Fingerprint - macbook cover, speck case

I bought this case to protect my white 13" MacBook. The case is built specifically for this computer and fits like a glove. It snaps on with ease and protects the outside of the computer from being scratched. My local Apple store did not have a case like this in stock so I went to their website. They did carry the case on the website but it was considerably cheaper on Amazon. I purchased the purple one and it is a beautiful deep eggplant color and the apple logo shines through when the computer is on and lit. The case also came with a soft cloth that I use to dust the computer screen which works well without fear of scratching. I would definitely buy this item again. Wow. This case is awesome. I shall detail the awesomeness below in the form of bullet points:

POINTS OF AWESOMENESS

- Fits *perfectly*; it looks like part of the computer.

- Very easy to get on (haven't taken it off yet, so dunno about that).

- Looks beautiful (it's a fabulous shade of purple). I imagine it would look great in other colors too.

- It has the perfect texture--grippy, yet still smooth and tactilely pleasing.

- Doesn't significantly add to the weight and width, but it is noticeable.

- Doesn't seem to make the battery hotter, and if it does, it isn't significant. I had an older model mac/ibook that would literally burn my legs, and this became my official test of "is this computer too hot?" (3rd degree burns = yes). This doesn't even come close to 1st degree burns.

- I am more confident in the hard shell's ability to protect my computer than a thinner skin type thing would. I can't say that it does for sure because I only recently bought the computer and haven't had the opportunity to preform field tests yet (and by "field tests," I mean dropping it repeatedly).

POINTS OF NOT AS AWESOMENESS

- I don't notice or mind that much, but it does add more to the weight and width than a non-hardbody shell/skin would.

- It seems that lint and cat hair also appreciate the tactile pleasure, as they tend to stick to the cover.

- People might take you less seriously for having a purple computer.

Overall, this definitely wins my official seal of awesome, and is a totally worthwhile buy.

I think it does the job but there is a issue with fingerprints and collecting dust. The product itself seems to do exactly what it is meant for however, I gave it four stars because it does collect a lot of dust and fingerprints and the prices are high for pieces of plastic.

The case fits perfectly on my Macbook unibody. It easily snaps on and doesn't shift. I'm a bit worried about it eventually snapping the plastic around the edges, but so far, nothing like that has happened. The color (purple) is super beautiful and I really like it. It makes my computer look nice, clean, and stand out.

The issues I've experienced are marks left on my computer. There are numerous scratch marks around the edges from the contact with the case. This bothers me because I got it in order to prevent scratches (and dents from any drops). The bottom of my computer got purple circles from the little squishy feet on the bottom of the case. I've sort of been able to rub those off with soap and a rag. The only other thing that has been a nuisance is the fact that the case really adds some weight to the top half of the computer. The screen falls all the way back just about every time I pick it up. It's not necessarily a defect, but it just worries me that I'm loosening something with its constant falling. My friend, who has the red version, noticed last night that two little clips on the bottom half of the case had snapped off and the case is a little less secure.

Despite all that, I really feel it is an excellent quality case. I love the satin finish. I've had this for about 4 months and it still looks very clean, unlike many glossy plastic cases I've seen. I haven't yet dropped my computer, but I feel much safer packing it around in a backpack to classes each day. It's very solid.

It would have been nice to know that the cover doesn't fit previous generation white macbook before receiving it. The cover only fits the October 2009 model and newer versions. I am extremely bummed out.

I bought this case 8 months ago to go with a 13" MacBook. I love the color purple--it's unique, as most people who have this case seem to have it in red or black. My two main complaints about this case are that it has etched vertical scratches around the sides of my laptop, doing the complete opposite of protecting it, and that it does not have any sort of holes on the bottom for heat to come through, which would allow the computer to last longer. If I am going to be using my computer for video chats, for example, I will often feel the need to take off the bottom part of the case so that my computer does not overheat. Other minor complaints about the product are that it is hard to keep clean, gets scratched easily, and picks up marks from hands when touched. Overall, while I do like the color, I wish I'd gone with a different case. - Macbook Cover - Speck Case - Macbook Case - Case
