Kitchen Utensils - sandwich cutter, sandwich crust cutters

My 2 year old loved the uncrustable sandwiches you can buy in the grocery store frozen, but I did not love the products they used in them. Now I make my own with healthier products and freeze them it work awesome.

Ok, I will first admit that I bought this because it looked cute. I have never heard of it until I saw it here on Amazon, and thought I would give it a shot.

When I got it in a couple of days (and I mean a couple), I opened the package and started to make sandwiches. Here is a bit of caution, all of the directions are in Japanese, and if yours is as rusty as mine, you will get the idea, but miss some good information.

First, the bread does work a little better if it is microwave for a few seconds. Secondly, after centering your first piece of bread, the toppings should go in the center about 1/8" from the edge of the press. Thirdly, press as hard as you can to make the best seal.

This is perfect for 1 and 3 year old. Sandwiches tend to fall apart on them. This keeps them together in little triangle pockets (I fold one piece in half, an option that is on the package). I also like that chicken or egg salad sandwiches don't fall out the back while eating.

The only drawback is that this press takes a few tries to get it right. I had a tendency to overfill or place the fillings too close to the edge. However, a five or six pieces of bread is a small price to pay than uncrustable sandwiches in the freeze section of the grocery store.

I bought this from Amazon and was very pleased with the product. It does what it says it does, but I was dismayed to find that it costs only $2.50 from a Los Angeles Japanese store. Just to let you know that a better price is available out there. - Sandwich Cutter - Sandwich Crust Cutters - Lunch Box - Sandwich

Cuisinart Sandwich Grill - cuisinart, sandwich grill

The product does exactly what it is billed to do: it grills sandwiches quickly. The problem is that the grill is very small, so normal grocery store bread is way too big and it hangs out the side. In addition, if you want to make a bigger sandwich, i.e., stacked with several ingredients, the lid will not close and lock without Herculean strength and the risk of burning yourself. It does OK with two small pieces of bread and a small amount of cheese. But, for that, it's just as easy to heat up a nonstick frying pan. It would be, however, handy for students in dorms or others with no access to a stove.

This is a great little appliance for making good grilled sandwiches FAST! I was surprised that it only took about 2 minutes to grill 2 sandwiches. A green light comes on when they are done, and it's right on - when that light comes on, the sandwiches are perfectly browned. I would have given it five stars, but I think it would be easier to clean if the grilling plates snapped out like some larger sandwich makers out there. Overall, a good buy.

A good deal! Popped up on my Gold Box so I got this for less than the price noted. Easy enough for my eight year old to operate. I used thick slices and low fat margarine even though the directions advised not too...but still turned out good (even though the sandwiches are'nt as pretty as pictured!!!). Would be nice if it had an alarm to note when sandwiches are done.

The design of the hinges (fixed rather than slip-joint} severely limits the thickness of the sandwich you can make. With more than one ingredient in the sandwich, the heating plates are not parallel. The top slice of bread gets toasted unenenly, and the cheese oozes out.

This really is a surprisingly funky little gadget that is getting a lot more use than I thought it would get when I ordered it on an impulse on a Friday sale. I agree with all the five star reviewers, not to repeat anything, but to give it another vote of confidence - if you enjoy grilled cheese sandwiches, you really can't go wrong with this little gadget. (For a fancy treat, try a sandwhich with bakery crafted hard crusted Italian bread and havarti-dill cheese - yumm!)

This little appliance makes a perfect grilled cheese in less time and with less mess than using a skillet. Plus, it makes omelettes, french toast and more. Great buy for a terrific and compact little machine.

I worried that I'd stick this back in the closet next to the smoothie maker and the bread machine. But it sits on our counter and is used nearly every day. The teenagers love it because they can whip up two sandwiches at a time and wolf them down while they cook two more. And the sandwiches cook quickly. Red light means cooking, green light means done. No guesswork! The hardest part about it is getting the kids to stop using up all the bread in one day.Worth every penny.

I bought this sandwich maker as a gift to my wife for this new year. She really liked it and till now itz working GOOD. We love it esp., the color and the quality. Worth for the price paid., not like other cheap sandwich makers... It is cool and makes sandwiches and omlettes in minutes. Our friends also liked it and they would like to buy. Nice product!!!

I bought this sandwich maker so my daughter would be able to make quick sandwiches without my assistance. The Grill works fine but I find that the plates are too small for regular slice bread. My daughter likes to make grilled cheese on this and she usually adds tomatoes and sometimes other ingredients as well. Since the plates are so small the bread hangs on the sides of the grill and if she uses more than one slice of cheese it melts all over the machine. Especially the back where its hard to get it clean. This would have been perfect if it had larger plates.

Grill sandwiches to perfection in minutes. Much faster than using the stove. It seals the fillings into the sandwich, making for less messy eating. A quick wipe with a paper towel and the grill is clean. I use mine all the time! - Cuisinart - Sandwich Grill - Kitchen Appliances - Sandwich

Sandwich Crust Cutters - sandwich cutter, bento

I'm really not sure how this could be any easier to use. You literally just set the sandwich centered on the bottom half and fold. It doesn't take much pressure, and the excess bread crust literally just falls off. Sometimes when I open it after removing the crust, it will sort of 'stick' in the top, but it takes nearly no pressure at all and it falls right out with the edges perfectly sealed!

I've tried everything up to this point that I could find.

- Cookie cutters make cute shapes, but they're often too small and leave oozy edges

- Specially made sandwich cutters (in the shape of hearts, dolphins, dinosaurs, etc), again they're cute and they solve the size problem, but still ooze

- A gadget from a specialty kitchen-wares company that sells through homeshows, right idea but it never quite worked, round shape wasted too much and it never really sealed well

Enter the Krustbuster!

It's so simple to use that my children can do it. Lightweight enough for them to handle, yet still feels sturdy and has held up like new to our month or so of use thus far (including dishwashing everytime). Right size and shape for 'typical' sandwich breads, minimal waste. It also works better with softer breads than I would've thought (some of our previous cutter attempts with other products simply split soft bread, not the case with the Krustbuster). But, the best part is: it works as advertised and SEALS the edges!

It gets most of it's use from peanutbutter and honey, but we'll try egg sandwiches for breakfast (maybe even toasted), hotdogs, maybe even stuffed french toast!

My son refuses to eat the "standard" sandwich for lunch because he claims they are soggy and squished by the time lunch rolls around. I have been buying Smuckers Uncrustables but they are a bit pricey at around $2.50 per box of four. I purchased the Krustbuster in hopes of saving money. Aside from the shape, a square vs. a circle, the finished product is almost identical. I have only given four stars for two reasons. First, it is a bit messy making the sandwiches, due to the peanut butter and jelly crust remnants. Secondly, the bread doesn't always line up and I often have to re-press to remove all the crust. All in all, if you are making more than four sandwiches weekly, it is worth the money.

Great idea, needs some improvement. It needs to be shaped closer to a slice of bread...so less bread is wasted and needs to be slightly sharper. We needed a blunt knife to make clean lines on the edge of the sealed sandwich. Worth getting but needs improvement to a be a wow item. My daughter prepared the pbj's a head of time and put them in the freezer. They make a great on the go snack/dinner. her daughter also enjoys meat sandwiches perpared with the krustbuster. The sealing part of this tool is very effective.

I got one of these to make my own uncrustables b/c who pays over $1 each for those? Well not me. But my kids love em and I love making lunches with them!! I used this product and it works great! It cuts and seals the edges, which is important! {because I already tried it with a biscuit cutter; jelly ooze!} I make 2 loaves of bread worth of pb&js and toss them in sandwich bags in the freezer. thaw and eat! Well worth the money; esp with special offers!

I was making uncrustables within minutes of receiving and washing this. My teenaged sons LOVED them and declared me a great lunch cook... I think this may be my favorite new kitchen gadget.

I just smeared some Goober in the middle of the bread, put it on the base, smashed it down and it was sealed nicely... no spill over and no mess at all. Then I took all the crusts out in the back yard and put them down for the deer, but I suppose you could save them and dry them out for turkey stuffing at holiday time (yum yum!) It was kind of nice having the crusts all in one pile on the counter to use up instead of having to toss out the picked at and pulled off crusts from the kid's lunch plates.

I am planning on making some with cheese in the center tomorrow and seeing how that works out for me... then maybe some kind of pizza pocket sandwich the next day. We are having fun planning uses for this.

Easy, easy, easy!

UPDATE -- We recently used some apple pie filling, sprinkling of cinnamon, buttered the top and toasted under the broiler until the center was hot. Tastes similar to a McD hot apple pie. The kids thought it was a good treat.

I had no idea that they made a Krustbuster. I have purchased those little plastic crust cutouts at the grocery store that always seem to break and I was not sure about this item but when I got it and used it, it was great! I had been buying the PP&J crustables but with this, no problem making them myself and they do seal the sandwiches. My son calls these "pie sandwiches" and we use it for all of his sandwiches. Great product and I would recommend to anyone who's child will not eat the crust from bread. - Sandwich Cutter - Bento - Sandwich - Child Care
