Click here for more information I was very unsure about which of these trimmers to buy, but I'm glad I went with this one. It's very easy to use and it's nice to not have to worry about attachments to change out and keep up with. All you have to do is simply twist the dial and you can cut your hair to have the 5 o'clock shadow, turn the dial and trim your goatee/side burns, or change it to one of the higher settings and actually cut your hair.. It's truly an all in one device. This replace my Mach 3 Fusion razor and my hair clippers. All for this amazing price. I've had it for a little over 2 weeks now and i use it every few days, it's still on it's first charge. The good thing about it is that you can simply plug the adapter into the wall and use it while it's charging if you need to.



The only issue i have against it would be the fact that it does kind of throw hair, but that's just because it cuts so fast. The only time it has done this bad was the first time i used it and my facial hair was a little thick, I was waiting to see how well it would perform. But if you keep everything cut every 2 or 3 days it's not that bad at throwing hair..

I was first anxious if this will deliver on its promise of Stubble length uniform cutting. But it does a very good job. The lowest setting gives me a very close stubble. And by removing the comb it works as a liner for mustache and sideburns, but not very good as the dedicated ones we get on other norelco product (I used to use a norelco that has all the interchangeable heads). Good battery capacity too. But it is to be noted that it is a very specific type of beard trimmer and will not satisfy all needs. But anyone considering maintaining a stubble should consider getting this as a beard trimmer in addition to whatever hair groomer already in use.

If you are like me and want to stop paying $15 or $20 per haircut, are okay with wearing a simple one-length crewcut, and also have a short beard of somewhere around the same shortish length, then this tool can make you pretty happy.



I do not like haircutters that have many loose parts, and this one is just one simple unit with the length adjustment intergrated in with a slick length-dialing collar, so that's a big plus with me. The blades, how long they stay sharp, and the battery, how long it holds up, will probably be what determines the long-term satisfaction this unit provides, and I have only had it for a month or two so I cannot say on these. The blades are supposed to be self-sharpening and the battery is currently (sorry, loose pun attack) very peppy and lasts plenty long enough for more than one haircut now.



In order to get the really uniform length that makes for a sharp appearance it does take lots of repetitive passes over the same hair spot, but the batteries are well up to this challenge. Are you? If you are looking for a one or two pass sort of thing, then you need to look at some much more pricey pro equipment, I imagine, (and maybe hiring a barber to use it, too). This thing gets me free from the barber, beard and all, as long as I am willing to run the thing all over my hair about a dozen swipes at minimum over all hair surfaces, including the beard.



Wearing a one-length crew cut and a one-length full beard is the way I have found that best reduces the fuss and cost factors of grooming from the neck up. I make only one exception to this uniformity, and that is that because my mustache is thicker than the rest of my beard I cut only it one click closer than the rest of my beard. After I do this it looks more uniform than if I left it all the same length! Now all I have to do on a daily basis is use a disposable razor to maintain a clear bottom line and top edge-line on my full beard, and that's it for me.



I tried that vacuum trimmer a few years ago and found it to be a not-so-hot gimmick then so I didn't go back there when I bought this new one. I do not think I can find anything that works better for me than this one, at this price point. The length adjustor is trustworthy in design, doesn't threaten to accidentally slip to another setting.



At the end of my beard trim I usually have to take some small pointy scissors and trim a few hairs a little shorter directly under my nose. Tha's the only place where the built-in adjusting guard stops me from using it to cut every hair.



And when I am done giving myself a haircut I take the guard off, call in my wife, and she uses the unit without the guard to cut a clean hairline at the nape of my neck in back where I can't see to do it well enough for myself because I am not coordinated enough to do that reverse-my-hand-motions-because-I-am-looking-in-a mirror thing.



Cleaning the unit: if you are cutting dry hair, the clumps of cut hair usually just fall off into to sink area. Once in a while and when I am all finished with it I take the adjustable guard off and blow the loose hair off with a puff of air from my mouth. The guard slips off and goes back on with zero effort and no accidental length-setting changes.



This thing is nicely thought out and has very good "human-use engineering". I am really satisfied so far. Of course, one day one even better will be built, but this seems to me to be the best one for now.

Click here for more information I cannot comment on the life of these clippers as I have just purchased my set not a week ago.



I can, however, comment on the quality of the cut. I have extremely sensitive skin and have had to endure the shadow look on my face for a few years as I have left the razor behind and moved to beard and mustache trimmers, but none of them have been able to get as close to a razor as the Andis T-Outliner has. I use it on my head and face and people have begun to doubt my sensitive skin excuse as the quality of the cut looks to be of razor quality. I also dont have to worry about the bumps that would normally appear when a cut is this close.



I have already purchased another set of these as they were on sale as well as some machine oil. NEVER FORGET TO OIL YOUR CLIPPERS. The fate of my beard and mustache trimmers was grim because I didnt oil them as regularly as I should have. I am glad for it now, but imagine how much longer than 4yrs they would have lasted if I had taken proper care of them.

I have owned these clippers for nearly a year. They cut just as precisely now as they did when I bought them new. The wide blade is very nice and requires less strokes. I use these clippers about once a week to clean up my fade/blowout. They cut really thin, as thin as the barbers, only they will not cut razor thin. I have yet to see anything that does cut razor thin besides a razor. These clippers are the closest you can get to a barber chair for your home. I am so sold on the quality of this brand/line that I just purchased the "Improved Master Clippers" to accompany my "T-Outliner". It set me back a hundred bucks but if it is at all like the T-outliner than I will be extremely happy. You get what you pay for and oh yes, don't forget to keep them oiled!

I have gone through 2 Wahl groomsmen and one Norelco trimmer. The batteries go bad and it costs almost as much to have them replaced as to buy a new trimmer. This is the same as my barber uses all day, every day, and he replaces it every few years. This one should last me almost forever using it once a day at most. The closeness of the cut is far superior to the others I have had. I just leave it plugged in and hang it on a hook on the side of my bathroom cabinet. This makes it more convenient than a cordless, and there is no expensive battery to go bad. In general, professional tools do the best job, and this one is no exception.

This is a great Trimmer for those who cannot use razors. These trimmers will not break your face out with bumps. I would sugest that if this is your first trimmer to make sure it is set properly, I had my regular barber set the blades for a closer cut.

These trimmers are used for lining up your hair, these are not for fading or cutting the hair on top of your head. The black guards advertised above wont fit on these because they're edgers. Guards are used for those other trimmers, the ones that are used for cutting most of your hair. My dad has owned these for awhile now; since im going to college in a few weeks, i decided to go ahead and order my own. These do get hot as due most clippers, thats not a problem though. Blades will have to be changed every once in a while, i never noticed them dulling out but my dad did. If you're looking for some nice edgers to line up your edge up these are GREAT.If you're trying to cut your own hair, you'll need these plus another pair of trimmers. Get the trimmers that come with guards, those are what you'll need.



So if you're looking to cut your own hair. GET THESE AND THE OTHER KIND OF TRIMMERS.(they're only 2 kinds, several different brands)

I bought this trimmer to be a multipurpose cutter for beards and haircuts. When I received it, I was surprised to find that it didn't come with any attachements. As such, I bought ASIN B000172RAI, thinking that the attachments would work with this trimmer; they don't.



I wish that the product page a bit more explanation about what the trimmer includes.

No cons, several pros:



After two months of use, I would buy it again if I lost this one. Ergonomic feeling and easy to handle. Great moustache and sideburn edger. I even use it for dry shaving if I do not want a skin-close shave. Long electrical cord is an advantage if wall socket is not close by. Easy to clean and maintain. I bought this brand and model because it is the same one that my professional, high-priced hair stylist uses to cut scalp hair. Click here for more information I have been using a Wahl beard trimmer for nearly 6 years. It finally started to show its age and I went looking for a new one. I tried Remington brand, and they just did not work for me. I have very thick, stubborn hair and the Remmington's blades did not get close enough to my skin to get the hairs I wanted. So I went back to what I knew worked, and re-ordered a new Wahl Beard Trimmer. This one is very similar to my old one, except a few new things. There are more blade guards than before, and the clipper setting now has 6 stages instead of 5. Otherwise, the trimmer is the same.



And that is a good thing. Immediately, the new Wahl made a difference and I am very happy with the results. The reason why Wahl is so much better than anything else (including the Remington) is that the blades that move back and forth as so much closer the to the guard teeth that you can see the difference. Go to a store and look...you can see the difference between this trimmer and other brands. The Wahl will always cut closer and better. There is no other brand I would recommend - Wahl trimmers are simply the highest quality you can find in this price range that give the closest trim on your face.

Pros:



Price.

Charges quickly, and stays charged afterward for some time.

Gives a great trim, nice and neat and no pulling. Has all the attachments you'll ever need.

Easy to maintain and clean up.



Cons:



Attachment system could be a little better, a little tough to get on and off without some practice. They do work great and are easy to use once on, however.



Bottom line:



Great trimmer for a great price, you can't go wrong here. Can use it with the cord or without and works great either way, this thing will last you forever. I'm really happy I picked this one up out of the crowd of trimmers I looked at.

For the cheap cost of this trimmer, you can't go wrong! I love it, the battery lasts long, it comes with tons of clips and the one adjustable 5 setting clip and it's a very nice package for it's price. Very comfy and a nice grip, I look forward to trimming now that I have this wonderful trimmer in my life. I really don't think you can go wrong with this purchase!



P.S. I buy a lot of stuff at amazon.com and I NEVER review it, I suppose it's cause I think it's "too out of the way" to do, but I love this product so much that it was time to change that!

The Wahl Groomsman is a solidly built trimmer, but the plastic attachments are not. I used this trimmer for my beard 3 times before the plastic guide broke and fell off. I could not correct the angle in time and now have no beard! (I guess I won't be needing the trimmer after all!)



Buyer beware! This is NOT the Wahl product you remember!

This is a very good electric razor/trimmer. I was hoping to use it to maintain a stubble look. Unfortunately, the stubble guide keeps my stubble a bit too long for my taste. And just using the razor keeps the stubble a bit too short. If you're looking for a razor that will maintain a "2-day look," this is not it.

It is good only for complete shaving not for trimming.The attachments are so delicate and loose that they may drop in the middle of your trimming process ending you with bald patches.Earlier I had the panasonic trimmer which was quite good with trimming adjustment fixed by sliding above the blade,so no chance of dropping of.

This trimmer works as advertised: powerful, easily adjustable, lasts FOREVER on a single charge and very easy to use. I have had it for just over a month and use it about twice a week.

I couldn't have asked for more from this kind of product.

No complaints about the trimmer itself -- it is effective and easy to use. But the attachments are flimsy and you have to get the knack for shoving them on and taking them off. No instructions are provided for this. As a result I broke one attachment and had to order a new one from Wahl, which cost$5.99 plus and unconscionable $9.99 for shipping! Still the clipper is better than the last one I had.

I bought this not too long ago to replace an old norelco trimmer. This wahl one looked good, but it had too many problems. First, I could not get the attachments on or off. It shouldn't be that complicated. More importantly, this trimmer hurts. It would catch the hair and not cut it evenly. Very disappointed and a waste of money. Back to the Norelco.

First the good things-

1) sharp blades and the cutting edge is close to the skin surface.

2) ability to operate with the cord connected.



The Bad -

The construction (and yes, have no doubts, it is Made in China) is so bad. Though the trimmer feels solid, if you look at the edges, you will see the ugly finish of the product. The plastic with which the guides have been made is not that flimsy(though i dont mean it is sturdy); but the way they have designed the insertion mechanisms and the length selector mechanism is so mindless that the plastic guide will break eventually, like mine did. It is so hard to fix the guide on to the trimmer; and once you fix it, if you want to take it out, you have to use so much force that you will fear if it would break.

The stubble guide also has the same story. I actually injured myself trying to get the thing from the trimmer. It is so damn hard to take it out once you put it in.



I wonder why would they make it this way. Once you break the guide or the beard regulator attachments, the thing is rendered useless. So, why dont they improve the locking mechanisms and improve the quality of the plastic used??? I would strongly advice to try some other brands who give a little more importance to quality and put some thinking into the product!

Ha, the bag is a joke; well, not much complaints here because i dont intend to keep it in a bag.

Then the noise - it IS loud. After using it around your sideburns area, and once you switch it off, you will hear the beauty of silence! But not much complaints here too, because, i think it is standard with trimmers though may not be as noisy as this one.

Click here for more information I have had a beard, and thus have had beard trimmers, for almost 30 years, so I have some pretty strong ideas about what a trimmer should and should not do. IT SHOULD NOT STAB YOU IN THE FACE! But that is exactly what the new QT4070/41 does.



For years I was wonderfully happy with Norelco's previous top-of-the-line model, the T980. I love the vacuum feature, the turbo setting cut my tough beard with gusto, and the length adjustment was generally adequate (though the settings were a bit wide apart, so 3 was too long and 2 was too short).



But the engineers at Norelco have taken a wonderfully designed T980 trimmer and screwed it up royally. The problem is with the guide comb. On the older T980, the guide comb completely covered the cutting head. But on the new Qt4070/41, the guide comb has tines that extend along the top and front of the cutting head, and END IN SHARP POINTS. So the cutting head sits exposed within a cavity between the ends of the two sets of pointy tines. Yeah, sure, that's what I need to drag across my face all bleery-eyed in the morning - pointed sticks! :-(



The new guide comb's design is woefully stupid for two reasons:



1) The length to which your hairs are cut will VARY depending on the angle with which you hold the trimmer against your skin. If you hold the upper face of the guide comb flat against your skin, you get a longer cut than if you allow your skin to span the gap between the two set of tines. And frankly, you KNOW you can't hold the trimmer at the same angle all over your face! BOTTOM LINE: AN UNEVEN TRIM!



2) Even if you are trying hard to keep the flat top of the guide comb flush against your face, you eventually have to turn a corner, like at your jaw line. I have used this Qt4070/41 about a dozen times now, and each time I have managed to jab myself with those stupid tines somewhere - in the jawline, in the chin, in the lip, etc. I know it's just a matter of time before I (a) break a tine, or (b) draw blood. BOTTOM LINE: A PAINFUL TRIM



My advice: QUICK! Buy a T980 before it is discontinued and all bought up! Maybe Norelco will fix the Qt4070/41 by the time you wear out your T980.

I have previously been using a Norelco T870 but the battery stopped holding a charge so I have had to buy a new trimmer. Although there were 3 reviews here that mentioned the guide being faulty I decided to try the trimmer due to the 20+ positive reviews and the lack of a decent alternative.

The trimmer arrived this evening so after charging it for an hour I tried it out.

The guide is adjustable to give a varying length of cut. The lowest setting gives a 2mm cut and the highest 18mm. Unfortunately, the guide is made using flexible prongs which bend a good 3-4mm. This means that if you use a low setting the guide prongs will bend fully to the blade. I found this out by cutting my lip twice in the first minute of use. I also quickly found that due to the flexibility of the guide using a low setting results in a really uneven cut.

I keep my beard pretty short (4-5mm) and there's no way I can use this without the blade cutting me and without making my beard look like it's been hacked at by someone with blunt kid scissors. I think it would be a good product for someone with longer beard hair but for me it is completely unusable.

I lost my Norelco T980 a couple of weeks ago and I was dismayed to discover it was out of production. I purchased the QT4070 this evening and after using it I'm absolutely dismayed at the design of the guard. The gap is wide enough that you WILL maul your upper lip when attempting to trip your mustache! Also the prongs dig into the skin when trimming from the neck toward the cheek. I have a very heavy beard so I have to pass over the same area a couple of times due to the thickness of my hair. It was an extremely unpleasant experience. I've had numerous Norelco Beard Trimmers over the years and I've always been happy with the design however the QT4070 is a production FAIL!

bought this to replace my older turbo vacuum model....what a mistake! The space between the guard and the guide comb doesn't work for me at all...it jabs my skin and allows very very uneven cuts to happen. I tried my best to get adjusted but have just called norelco to exercise the 45 day money back offer.

Definitely be cautious when reading the negative reviews about the trim guide on this trimmer. It is different, but if you slide the guide along your face instead of trying to stuff your chin into the blade slot, you will have a much more comfortable experience.



This trimmer is a little different from the previous model(980 I think), which by the way I loved until the day it found it's way into my toilet...still ran it just was never the same! The QT4070 has a strong motor, a more durable cover for the clippings catcher, and the digital display for battery and height is awesome. Plus the lack of springs and hinges on the guide will make this trimmer survive my poor luggage packing as well! Mustn't forget the travel lock! A great addition to keep the trimmer from draining itself en route to your destination.



I have a pretty tough beard and this little guy made short work of it, neat as a pin!



All in all I think if you can adapt your trimming stroke to the new guide you will be very happy with this trimmer...oh and don't try to drown it! - Vacuum Trimmer - Trimmer - Groomer - Clipper

Click here for more information Decided to look for a new beard and mustache trimmer when my trusty old Norelco Maverick TX-450 finally gave up the ghost and just quit running. If this sounds like I'm slamming the product, I'm not, as I had owned this basic battery-operated trimmer for over sixteen years - far longer than I ever expected it to last when I first got it. I could have probably fixed it (again) if I disassembled and cleaned it out, but decided to see what might be new on the market. This was primarily used as a mustache trimmer, but after using it for a few years with a handheld comb, was able to do a fair job with my beard.



Was amazed to see how many models were now available, and how many companies were making them. After doing some research (and asking my barber), ended up getting the Philips Norelco G370 All-in-1 Grooming System, and must say that so far this seems to have been a good choice. My barber had suggested that I stay with the more basic (and more economical) trimmers, as most from a particular manufacturer have the same heads as their higher-priced models, and it was the cutting head itself that made a trimmer good or bad. He had suggested that I consider some of the Wahl and Panasonic models, but also had a personal preference for the Philips Norelco products, as they seemed to last... which I had also experienced.



This trimmer has a great array of attachments, and each of them is quite useful, performing exactly as expected. It has an excellent beard and moustache comb/guide with nine locking length settings, as does the hair clipper comb. The little mini-shaver attachment is good for cleanup, and acts like a miniature micro-screen electric razor. Was cautious about the nose and ear trimmer, but after reading the instruction sheet, found that it was easy to master.



The online comparison chart between the various Philips Norelco trimmers is wrong here, as this one does come with a nylon travel pouch. This model features:



* Six attachments that can be rinsed, making it easy to clean

* Nine length settings with the key trimming attachments

* Self-sharpening blades, no oil needed

* Charging stand with storage slots

* Travel pouch (the listed specs are wrong)

* Two-year factory warranty



Took the time to read the instruction sheet that came with this trimmer, which was detailed but easy to understand. The instructions had indicated that the trimmer shouldn't be left with the unit shouldn't be left charging full-time, which I found to be a nuisance at first. When setting up the plastic charging and attachment stand, found that if it was rested gently above the charging plug, the green charging light was off, so that eliminated that problem. Charged it for the ten hours suggested before using it, and it has worked fine, and a charge last for weeks. The stand itself looked to be a bit flimsy at first glance, but while handling it when I was setting it up, found that it was sturdier than I had first thought. All of the attachments fit easily in the proper slots.



Must note that this unit came in one of those irritating clamshell packages. This one was more of a nuisance to open than most because it was difficult to see if the contents were going to be damaged when cutting through the plastic with a combination of scissors and a sharp knife.

Since we all have different things that we look for in trimmers like this, thought that I might share some of my findings with others here.



Also considered the Philips Norelco G380 All-in-1 Grooming System, but the only difference between this and the Philips Norelco G370 Trimmer was that the G380 came in a gray color and had a travel pouch... which also came with the black G370 trimmer.



Looked at the Philips Norelco T980 Turbo Vacuum Trimmer which was considered for its hair deflector and vacuum, but the price difference was enough to make me go for the more basic G370 trimmer.



The Wahl 9918-617 Groomsman Beard and Mustache Trimmer seemed to be a good one, and its ability to operate cordless via battery or plugged into charger sounded good, and it had good reviews. This was a very close second choice.



The Wahl 9877-500 "The Goatee" Advanced Dual Blade, Rechargeable/Cordless Beard, Goatee & Mustache Trimmer had some interesting dual blades, but the Philips Norelco G370 had more attachments, and the model that I looked at made me shy away from this one.



Had also considered the stylish Panasonic ER2403K 5 Position Beard/Moustache Trimmer. This one features wet or dry trimming, five length adjustments and an excellent price, but since it uses two AAA batteries, decided to rule it out.



In the end, it was my past experience with the Philips Norelco products that helped make my choice, and I don't regret it. If I can get half the life of the sixteen years of service that I got from my original Maverick TX-450, then I'll be happy. - Trimmer - Beard Trimmer - Clipper - Grooming

It is good only for complete shaving not for trimming.The attachments are so delicate and loose that they may drop in the middle of your trimming process ending you with bald patches.Earlier I had the panasonic trimmer which was quite good with trimming adjustment fixed by sliding above the blade,so no chance of dropping of.

This trimmer works as advertised: powerful, easily adjustable, lasts FOREVER on a single charge and very easy to use. I have had it for just over a month and use it about twice a week.

I couldn't have asked for more from this kind of product.

No complaints about the trimmer itself -- it is effective and easy to use. But the attachments are flimsy and you have to get the knack for shoving them on and taking them off. No instructions are provided for this. As a result I broke one attachment and had to order a new one from Wahl, which cost$5.99 plus and unconscionable $9.99 for shipping! Still the clipper is better than the last one I had.

I bought this not too long ago to replace an old norelco trimmer. This wahl one looked good, but it had too many problems. First, I could not get the attachments on or off. It shouldn't be that complicated. More importantly, this trimmer hurts. It would catch the hair and not cut it evenly. Very disappointed and a waste of money. Back to the Norelco.

First the good things-

1) sharp blades and the cutting edge is close to the skin surface.

2) ability to operate with the cord connected.



The Bad -

The construction (and yes, have no doubts, it is Made in China) is so bad. Though the trimmer feels solid, if you look at the edges, you will see the ugly finish of the product. The plastic with which the guides have been made is not that flimsy(though i dont mean it is sturdy); but the way they have designed the insertion mechanisms and the length selector mechanism is so mindless that the plastic guide will break eventually, like mine did. It is so hard to fix the guide on to the trimmer; and once you fix it, if you want to take it out, you have to use so much force that you will fear if it would break.

The stubble guide also has the same story. I actually injured myself trying to get the thing from the trimmer. It is so damn hard to take it out once you put it in.



I wonder why would they make it this way. Once you break the guide or the beard regulator attachments, the thing is rendered useless. So, why dont they improve the locking mechanisms and improve the quality of the plastic used??? I would strongly advice to try some other brands who give a little more importance to quality and put some thinking into the product!

Ha, the bag is a joke; well, not much complaints here because i dont intend to keep it in a bag.

Then the noise - it IS loud. After using it around your sideburns area, and once you switch it off, you will hear the beauty of silence! But not much complaints here too, because, i think it is standard with trimmers though may not be as noisy as this one.

I like the trimmer heads though I don't use them much. Mostly I use this for my bakini line and for making it into fun shapes. As long as you trim on the longest setting first, then the middle setting, then the shortest, it won't get clogged and will do its job.

Also, I like how discreet it is. My roommates have yet to spot that I have a trimmer out in the open!

(This is a trimmer, this will not get you smooth. There will still be a bit of stubble. If you want to get smooth, you will need a razor/shaver.)

I was trying to install the battery and couldn't get the on/off switch to work. Maybe it was just me, maybe it was a lemon, but I ended up returning it. I had good experience with Remington products in the past but I no longer plan on purchasing any due to this experience.

The Remington hair trimmer is a great product! Compared to other similar products such as the Finishing Touch women's trimmer, this one is much more thorough. For one, the blade gives off a much stronger power when turned on than other products. Thus, you get a closer, faster trim. Be careful however, as women with sensitive skin may find this product harsh because of the powerful shave. I found I get the best results when I don't press the trimmer too firmly on the skin of my face. Also, the small detail trimmer is very useful for the ends of eyebrows, etc.

Got this in Aug 2010, worked the first time. Hasn't started once since then, even with a new battery and slight whack on the side. Nothing. Piece of junk. WalMart has 4-5 similar ones for the same or less.

Had to return and the second one worked. The smaller second blade is interesting, not sure it does much. Found similar shavers locally for 3-4$ cheaper. Return process went smoothly.



Well this is an update....it died too, don't buy this item, it's junk.

The 1st time I used this trimmer, I was thrilled: sharp blade, small, lightweight, and easy to handle. It did the job nicely at a bargain sale price.



Well, so much for cost cutting. The 2nd time, it fell apart into pieces that did not fit back together. There's really nothing to the device other than very cheesy plastic, albeit a great blade.



Next time, I'll spend the extra $$$ and get one that's sturdy and substantial - a lesson leaned, once again: "You get what you pay for."

I have owned this trimmer for a few months now. Half the time when I turn it on, it doesn't come on. Whacking it gently on the edge of my sink gets it going, but also sometimes causes the trimming head to come apart. The head is easily put back together. Usually after going through this, it gets running and continues to run until I turn it back off.



When it is running, it works very well. It trims off facial fuzz for smoother looking skin, and the small blade works for more precision areas. I really like what this gizmo does, I just wish I could find one that is sturdier and more reliable. Click here for more information Some reviewers harshly criticize this product and if I'd read their reviews before buying the Wahl 817 I probably wouldn't have purchased it. But my experience with the Wahl 817 beard and moustache trimmer over the past eight months - from initial trimming of a new beard to preparing to shave it off for the summer - has been quite positive.



The basic trimming functions work well. Just the basic adjustable beard thinning head and the straight trimming edge without any plastic head attached has met all my needs. A plus is that the batteries hold their charge a long time which allows the trimmer to be taken on trips without the hassle of carrying - and potentially losing - the recharging device.



Some people complain the plastic attachments are difficult to put on and remove and break easily. Take it easy and be patient. They will loosen up a bit and none of mine have broken in almost a year. There probably are too many attachments. But so what? Just use the ones you need.



The only shortcoming with this trimmer in my experience so far is that the instructions don't provide examples or directions for using the various attachments and their intended use is unclear to me. But, again, most guys probably will just use the basic head to thin beard growth and the cutting edge to keep their moustache edge neat.



Recommended to anyone who wants an inexpensive, basic, reliable beard trimmer that holds a battery charge well.

This trimmer is nice and gives a nice cut. I mostly use the pre-installed adjustable guard, so I cannot say how well the other attachments work. For the way I use this trimmer, it works great.



The battery life is great also. I use the trimmer on my beard 1-2 times per week. I have had the unit for three months and have only recharged it once so far. My old Conair unit required a recharge every week or two.



The safety button on the on/off switch is a nice feature if this ends up in the hands of a little one.



The plastic stand is a little cheap. I keep my trimmer in the cabinet, but personally it is not something I would want to look at every day. This does not take away from the performance of the trimmer, so I cannot lower my rate because of this.



Other units have a nicer base. My old unit required the base for recharging which was extra item to bring when traveling for long periods of time. With the undependable charge length, I did bring it with a few times. This unit only has a plug which is not tied to the base.

I have had either a beard or goatee for the last 28 years, and for most of this time I owned a Wahl trimmer. My first Wahl lasted 10 years, my second Wahl lasted for 8 years. I took a 3 year break using a Norelco (which was a Christmas gift), however, I was never satisfied with the cut at longer settings. I ultimately went back to various Wahl trimmers, yet they all gave out (battery, motor, etc) in less than 2 years.



Deciding to give Wahl one last chance. I purchased the "All-in-One Trimmer Kit," given that it had a 5-year warranty. The battery quit recharging after the 3rd month, and Wahl's position was since I failed to keep my receipt, there was no warranty coverage. Please note that my failure to keep the receipt was definitely my fault. However, I can say, through personal experience, that Wahl's quality and performance has SIGNIFICANTLY declined over the years (based on my last four purchases), and this was the last Wahl trimmer that I will ever own. If you cannot purchase any other trimmer but a Wahl, my advice is that you hold fast to your receipt...because I fear you will need it sooner rather than later. If any other option is available to you, I would strongly urge you to consider it, rather than purchasing a Wahl.

I have to say i am disappointed, Having used a trimmer from wahl with same model number 9916, which i felt gave me a good trim, i immediately sought out to buy same model off amazon.



the one i received was much cheaper in quality. The plastic guide IS cheap junk which felt like it would break eventually, which it did within 3 weeks from being dropped. The guide shattered. There is no replacement for the 5-position guide for the 9916 I can find.



Now i am torn between buying another of these and treating it like a precious heirloom, or finding a razor that can survive real world use.



On the plus side, the battery life on this razor is incredible.

Excennent Trimmer, i use it for mustache & hair trimming, thid is my second one, i tried others, and this one has the best Blade, the Batteries went bad in the first one, i kept the Blade for a back up.

I use this trimmer without the guides to bring my beard down to use a razor. I've tried other brands only to return them becuase they simply wont get as close. The precision is that good. Keep your receipt, however, my blades dulled in under a year using it about every two weeks. I do however replace the guide to protect the blades when not in use. the removal of the guides are difficult but became simpler with more use. I've read complaints of them being too cheap, but if they were sturdier (thicker) they would not work as well. It just takes a little patience for the first few uses.



I was interested in this trimmer because it has blades you can replace instead of purchasing a new trimmer when it becomes dull. When it came time to replace them however the cost averaged around $18 (with S/H) for new blades. Target (as of Aug 20, 2006) has this exact razor (complete set) for $17.99 in the store. Click here for more information This is the best beard trimmer I have owned in the 10+ years I've been using one. I previously purchased the QT4070 and hated it! But used the money back offer from Norelco and got it right away no questions asked.... I then both this one, the QT4050.....and it is absolutely perfect. Several features make it superior to others I have owned.... One, the dial for adjusting the lengths is recessed so that it can't be moved by accident....Two, it accepts international voltage making it perfect for travel....and three, it cuts more evenly than any I have ever owned. When fully charged it provides more trims that my prior Norelcos and can be used with the cord if you need to... Overall I am extremely happy with it and would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting a beard trimmer



Oh, one last item.... I had no trouble emptying the vacumm container nor did I think the few hairs that it didn't catch were an issue.... so again, excellent

I purchased this to replace a 6 year old Panasonic in which the batteries would no longer hold a charge. It would seem to me that Panasonic has discontunued their line of Trimmers...and perhaps even sold this design to Norelco. I like this design because it is ONE-PIECE and does a very good job. I don't want a drawer full of attachments like some of the other brands.



I was very happy with the Panasonic...but I am happier with the Norelco for 3 things. 1) the Lithium Ion Batteries stay up much better. The older Panny had NiCads which lose a large percent of their charge, even when not in use. 2) The Norelco has higher RPM's and just works quicker. 3) The Norelco vacuums much better...not perfect, but better....probably due to the higher RPM's.

Minor quibble others have mentioned: The Panasonic had a removable clippings drawer you slide out and can take to waste basket and tap out the clippings. The Norelco is more of a side-door that does not come off...so it is a bit harder to empty.

I bought this to keep my facial hair at a constant 5 'oclock shadow kinda look. It works really well.





Another review on here complains that the guard is pointed and you'll end up stabbing yourself. I'm not the lease bit careful when I shave and I haven't had a single problem with it. Never been stabbed. This thing works like a charm and I highly recommended it. If I were to lose it I'd definitely get another one just like it.

I was a bit concerned seeing so many reviews harping on this not being as good as the previous model. I was using an older one, a few models prior to this one, and so looked around trying to find the previous model, but had no luck. So took the gamble on this one.



So far, outstanding. I can see why people would complain about the little hinged door for emptying the trimmings, it does make this a little messier. But the reason I replaced my old one (and the one prior to that) was that the little cup type receptacle they used to use always broke on me after time, becoming separated, front and back, so that trying to pull it out just pulled off the front cover, letting things fall out if you weren't careful. So while this isn't as neat as the previous solution, it's definitely a better engineering design, less prone to the plastic glue coming undone.



On both my previous models, I ALWAYS had whiskers flying onto the counter and sink when doing my chin. Always. This one, nary a hair. Everything went where it was supposed to be, into the vac stream and into the catch bin. Much neater than the other.



I preferred the outer ring for adjusting the depth of the trimmer to this smaller internal rotating adjustment, but it still works fine.



Not any louder than the previous model despite having a better vacuum system.



Looking forward to using this for much longer than the other ones, since it no longer has the same design flaw for where it stores the clippings.

The vacuum works well, if not perfectly and the trimmer is easily adjustable and trims well. The vacuum systems misses enough hair that it's still beneficial to trim over the sink, but it contains things enough that it can all be easily washed after. Without it, the hairs end up all over the place. The battery life is fantastic, the build is solid, and the adjustment settings are nicely gradated.

This trimmer does the job well. It is comfortable, has adjustable lengths, and creates a great stubble look. I have had it around a month, and I haven't had to charge it yet, using it every 2 days. I would definitely recommend this trimmer. It is compact, runs on a single AA battery, comes apart for cleaning, uses stainless steel blades, and seems safe to use.Unfortunately, it does not cut nose hairs. It vibrates, tickles, and twirls them around, but too often fails to actually trim them off. In addition, the non-replaceable blade is designed to wear out after about two years of use.There must be better products on the market.Note: My experience is with the ER115KC version of this product, which is a washable variation of the ER112BC product.

The negative reviews are correct. I too had problems with the switch not working and the blades spinning inconsistently. The plastic nozzle that houses the blades is held on with tiny plastic hooks, which eventually broke making my trimmer useless.

I purchased this thing over a year ago from Amazon. You people LIED to me! I'm shopping for a replacement! Seriously though, it has some problems: 1. The switch doesn't make very good contact, so you end up switching it on and off a few times to get it to start. 2. It's underpowered, so it starts up kind of slow, and you wonder if it is up to the task. One AA battery isn't enough. 3. The cutters seem cheap and don't trim very closely. 4. Overall sound and feel is cheesy. This is NOT a precision instrument.

Don't let the name Panasonic fool you. This is a cheap toy. Mine got slower and slower, fresh batteries made little difference. It didn't even last a year. Spend a little more and get a better one.E.L.

I use this about 1x / month. It cuts the nose and ear hair.



Being an engineer and having one for over 5 years I know that

one of the problems has to do with the contacts becoming dirty/

corroded. The solution is to clean the contacts thoroghly.

I mean very very thoroughly.



And use a new AA battery. I have even had fine use with a rechargable battery. But I have experienced troubles that were

traced back to corroded battery contacts. I think the reason

for this is that when the metal gets wet it will eventually

corrode.



Also leaking batteries from putting the unit away for a long time

with an low battery will cause damage to any circuitry when a

battery leaks a bit of alkaline material.



Consider complaining to the battery company for this kind of problem.



Overall this unit is exactly worth the price you pay for it.

It does cut my hair which is coarse but I'm Arabic. Maybe a

Black person should avoid this. Or maybe a Blonde person should avoid it. I have not tested it on my friends.



It does tickle the nose. That kind of drives me nuts. But there

is not much to do but tolerate it. It does give a close shave 'up there' if you move it around and around.



Enjoy the cutter. I do.

After searching in the price range of under $30 dollars for a nose hair trimmer I realized that they were all going to be battery powered. I decided to go with this little "bad boy." Let me just start by saying that if you are looking to buy this product, you better have three inch nose hairs because this little device is unable to trim my nose hairs. Basically you have two small blades attached to two plastic hooks. The plastic hooks are spun by a plastic notch (hint: all plastic usually means garbage.) Since it is only powered by one battery it lacks power. Just to see if this thing really could cut hair I tried to trim a piece of hair on my head and just as I expected it whipped the piece of hair around in a circular motion failing to cut it. Bottom line, this is a very poorly made product (Made in China) with a Panasonic logo that should NOT be on this product. I have never purchased anything by Panasonic that was made this poorly.

I've purchased 2 of these over the years. It worked to a point but not very efficiently. You can do better and faster with a pair of scissors, if you know what I mean. They are also very fragile, both of mine shattered into pieces from dropping onto the bathroom floor by accident.

You should think about using eye-watering tweezers rather than buy this product. I gave up using it after the first few attempts because, amazingly, it doesn't cut hair! You spend 5 minutes trying to align each hair so that it will enter the nozzle at the right angle to cut. Even then, the blades tend to push the hairs out of the way rather than cut them. It even managed to scratch the inside of my nose because I was pushing too hard to make it work. A bit of a design flaw for a hair trimmer!

I've tried a lot of different nose/ear trimmer even the lighted Panasonic ER421KC trimmer. That one rips your hair out and runs out of batteries quickly. I did like the trimmers that they show on TV that have a little trimmer on one side but those get disgusting after using them for a while even if you wash them off and they bog down easily. I got fed up and bought this and I was VERY pleased. It is fast and powerful. They use to make a water proof version but I cant find it. Click here for more information I was looking for a cheap trimmer for my beard, which I usually keep pretty short. I bought this without seeing it in a store. I think I had seen that it had good reviews here, and it was under thirty bucks, which I figured was a good limit for something that is only going to last so long. I didn't need anything fancy. I got exactly what I was looking for, but I'm surprised how well it works. There aren't any parts that seem like they'll fall apart, and it's got a great feel in the hand. I like the action on it a lot. My first trim was immediately better and much quicker then the previous trimmer I had (which had died on me). I think this is a great deal for someone who needs an occasional shave of a beard. I really like it. Nothing fancy but it gets the job done very well. I can't think of how it would be better.

I bought the predecessor to this beard trimmer more than three years ago, and loved it. After carelessly dropping my old one I broke it, and am back for another.



Pros:



* Scrolling wheel height adjustment.

----> A very nice feature, the height holds well, unlike some trimmers. You can use pressure against your face and it won't retreat to a shorter height setting that creates a thin spot.

----> After only two or three times, you will know how high you want it. For example, I always trim my beard on a "6" and my mustache on a "4"



* Removable head to trim beard edges.



* Strong motor/ blades provide pain-free trim.



* Holds its charge for a long time. (I charge it full before I travel, and don't even bother packing the charger, because I trust it to function the whole week.)



* Shaver head lifts easily to remove stray hair that gets into the motor area.



* Cordless -> To avoid having to clean the bathroom after a big trim, (If I didn't trim for a week or so) I will take it in the back yard and set it 1 setting higher ("7" instead of "6"). Then I give it a quick hit to get rid of the long hair, and then return to the bathroom to finish the detail work.





Cons:



* It will need a place to lay flat, or a pouch to hang in. It doesn't stand on end, and the charger unit plugs into the base (at the bottom end of the demo picture).



* I did mention I broke my old one. I had removed the height guard, and was emptying the hair from under the shaver head. The pivot is plastic, and while I had it open, I dropped the shaver. It landed head down (of course) and the pivot broke. Totally user error, but it is a weak spot.

Final Thoughts:



I love this thing. It provides a quick clean trim. I would say that it usually takes no less than 3 minutes for a quick trim, maybe as long as 8-10 minutes if I am going to detail the edges after a month of quick trims.



I highlighted some cons for a fair review, but I have nothing against this razor. It trimmed well for three years, and was still holding a charge for weeks when I broke it.



(I liked it even more after trying the Remington PG350 Precision Deluxe Rechargeable Personal Grooming Kit. I bought that quick because I needed a trim, and it confirmed how well this razor worked, and shaped my thoughts for this review. To compare to a bad item, check my review of that item.)

I was about to shave my beard off about two months ago having been feed up with keeping it trim. I used a trimmer intended for hair cutting and it did not work well at all, especially the incessant hair pulls. I noticed this trimmer on Amazon and its good reviews, so I ordered one. I've used it now for the last two months and very pleasantly surprised by the results and ease of use. No more hair pulls and the trimming head never needs lubrication. I especially like the height adjustment mechanism. I've yet needed to recharge it over those two months. I wish it had a charge indicator but nevertheless, given the results, I highly recommend it and have to rate it 5 stars.

This appears to be an updated version of a Remington trimmer that served well for many years.



After a months use, I can report that the stability of the trim length setting has been improved, and the trimmer blades no longer require lubrication. The quality of the beard trim is also improved, allowing for rapid trimming.



If this new trimmer is as durable as my first, I will more that satisfied.

The good: the trimmer works great!



The bad:

1) no charging stand.

2) it has the short life NiCad batteries instead of the more modern NiMh.

3) the recycle law has been met by the letter rather than the spirit of the law. The batteries which will last not much more than 2 years are soldered in. Thus when the batteries go south, you can cut them out but likely most people will not be able to solder in replacements. Click here for more information I've never dared use one of these but finally got tired of stray hairs peeking out. I put it to use last night and it works great. What more needs to be said about a nose hair trimmer??



A little more. First, the light actually is useful...just not when you've got it stuck in your nose cutting hair. Its use is when you periodically need to examine inside to see how you're doing. So spend the big bucks for the lighted model, otherwise you'll have to keep a flashlight around.



Second, when you first get it, it has a light oil film on the cutter. Good for the machinery but not so much for your nose. So I recommend you take an alcohol swab, take the cutter apart like they say and clean everything before the first use.

HAd this about 4 weeks and no problems so far. I haven't dropped it/run over it with a car/fished it out of the toilet, so I can't vouch for its durability. The light is completely useless, unless you need an emergency trim during a blackout. The cheaper Panasonic is probably just as good.



Final word to potential purchasers - nose hair stubble is a completely new experience.

I read the reviews. I expected the pain. Now, I have mastered this modern marvel.



Pros:

- No more commutes with people staring at me while I yank and pinch into my nose.

- If you use it as the delicate work of art it is, it doesn't hurt as much as the yanking and pinch (see my tips below).

- The light IS useful - it allows you to see into the nether regions of your nostrils to catch those that might otherwise show their hairs tomorrow.

- Water proof for your running under the faucet for cleaning.

- Small, lightweight, and neat design (like a mini-light saber to slash through the dark side of your nose)



Cons:

- Not a whole lot of power, but the question begs as to how much power you'd like to stick up your nostrils anyways.

- Though the water proof capabilities allow you to run this bugger under the faucet, your normal faucet doesn't do much to clean it.



Tips:

* Usage:

I've found that this trimmer works best when you cut as if your trimming bushes, not as if you were cutting grass. What I mean is that it would be best if you refrain from just cramming it up your nose. Granted, if you're purchasing this device, you're probably used to just yanking hairs anyways (hence, you're also used to the associated pain). Trust me, if you take it a little at a time, the pain is greatly diminished and the effectiveness of the trimmer is enhanced. Also, use the lamp attached - I cannot stress this enough.



*Cleanup:

After you run it under the faucet, hold tightly, bring close to your body, and then extend your arm quickly towards the sing. You may thus sling debris that may be caught in the water that may be stuck in your device. This works for me and it makes the trimmer more efficient in its cutting.



All in all, I am completely satisfied with this purchase. Additionally, my wife is completely happy that I am no longer leaving long nose hairs on her floorboard during our commute.

I bought one of those $19.95 Chinese nose and ear trimmers that were advertised on TV for a long time, the one guaranteed not to cut or hurt. It took weeks to arrive and last about 6 months. Then I bought one of these.



This model is far more substantial with a good engine and nice cutting surface. Panasonic won't guarantee you won't have an unpleasant cut or two (especially in the nose) but it works well and is not bad in the pain department. Does a very nice job on ears, too.



I haven't used this thing "wet" yet and really can't imagine doing so. So far this has done the job and has been everything it was advertised to be.

This nose trimmer has a nice shape, heft and a cool rubberized surface. It does its job well. Unfortunately, the light is just about useless. First of all, it's not LED, but rather a dim micro flashlight bulb. Secondly, it projects a beam about the size of a freckle. Third, and most annoying, it doesn't shine where you expect it (at the tip of the cutting edge). No, its aimed an inch or two below that. Why? I have no idea. But a dim, narrow beam that shines on your cheek isn't what I had in mind when I purchased it. So, a solid trimmer that gets the job done -- but the light is purely a marketing add on.

wow, the detail over such a little thing. Look, it works great. does the job... no complaints and a hell of a lot better than the crappy ones i got drug stores branded with the name 'conair'. those really stunk. The quality difference is night and day.



And, the light: you aren't supposed to use the light WHILE you are using it. It's for inspection before and after.

Looks well made. Looks well designed. But when you use it, it will pull often, and when it does, it hurts. I tried two of these (this and a cheaper Panasonic), both were the same. Click here for more information Decided to look for a new beard and mustache trimmer when my trusty old Norelco Maverick TX-450 finally gave up the ghost and just quit running. If this sounds like I'm slamming the product, I'm not, as I had owned this basic battery-operated trimmer for over sixteen years - far longer than I ever expected it to last when I first got it. I could have probably fixed it (again) if I disassembled and cleaned it out, but decided to see what might be new on the market. This was primarily used as a mustache trimmer, but after using it for a few years with a handheld comb, was able to do a fair job with my beard.



Was amazed to see how many models were now available, and how many companies were making them. After doing some research (and asking my barber), ended up getting the Philips Norelco G370 All-in-1 Grooming System, and must say that so far this seems to have been a good choice. My barber had suggested that I stay with the more basic (and more economical) trimmers, as most from a particular manufacturer have the same heads as their higher-priced models, and it was the cutting head itself that made a trimmer good or bad. He had suggested that I consider some of the Wahl and Panasonic models, but also had a personal preference for the Philips Norelco products, as they seemed to last... which I had also experienced.



This trimmer has a great array of attachments, and each of them is quite useful, performing exactly as expected. It has an excellent beard and moustache comb/guide with nine locking length settings, as does the hair clipper comb. The little mini-shaver attachment is good for cleanup, and acts like a miniature micro-screen electric razor. Was cautious about the nose and ear trimmer, but after reading the instruction sheet, found that it was easy to master.



The online comparison chart between the various Philips Norelco trimmers is wrong here, as this one does come with a nylon travel pouch. This model features:

Took the time to read the instruction sheet that came with this trimmer, which was detailed but easy to understand. The instructions had indicated that the trimmer shouldn't be left with the unit shouldn't be left charging full-time, which I found to be a nuisance at first. When setting up the plastic charging and attachment stand, found that if it was rested gently above the charging plug, the green charging light was off, so that eliminated that problem. Charged it for the ten hours suggested before using it, and it has worked fine, and a charge last for weeks. The stand itself looked to be a bit flimsy at first glance, but while handling it when I was setting it up, found that it was sturdier than I had first thought. All of the attachments fit easily in the proper slots.



Must note that this unit came in one of those irritating clamshell packages. This one was more of a nuisance to open than most because it was difficult to see if the contents were going to be damaged when cutting through the plastic with a combination of scissors and a sharp knife.

Since we all have different things that we look for in trimmers like this, thought that I might share some of my findings with others here.



Also considered the Philips Norelco G380 All-in-1 Grooming System, but the only difference between this and the Philips Norelco G370 Trimmer was that the G380 came in a gray color and had a travel pouch... which also came with the black G370 trimmer.



Looked at the Philips Norelco T980 Turbo Vacuum Trimmer which was considered for its hair deflector and vacuum, but the price difference was enough to make me go for the more basic G370 trimmer.



The Wahl 9918-617 Groomsman Beard and Mustache Trimmer seemed to be a good one, and its ability to operate cordless via battery or plugged into charger sounded good, and it had good reviews. This was a very close second choice.



The Wahl 9877-500 "The Goatee" Advanced Dual Blade, Rechargeable/Cordless Beard, Goatee & Mustache Trimmer had some interesting dual blades, but the Philips Norelco G370 had more attachments, and the model that I looked at made me shy away from this one.



Had also considered the stylish Panasonic ER2403K 5 Position Beard/Moustache Trimmer. This one features wet or dry trimming, five length adjustments and an excellent price, but since it uses two AAA batteries, decided to rule it out.



In the end, it was my past experience with the Philips Norelco products that helped make my choice, and I don't regret it. If I can get half the life of the sixteen years of service that I got from my original Maverick TX-450, then I'll be happy. - Trimmer - Beard Trimmer - Clipper - Grooming

Click here for more information I have been using a Wahl beard trimmer for nearly 6 years. It finally started to show its age and I went looking for a new one. I tried Remington brand, and they just did not work for me. I have very thick, stubborn hair and the Remmington's blades did not get close enough to my skin to get the hairs I wanted. So I went back to what I knew worked, and re-ordered a new Wahl Beard Trimmer. This one is very similar to my old one, except a few new things. There are more blade guards than before, and the clipper setting now has 6 stages instead of 5. Otherwise, the trimmer is the same.



And that is a good thing. Immediately, the new Wahl made a difference and I am very happy with the results. The reason why Wahl is so much better than anything else (including the Remington) is that the blades that move back and forth as so much closer the to the guard teeth that you can see the difference. Go to a store and look...you can see the difference between this trimmer and other brands. The Wahl will always cut closer and better. There is no other brand I would recommend - Wahl trimmers are simply the highest quality you can find in this price range that give the closest trim on your face.

Pros:



Price.

Charges quickly, and stays charged afterward for some time.

Gives a great trim, nice and neat and no pulling. Has all the attachments you'll ever need.

Easy to maintain and clean up.



Cons:



Attachment system could be a little better, a little tough to get on and off without some practice. They do work great and are easy to use once on, however.



Bottom line:



Great trimmer for a great price, you can't go wrong here. Can use it with the cord or without and works great either way, this thing will last you forever. I'm really happy I picked this one up out of the crowd of trimmers I looked at.

For the cheap cost of this trimmer, you can't go wrong! I love it, the battery lasts long, it comes with tons of clips and the one adjustable 5 setting clip and it's a very nice package for it's price. Very comfy and a nice grip, I look forward to trimming now that I have this wonderful trimmer in my life. I really don't think you can go wrong with this purchase!



P.S. I buy a lot of stuff at amazon.com and I NEVER review it, I suppose it's cause I think it's "too out of the way" to do, but I love this product so much that it was time to change that!

The Wahl Groomsman is a solidly built trimmer, but the plastic attachments are not. I used this trimmer for my beard 3 times before the plastic guide broke and fell off. I could not correct the angle in time and now have no beard! (I guess I won't be needing the trimmer after all!)



Buyer beware! This is NOT the Wahl product you remember!

This is a very good electric razor/trimmer. I was hoping to use it to maintain a stubble look. Unfortunately, the stubble guide keeps my stubble a bit too long for my taste. And just using the razor keeps the stubble a bit too short. If you're looking for a razor that will maintain a "2-day look," this is not it.

It is good only for complete shaving not for trimming.The attachments are so delicate and loose that they may drop in the middle of your trimming process ending you with bald patches.Earlier I had the panasonic trimmer which was quite good with trimming adjustment fixed by sliding above the blade,so no chance of dropping of.

This trimmer works as advertised: powerful, easily adjustable, lasts FOREVER on a single charge and very easy to use. I have had it for just over a month and use it about twice a week.

I couldn't have asked for more from this kind of product.

No complaints about the trimmer itself -- it is effective and easy to use. But the attachments are flimsy and you have to get the knack for shoving them on and taking them off. No instructions are provided for this. As a result I broke one attachment and had to order a new one from Wahl, which cost$5.99 plus and unconscionable $9.99 for shipping! Still the clipper is better than the last one I had.

I bought this not too long ago to replace an old norelco trimmer. This wahl one looked good, but it had too many problems. First, I could not get the attachments on or off. It shouldn't be that complicated. More importantly, this trimmer hurts. It would catch the hair and not cut it evenly. Very disappointed and a waste of money. Back to the Norelco.

First the good things-

1) sharp blades and the cutting edge is close to the skin surface.

2) ability to operate with the cord connected.



The Bad -

The construction (and yes, have no doubts, it is Made in China) is so bad. Though the trimmer feels solid, if you look at the edges, you will see the ugly finish of the product. The plastic with which the guides have been made is not that flimsy(though i dont mean it is sturdy); but the way they have designed the insertion mechanisms and the length selector mechanism is so mindless that the plastic guide will break eventually, like mine did. It is so hard to fix the guide on to the trimmer; and once you fix it, if you want to take it out, you have to use so much force that you will fear if it would break.

The stubble guide also has the same story. I actually injured myself trying to get the thing from the trimmer. It is so damn hard to take it out once you put it in.



I wonder why would they make it this way. Once you break the guide or the beard regulator attachments, the thing is rendered useless. So, why dont they improve the locking mechanisms and improve the quality of the plastic used??? I would strongly advice to try some other brands who give a little more importance to quality and put some thinking into the product!

Ha, the bag is a joke; well, not much complaints here because i dont intend to keep it in a bag.

Then the noise - it IS loud. After using it around your sideburns area, and once you switch it off, you will hear the beauty of silence! But not much complaints here too, because, i think it is standard with trimmers though may not be as noisy as this one.
