taste is fairly strong.

My only concern is that the instructions clearly say to unplug the kettle when not in use. There's an auto shut-off after the water is boiled so either the manufacturer is being extra extra cautious or they believe there could be a problem. Would prefer to just leave it plugged in and not worry about it, but I follow the directions.

Ever since I got my first electric kettle, I have been a fan of them, corded or not. I went ahead and bought this one from my local Target. It works like a dream-boils water very fast, is well-designed and the handle stays cool. I can tell about where the temperature the water is at by the sound, so if I don't want it at a rolling boil, I can get it the temp I want. The best feature for me is the lid. A while ago, with another kettle, the lid fell off as I was pouring and my hand was BADLY scalded while the steam hit me, and I held on to the D*** thing and set it down in fear that the hot water would spill over the rest of me if I threw it. It was extremely painful. The lid on this kettle is ATTACHED BY A HINGE AND SNAPS SHUT SECURLY. I feel confident that the same accident and injury will not happen with this one.

I've owned a lot of electric kettles over the past 25 years. This one looks great (it's so shiny it's like a mirror), boils very fast, and most importantly, shuts off in about 12-15 seconds. I was unhappy with the best-selling Chef's Choice kettle, as it just took too long to turn off (30-45 seconds was normal). I think the water tastes better in this one also. Maybe it was a good idea after all to have ruined the Chef's Choice by accidentally putting it on top of a gas stove...

Aroma AWK-115S Hot H20 X-Press 1-1/2-Liter Cordless Water Kettle

  • Electric hot-water kettle boils up to 1-1/2 liters at cup-a-minute speed

  • 360-degree swivel base for cordless pouring; shuts off automatically after boiling

  • Water-level indicator; comfortable stay-cool handle; nondrip spout

  • Polished stainless-steel housing; removable, washable spout filter

  • Measures approximately 8 by 8 by 9 inches; 1-year limited warranty

Don't confuse the electric tea kettle with waffle irons, bread makers, esspresso machines, and veg-a-matics--this is a vital kitchen appliance. This unit, the Aroma 1.5L, is a great plus for tea drinkers. It is quick, safe, very user friendly, and has visual appeal. The methodology is far superior to a stove-top kettle for the following reasons: you're able heat the appropriate quantity of water--no more, no less--thanks to the water level marker on the side; the unit heats water much faster than the stove top; the unit shuts off once the water comes to a boil--no more head-splitting whistle, no more desperate calls to the Fire Department after you have forgotten about the back burner. Get one, you will be glad you did.

I needed a second kettle and didn't want to shell out about $90+ for another Braun WK600 Stainless kettle (which I am happy with). So I bought this Aroma. Not as heavy, but more aesthetic, boils water fast and fully satisfactory. While I have had for less than a week, it's performed very well.

One reviewer said that the "on" switch at the bottom of the pot broke. I noticed that it takes a very light touch to engage, so maybe if a heavy touch is used, this switch could break. Time will tell whether it's a durable product but at this time I'm very happy with the kettle.

It is so efficient that we often use it to heat up water before putting it in a pan on the stove. It is much faster. When we are making pasta we will put a small amount of water in a large pan and fill the teapot. The water in the pot is boiling before the water on the stove. The pot is light, even when full, and has no aftertaste like I have read some of the plastic ones do.

Glass Water Kettles - capresso, electric kettle

This kettle is so much more than what I expected. All the stovetop kettles I have used over the years took a few minutes to boil the water. This kettle takes 90 seconds, sometimes less. It is just amazing, and it shocks people when they first see it in action. Honestly, it took a while to adjust to it's speed - you get in a groove and think, OK I have this much time to get my coffee/tea/oatmeal ready while I wait for the water to boil. Then, 90 seconds later, you remember that things are different now that you own this kettle. I could not be happier with my purchase. This kettle cost the same on Amazon as it did elsewhere - but on Amazon, the shipping was monumentally less. On one kitchen supply website, they wanted to charge me $38 for ground shipping!! Not so with Amazon, very inexpensive shipping and it arrived very quickly. I am the most satisfied customer you could imagine - and this transaction typifies Amazon in my opinion: great products and great, inexpensive (but quality) service. I'd give this item and transaction 10 stars if I could.

While reading this reviews for this product (and other kettles) I was really worried about the smell issues that so many people have mentioned. But this pot has also received top reviews from other sources so I was torn. I finally decided to give it a try. We have had no problem with what so ever. What is arrived we boiled a pot of water and dumped it as suggested. And used it every day since. The water heats up quickly and the handle stays cool. Some mentioned that it the pot was noisy. I find that I like the bit of noise as I can leave the room but I can tell how far along the process is by the noise it make. And it isn't like it the sound is all that intrusive. It is easy to use and very stylish as well. A great product

I ordered the Capresso but was a little worried about the reviews which talked about a smell some people experienced when the unit was working. Got it, followed the directions and did notice the smell the first couple of times I used it. But, like other reviewers have noted, the smell goes away after a few uses. We've had it two weeks and use it two or three times a day. No smell, quick heating and great looking. you can lengthen or shorten the cord. It's great! No surprise that Americ'as test kitchen ranked it first.

It's very well designed. Boils water very quickly. The electrical cord hides safely under the base which allows you to use only as much cord as you need. The glass the thick and well-made. Has stayed in like-new condition in the two weeks under heavy use---won't need cleaning too frequently.

The glass is also good, because it doesn't look like yet another appliance on my kitchen counter----being glass, it doesn't take up much visual space. Another plus about the glass: you can see how much water is in the kettle.

The kettle fits easily on to the base. You don't need to align it just so, as with some other types of kettles. This only simply fits on to the base and can swivel in full in either direction.

The measuring markings are easy to read and were placed in a thoughtful position.

Although another reader complained about smell, I did not at all have any problem with strange smells. I don't think her/his unit is the norm.

My only complaint---which is an extremely minor one---is that there are no metric markings, only imperial (US, not UK). No big deal, really.

After searching high and low for an electric water kettle that wasn't made of plastic, I finally came across the Capresso. I was hesitant to buy it at first because of the few negative reviews I read here regarding bad tasting water, possible plastic, and a bad smell. I finally went ahead with the purchase after a fruitless search for an alternative. I'm glad I did! This kettle is wonderful. It heats the water up very quickly and I've had no problems with bad tasting water or a bad smell. Though the lid is plastic, the heating element at the bottom of the pot is clearly stainless steel, not plastic. I heartily recommend the Capresso.

The Capresso glass kettle is an efficient, user-friendly, reliable, attractive appliance. It is doubtful that the faint plastic odor which is noticeable when it is new affects the quality or safety of the boiled water. We purchased it approx. 1 month ago and use it several times daily. We are on well water and boil all of our drinking water with the kettle. There is no strange taste. I have used Durgol, a Swiss decalcifier, once to remove the mild mineral deposits on the heating bulb. The deposits on the heating bulb cleared up and the glass is crystal clear. We enjoy using this kettle (we have owned other brands) and hope that it will be a dependable product for a long

time for all who purchase it.

After reading a lot of reviews here at Amazon, I decided I didn't want a plastic kettle. I was also leery of the metal ones because they get so hot. I found one metal one I decided to purchase, and it was no longer available. When I searched on electric kettles again, this one had been added. Many of the reviews were positive, and we liked the idea of boiling in glass, so we decided to give it a try. It's been in daily use for almost 20 months now, multiple times on some days, and we couldn't be more pleased. It heats the water incredibly quickly. The auto shut off is a great safety feature, and I like the soft base which protects your counter when using the carafe away from the base. It's easy to clean, and it looks nice. We've recommended it to several friends, and they are all happy with their purchases. One truth in advertising fact - the "polished chrome" is really plastic, but that doesn't detract from the usability of this great kettle. Great value, durable item, well worth the money. If ours breaks, we will replace it with another just like it - we like it that much. - Capresso - Electric Kettle - Tea Kettle - Boil Water
