Click here for more information After about 4 months of use, I've been very pleased with this trimmer. Most important (to me), the rotary head cuts painlessly when trimming nose hair. That's a very desirable attribute, as you know if you've ever owned an inferior trimmer that PULLS hairs out (ouch)! This cuts very cleanly and thoroughly.



While plain looking, the trimmer and attachments appear of good quality, especially considering the $10-$13 price. The cover and heads fit tightly, yet attach/detach easily. It's also very easy to clean and has a 2 year warranty. Battery life is a tad shorter than I expected, my first battery lasted 3 months; I don't mind as long as it cuts well.



So far, this has been the best rotary-head trimmer I've owned, and at an almost unbeatable price! If I broke or lost it, I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

Won't stay in the on position. I guess if it stayed on it may do what I bought it to do but, every time you take your finger off the off.on switch it stops. I'd send it back but its to inconvenient, its already in the garbage. Don't buy one.

I used this trimmer on my husband's ears. He found it to be uncomfortable and much too loud. I reverted back to the personal trimmer we normally use. It worked much better. He has not tried the nose trimmer attachment yet, so I can't comment on that. I cannot honestly recommend this product.

I had this trimmer for several years before the plastic on one of the heads broke just enough so it wouldnt stay on unless i held it.

This trimmer worked fairly well, but was a little loud and somewhat inconvenient because you had to switch the heads back and forth to get the right angle. It only took one AA battery, which usually lasted for at least 2 months using it about every other day. It was also pretty durable, as it got knocked around the bathroom drawer and put in and out of bags and suitcases for traveling.

3 stars because it did the job but not as well as some of the others out there. As a replacement, my wife got me the Philips Norelco NT9110 Precision Nose and Ear Trimmer and it works really well. Plus, only one head.

Honestly I have purchased the Philips nose hair trimmer that has the slanted blade and my dog has destroyed it two times my fault of course for leaving out in the open. With that being said the reason I purchased the Wahl is if anything did happen to it I would only be out five buck instead of twelve. I have been trying to get this thing to work all afternoon and the problem with this unit seems to be that the motor and the blades are insufficient both in motor power and blade sharpness and quality. I did notice that the trimmer did cut a couple of nose hairs but it failed to trim them down to the skin and get rid of them. The only reason I went through with this purchase was the fact that Wahl has been around since 1919 and like some people who purchased this I also assumed that since they have been in business so long Wahl would continue to release quality products which they failed to accomplish with this trimmer. In my opinion and when I compare it to my previous trimmer the Philips slanted blade trimmer the Wahl fails at trimming nose, ear, and eyebrow hair which it claims its made to trim. I am really upset about this purchase because this trimmer seems to be more of a toy then a trimmer, you can tell the motor is very low quality I am unsure if this is the problem or its both the motor and blades that are the problem. I dont know why companies produces these low quality products that fail to do the job. Yes this trimmer is the lowest one priced on Amazon but it failed to accomplish its task which is to trim and get rid of nose and ear hairs. I have been shopping around and looked at the manual stainless steel one called the XL trimmer, but really do not feel that I need to put physical work into trimming nose and ear hairs. Maybe I will buy a third Philips trimmer and pray that I remember to not leave it laying around the house. Either way I returned the Wahl this afternoon and gave it two stars for the fact that it wasnt dead on arrival and possibly could meet the needs of someone who has very very minimal nose hair, not to say I have a lot but this just didnt work out for me and I will think twice if I plan to purchase another Wahl product. Click here for more information My first trimmer was a Panasonic ER411NC. It was a very good trimmer, providing me with an elegant solution to a problem that most men start to have once they reach middle age: nasal hair. The Panasonic has a circular tip that has small, slit-like openings. Inside the tip is a spinning blade. The hair gets caught between the slits and the spinning blade. That is how it cuts. I wrote a review of that trimmer back in July of 2004 and gave it 4 stars.



My second trimmer was another Panasonic, ER421KC. This one had a small LED light to help you see while trimming under your nose. I bought it to replace the ER411NC after it fell off the counter and damaged its blades. The ER421NC is very uncomfortable. Althought it uses the same blade design as the ER411NC, the motor seems to be weaker. It is easily stopped. The spinning blade sometimes cannot cut the hair that gets caught between the slits and itself. The hair can force the blades to stop spinning. It will be hard to remove without pulling the hair out. This is very uncomfortable, to say the least. It will bring tears to your eyes.



I bought this Norelco (the subject of this review) to replace the second Panasonic. The design of the Norelco is different. It cannot be forced to stop by your hair. It uses the same cutting design as your sideburn and mustache trimmer. So far, it has proven itself to be comfortable. However, it does take longer and more effort to trim with the Norelco. You will have to make sure that the hairs that you want to trim are caught between the oscillating blades of the trimmer. And, since the blades are small, this could take a few minutes of your time. Whereas with the Panasonic, all you need do is stick the tip in your nose and move it from side to side. With the Norelco, you will have to be more deliberate. However, it is the most comfortable of the three. Plus, you can use the Norelco to trim your eyebrows, if you need that sort of thing. It is also the easiest to clean out of the three.



I believe this will be a good trimmer for you, if you value comfort above any other consideration. This trimmer is waterproof and it can be washed with warm water.

I don't know of anyone who enjoys trimming the hair in their ears and nose. The task is made more daunting by a market full of underpowered, barely useful powered trimmers. Over the years I have purchased many battery powered nose and ear hair trimmers, most of which end up in the garbage within a year or less. I have tried trimmers from Remington, Conair, Wahl and Panasonic. One had a light and one even had a vacuum, and most of them were wet/dry devices that would be rinsed out with water. All seemed like a good purchase at the time but all of them had the same problem: NOT ENOUGH POWER.



Considering that most of these small trimmers are powered by a single AA battery, the lack of power only makes sense. After all, a single AA battery only provides 1.5 volts of power. Another annoying problem is that most of these devices would not maintain a consistent blade speed. I would find that when first turned on the units would sound fine but as soon as I started to cut the motor would start slowing way down and would begin fluctuating between faster and slower speeds. Of course slower blade speed leads to the potential of hairs getting caught, causing the discomfort of pulling. I can honestly tell you that having your nose hairs pulled is extremely unpleasant. Even though it rarely made a difference, I regularly installed new batteries in hopes that the trimmers would provide more power and fast enough blade speed to prevent pulling the hairs in my nose and ears. Eventually I just gave up and threw the device away and would buy a different model.



Recently I decided to give the Philips Norelco NT9110 Precision Nose and Ear Trimmer a try. The patented tube shave technology promises "no pulling and prevents nicks and cuts." I also liked the looks of the angled head, which claims to give better reach and control. The Norelco NT9110 also doubles as an eyebrow trimmer, which was also an intriguing feature to me. The cost of this trimmer on Amazon is very low so I decided to give it a try.



I received my order within a couple of days and eagerly tore into the packaging to retrieve my new trimmer. Of course in was incased in one of those clamshell cases, which took me no less than 5 minutes to cut and tear open. I HATE those clamshell cases and wish manufacturers would develop a new way of packaging their products! Anyway, I installed the included AA battery and switched the trimmer on. It came to life with a soft hum and I began the task of mowing the hair in my ears and nose. The blade speed remained consistent and there was no pulling discomfort at all. Cleaning the blade under running water is an effortless task. I then placed one of the eyebrow combs on the blade-head and trimmed my eyebrows, which provided satisfactory results.



I have been using this Norelco trimmer now for a couple of weeks and couldn't be happier with my purchase. The NT9110 gives a close cut, provides adequate power and consistent blade speed, and causes no discomfort whatsoever. I also find that the angled tube shaped cutter head is easy to maneuver and doesn't cause as much of a tickling sensation in the nose as the typical rotary trimmers do. This is by far the best nose and ear hair trimmer that I have used and I hope it continues to provide great service for many months or years to come. I am concerned because several other reviewers have stated that their Norelco NT9110 died after only a few weeks of use. I feel that it is extremely important that the owner cleans the device after each use, as the tube shaped cutter is small, and trapped hairs in the cutter assembly could easily cause the blade system to jam. I also recommend placing a drop of blade oil (not included with this trimmer) on the cutter assembly every now and then, to keep it properly lubricated. I think that any moving parts, when rinsed in water, should be lubricated with a light oil to keep the parts moving freely. However, Norelco does not require this or even suggest it in the owner's manual. It is just my personal suggestion. So far I am extremely pleased with the Philips Norelco NT9110 Precision Nose and Ear Trimmer and would highly recommend it to all men looking for a powerful, battery operated trimmer. Click here for more information I was in need of a new trimmer, and had in the past been underwhelmed by battery-powered models. I saw this trimmer and decided I'd give it a shot, and I have to say I'm impressed. It trimmed like one would expect it to, and it doesn't have issues with losing power and not cutting well. It may not be flashy or have a lot of bells and whistles, but if you are looking for a trimmer that does a good, dependable job, this one fits the bill.

I have had several nose trimmers over the years and it is nice to finally purchase one at a low cost that works great. I bought this becuase I already own their back shaver and am very pleased with it.



The motor is very strong on the trimmer and it has a nice feel and look. I recommend it and also like the wet dry feature so you can easily clean it after each use.

I had a Panasonic trimmer which was cheaply constructed. It was painful to use this since it pulled the hair everytime. So I stopped using it for few months and after that, it stopped working. Junk! I looked at this Mangroomer for several months on and off, but did not bother to buy it. But finally I purchased this item with other item so I can get free shipping. This item is realy good. As other reviewer mentioned, you might have to use it more often but at least it does not pull hair. I am very satisfied with this item.

I have two Panasonics that have both been worthless, and just tried the new one with the vacuum and it is also lousy. I also have a one handed manual which does not work very well. But, this is the one! It trims the hair short and when the others stop finding hairs this one keep cutting. It is comfortable and does not pull. I finally found a hair trimmer that really works well for me and I highly recommend it.



Update: I have used it for a while now and find it to be the hair trimmers of hair trimmers. Excellent unit works how they all should work. Forget Panasonic as they do not have it figured out yet.

I have ear hair like Yoda, and so this was the ultimate challenge for an electric trimmer. I found that the Mangroomer rocks, especially for $15, it's a bargain and is well constructed from thick plastic.

You can take it apart and clean it in water. It runs off a single AA battery, and is no more noisy than a regular electric shaver. And it does shave close, not quite as close as a blade, but very acceptable, even for nose hair. Use it about every 5-7 days.

It does not pull the hairs, and the tip gets a bit hot while it runs...

Since I would not buy a panasonic anything, this would be my number 1 choice. I do wish that there was a rechargeable version, but I'm very happy with it and would recommend it to you- buy it for sure.

After going through years and years of painful Panasonic nose grooming hair pulls and weak motors, I bought this and it's the best I've used so far. Why? The motor on this is strong and fast, it doesn't pull at all, right on ManGroomer!

I bought this about a year ago after forgetting to bring along my Panasonic trimmer. After reading a few reviews here, I decided to give this one a try. I'm glad I did. The trimmer has a stronger motor, and spins faster that the other. So much so that you can use it for such things as eyebrows. Also, the battery seems to last longer. Given the choice again, I'd choose the Mangroomer every time.

Unlike other trimmers, this one does not cut to close to the skin or actually pull the hair so it doesn't hurt esp around the ears and nose. However since the blades do not cut too close to the skin, you will need to use it on a daily basis vs. other trimmers that cut close (but may hurt) can last few days before trimming again. Another drawback is that it's pretty loud when trimming in the ear. Click here for more information The family convinced me it was time to trim my nose hairs, so I purchased this Panasonic personal grooming device. It is compact, runs on a single AA battery, comes apart for cleaning, uses stainless steel blades, and seems safe to use.Unfortunately, it does not cut nose hairs. It vibrates, tickles, and twirls them around, but too often fails to actually trim them off. In addition, the non-replaceable blade is designed to wear out after about two years of use.There must be better products on the market.Note: My experience is with the ER115KC version of this product, which is a washable variation of the ER112BC product.

The negative reviews are correct. I too had problems with the switch not working and the blades spinning inconsistently. The plastic nozzle that houses the blades is held on with tiny plastic hooks, which eventually broke making my trimmer useless.

I purchased this thing over a year ago from Amazon. You people LIED to me! I'm shopping for a replacement! Seriously though, it has some problems: 1. The switch doesn't make very good contact, so you end up switching it on and off a few times to get it to start. 2. It's underpowered, so it starts up kind of slow, and you wonder if it is up to the task. One AA battery isn't enough. 3. The cutters seem cheap and don't trim very closely. 4. Overall sound and feel is cheesy. This is NOT a precision instrument.

Don't let the name Panasonic fool you. This is a cheap toy. Mine got slower and slower, fresh batteries made little difference. It didn't even last a year. Spend a little more and get a better one.E.L.

I use this about 1x / month. It cuts the nose and ear hair.



Being an engineer and having one for over 5 years I know that

one of the problems has to do with the contacts becoming dirty/

corroded. The solution is to clean the contacts thoroghly.

I mean very very thoroughly.



And use a new AA battery. I have even had fine use with a rechargable battery. But I have experienced troubles that were

traced back to corroded battery contacts. I think the reason

for this is that when the metal gets wet it will eventually

corrode.



Also leaking batteries from putting the unit away for a long time

with an low battery will cause damage to any circuitry when a

battery leaks a bit of alkaline material.



Consider complaining to the battery company for this kind of problem.



Overall this unit is exactly worth the price you pay for it.

It does cut my hair which is coarse but I'm Arabic. Maybe a

Black person should avoid this. Or maybe a Blonde person should avoid it. I have not tested it on my friends.



It does tickle the nose. That kind of drives me nuts. But there

is not much to do but tolerate it. It does give a close shave 'up there' if you move it around and around.

After searching in the price range of under $30 dollars for a nose hair trimmer I realized that they were all going to be battery powered. I decided to go with this little "bad boy." Let me just start by saying that if you are looking to buy this product, you better have three inch nose hairs because this little device is unable to trim my nose hairs. Basically you have two small blades attached to two plastic hooks. The plastic hooks are spun by a plastic notch (hint: all plastic usually means garbage.) Since it is only powered by one battery it lacks power. Just to see if this thing really could cut hair I tried to trim a piece of hair on my head and just as I expected it whipped the piece of hair around in a circular motion failing to cut it. Bottom line, this is a very poorly made product (Made in China) with a Panasonic logo that should NOT be on this product. I have never purchased anything by Panasonic that was made this poorly.

I've purchased 2 of these over the years. It worked to a point but not very efficiently. You can do better and faster with a pair of scissors, if you know what I mean. They are also very fragile, both of mine shattered into pieces from dropping onto the bathroom floor by accident.

You should think about using eye-watering tweezers rather than buy this product. I gave up using it after the first few attempts because, amazingly, it doesn't cut hair! You spend 5 minutes trying to align each hair so that it will enter the nozzle at the right angle to cut. Even then, the blades tend to push the hairs out of the way rather than cut them. It even managed to scratch the inside of my nose because I was pushing too hard to make it work. A bit of a design flaw for a hair trimmer!

I've tried a lot of different nose/ear trimmer even the lighted Panasonic ER421KC trimmer. That one rips your hair out and runs out of batteries quickly. I did like the trimmers that they show on TV that have a little trimmer on one side but those get disgusting after using them for a while even if you wash them off and they bog down easily. I got fed up and bought this and I was VERY pleased. It is fast and powerful. They use to make a water proof version but I cant find it. Click here for more information I've never dared use one of these but finally got tired of stray hairs peeking out. I put it to use last night and it works great. What more needs to be said about a nose hair trimmer??



A little more. First, the light actually is useful...just not when you've got it stuck in your nose cutting hair. Its use is when you periodically need to examine inside to see how you're doing. So spend the big bucks for the lighted model, otherwise you'll have to keep a flashlight around.



Second, when you first get it, it has a light oil film on the cutter. Good for the machinery but not so much for your nose. So I recommend you take an alcohol swab, take the cutter apart like they say and clean everything before the first use.

HAd this about 4 weeks and no problems so far. I haven't dropped it/run over it with a car/fished it out of the toilet, so I can't vouch for its durability. The light is completely useless, unless you need an emergency trim during a blackout. The cheaper Panasonic is probably just as good.



Final word to potential purchasers - nose hair stubble is a completely new experience.

I read the reviews. I expected the pain. Now, I have mastered this modern marvel.



Pros:

- No more commutes with people staring at me while I yank and pinch into my nose.

- If you use it as the delicate work of art it is, it doesn't hurt as much as the yanking and pinch (see my tips below).

- The light IS useful - it allows you to see into the nether regions of your nostrils to catch those that might otherwise show their hairs tomorrow.

- Water proof for your running under the faucet for cleaning.

- Small, lightweight, and neat design (like a mini-light saber to slash through the dark side of your nose)



Cons:

- Not a whole lot of power, but the question begs as to how much power you'd like to stick up your nostrils anyways.

- Though the water proof capabilities allow you to run this bugger under the faucet, your normal faucet doesn't do much to clean it.



Tips:

* Usage:

I've found that this trimmer works best when you cut as if your trimming bushes, not as if you were cutting grass. What I mean is that it would be best if you refrain from just cramming it up your nose. Granted, if you're purchasing this device, you're probably used to just yanking hairs anyways (hence, you're also used to the associated pain). Trust me, if you take it a little at a time, the pain is greatly diminished and the effectiveness of the trimmer is enhanced. Also, use the lamp attached - I cannot stress this enough.



*Cleanup:

After you run it under the faucet, hold tightly, bring close to your body, and then extend your arm quickly towards the sing. You may thus sling debris that may be caught in the water that may be stuck in your device. This works for me and it makes the trimmer more efficient in its cutting.



All in all, I am completely satisfied with this purchase. Additionally, my wife is completely happy that I am no longer leaving long nose hairs on her floorboard during our commute.

I bought one of those $19.95 Chinese nose and ear trimmers that were advertised on TV for a long time, the one guaranteed not to cut or hurt. It took weeks to arrive and last about 6 months. Then I bought one of these.



This model is far more substantial with a good engine and nice cutting surface. Panasonic won't guarantee you won't have an unpleasant cut or two (especially in the nose) but it works well and is not bad in the pain department. Does a very nice job on ears, too.



I haven't used this thing "wet" yet and really can't imagine doing so. So far this has done the job and has been everything it was advertised to be.

This nose trimmer has a nice shape, heft and a cool rubberized surface. It does its job well. Unfortunately, the light is just about useless. First of all, it's not LED, but rather a dim micro flashlight bulb. Secondly, it projects a beam about the size of a freckle. Third, and most annoying, it doesn't shine where you expect it (at the tip of the cutting edge). No, its aimed an inch or two below that. Why? I have no idea. But a dim, narrow beam that shines on your cheek isn't what I had in mind when I purchased it. So, a solid trimmer that gets the job done -- but the light is purely a marketing add on.

wow, the detail over such a little thing. Look, it works great. does the job... no complaints and a hell of a lot better than the crappy ones i got drug stores branded with the name 'conair'. those really stunk. The quality difference is night and day.



And, the light: you aren't supposed to use the light WHILE you are using it. It's for inspection before and after.

Looks well made. Looks well designed. But when you use it, it will pull often, and when it does, it hurts. I tried two of these (this and a cheaper Panasonic), both were the same. Click here for more information I have used the older Panasonic ER411 nose trimmer for a long time and really liked it. It gives a very close shave. So I decided to get a new one, and bought this ER415SC. I was horrified to find out that they changed the design for the worse, since it no longer gives a close shave! They must have changed the clearance of the blades. What a waste of money. I went back to the older ER411. Let Panasonic know that they should go back to the older design which worked.

I bought a Panasonic ER415SC Nose and Ear Trimmer about three years ago, and it worked well. So when it gave up, I bought a new one. This new one does not work near as well as the old one did. I have to go over and over and over the same areas in order to get it to work.

I have had three of these units at this point. The units work fine but there is one huge design flaw. When you open it up the unit to emtpy the clippings the nylon blade assembly falls out and in my case it goes down the drain. If the price was not so low I would be so mad I would not repurchase this item,

I haven't had good luck with nose/ear trimmers -- tried many brands including Norelco and Remington. I found Panasonic model, ER416, Wet/Dry, to be the best though. Seems to have good power and definitely trims hair. It stopped working after I dropped it, but worked agsin once I made sure all the components were back in place and lined up with the notches on the head of the unit.

I've purchased several of these. They work great for about 1 year of use perhaps once every 3 weeks for about 5 minutes. But after that they all start to break down after about 1 year....they won't run fast or consistently even with new batteries.



Panasonic should work on making these last longer.....people might be better off paying more for the one from sharper image...

Never bought a nose hair trimmer before, I am now 38 and do not want to look like my old shop teacher from high school. Researched many many models before I bought and got this model. Also purchsase the Panasonic ER112BC at the same time. The ER112BC was like [..]so I figured that if the spify one breaks as I have read these units never hold up too long, I would have a backup. The Er415SC is nice and you can do your ears and nose but it seems to lack juice. If you want to do detail work it is great but takes awhile to get the job done. I tried the cheapie one and it did the job with gusto. No nicks or cuts, but I now even breath better after using it. It has helped my snoring. No more twezzers or scissors. If you are just out for nose hair and use a beard trimmer like me for all other grooming get a few of the ER112BC and you wont be dissapointed. To the guys who say these things do not cut or twist hair mine works just fine. Your unit must be old- dull or you have a jungle in there.

I bought this based on experience with an older Panasonic model and despite bad reviews. In fact, the reviews of issues with the cutting ability were correct and it was a poor performer. However, I noticed that the cap from the old model fit as did the blade mechanism... so I took this device and replaced the cutting mechanism and cap with that from the older model and now it works like a charm.
