Click here for more information I bought the Snore-Stopper for my husband. Frankly, the noise was very disturbing. This product is amazing. We followed the simple instructions for fitting the oral mouthpiece to his mouth. The results are really gratifying for both of us. It seems to work by moving the lower jaw forward.

There was a dramatic decrease in his snoring . He keeps the device in all night without difficulty, and also reports a decrease in his usual daytime fatigue. I'm really glad we tried this device,he and I sleep much better with it.

This device works and works well. I am a soft pallete snorer and my snoring has been getting worse the last several months. This mouthpeice has done the trick. By the third night my husband reports, my snoring stopped completely. I also wake up in the morning feeling great without my usual headaches. There is some discomfort in the begining, therefor I would recommend you gradually increase the time wearing from a few hours to overnight. This an amazing product and well worth the price. I wish I had ordered it years ago.

I haven't tried this exact product yet, but due to a snafu this year with my "flexible spending account," I did end up with $1200 I was going to lose, so I sprung for a "professional" anti-snoring appliance. The "pro" ones consist of two hard plastic "tooth pieces" molded respectively to fit your upper and lower teeth and a pair of rubber straps that connect the two pieces. Your dentist creates soft reverse molds of your upper and lower teeth and sends them to a technician, who creates plaster molds of the upper and lower teeth and then creates reverse molds (again) out of hard-ish plastic. These reverse molds snap (at least in my case) *very* firmly onto your teeth. The rubber straps come in different strengths. The object of the appliance is to hold your jaw open and forward to whatever extent is comfortable, safe, and required to keep your soft palate from flapping in your respiratory breeze. Most of you will already know this much, but you might not know this other stuff....



The "pro" appliances could, I imagine, be pretty comfortable if they are done precisely and carefully, but my sense is that most US dental offices don't do this much because at present most insurance plans don't cover them and most people won't pay over a grand for something that might or might not work. Thus, I think a lack of practice might contribute to a shortfall in the kind of virtuosity you see with crowns and other common appliances. Mine is still being fitted by the dentist who worked with me it, but it's pretty uncomfortable, is a struggle to get off my teeth and out of my mouth in the morning, and it actually causes my teeth to move around (or, strictly, I suppose you could say it prevents my teeth from moving around--same net effect--they are not where they want to be). When I wear it, my teeth don't mate with each other for a few hours the next morning, and especially my bottom teeth feel odd for up to two days. Time will tell whether this can be remedied without a total rework, but my third return visit is scheduled for next week, and of course each visit costs me a couple of hours of hassle, travel, and missed work.



I mention all of this to suggest three things. First, that spending $20-40 on a short-term custom solution like this one could be done quite a large number of times before approaching the prices of a "pro" device, so I recommend that you not be daunted by "wasting" a hundred bucks or so figuring out the right boil time, tooth position, jaw position, etc. Second, the short-term solution, it would seem, might give you a better shot at long term dental health because your teeth are able to reset their alternate anti-snoring position every few months when you replace and re-mold. And, Third: if you are, as I am, a person whose snoring is reduced or eliminated by the use of such a device, it's really quite nice to be able to e.g. wake without a headache, spend the whole night in bed with your significant other, etc---so, again, if you "waste" a hundred bucks experimenting, I think that's well worth the money.



Hope this non-review helps some of you. On the strengths of the positive reviews I see here and the cost and complexity of the weaknesses of the "pro" model, this seems like it's worth taking a run at before you jump into anything more expensive.

I have OSA, so I actually own a real medical-need issued MAD. When I lost that for a few days and was not sure when I'd get it back, I bought these as an emergency alternate.



Unlike my true MAD, this product does not split open between the upper and lower jaws. As I tend to open my mouth when sleeping, it was not effective at keeping my lower jaw advanced.



A closed mouth sleeper should get some benefits from this device if the snoring occurs in the thoat.



The procedure to customize the mouth piece was reasonably straightforward, but I was not fully prepared and so did not bite down with my lower jaw extended enough. Practice that motion a bunch of times before putting the device in the hot water and molding it.



The good thing is that this device is not very expensive. However, I suggest buying sports mouth guards at the local sports store first.

Which size are you? Which size is this Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD)? There is one major problem, you can't know without spending money and time wearing it.



Obviously this works for a lot of people, but are you one of them? I wasn't.



It did not work for me. My jaw must be larger than this is designed for, or possibly smaller, I don't know which. This device advanced my lower jaw, but in doing so it put backwards pressure on my upper teeth. My upper teeth were being pushed backwards all night long. This device does not provide any support behind your upper teeth while pushing on them. The backwards pressure on my upper teeth, combined with the lack of support behind them, was causing my upper teeth to be forcibly moved out of position, and it hurt. Eating hurt, even soft foods, all day long. I also had sore jaw muscles on my right side, so sore that I couldn't bite down on the molars on that side. I was taking small bites of food and trying to swallow them whole.



Due to having read the many succesfull testimonials below, I stuck with it for a full week, my mistake not theirs. At the end of 7 days my upper teeth were moving backwards and hurting and were loosening in their sockets, and bleeding at the gums. After 7 days of it getting worse instead of better (I should have stopped after the first night) I finally gave it up. I really wanted this to work.



Then I started looking around on the internet for other devices, hopefully one that could be adapted to my jaw size specifically. Lo and behold there are many many of them out there, they are generically called "boil and bite" devices. They work on the same principle as this one by holding the lower jaw in an advanced postion, BUT, they are customizable to you and this one is not. You drop the "boil and bite" into boiling water and then take them out and let them cool a bit, then you bite down into them, forming a permanent mold of your teeth. They contain two materials - one is a plastic tray (so to speak) that is not softened or changed by the heat. The other is a filler material inside of the plastic tray that is softened by the heat.



When you bite down, you bite down into a channel of plastic material that has been softened and then perfectly form fits to YOUR teeth and YOUR jaw size and curvature and depth of bite. After it cools it retains that shape. Thus you now have not only a MAD that fits your jaw/teeth exactly and precisely, but it also provides support on both sides of your teeth so that any pressure caused by advancing your lower jaw forward does not cause your teeth to shift in their sockets.



Better yet, some of the "boil and bite" devices are about half the cost of this one.



There are various grades of these "boil and bite" devices. Even the cheapest one is going to be better than this product, but there are some out there that are superb. I ended up buying the SomnoGuard AP. It costs about 3 times as much as this device. And after using it, it is worth every penny of it - to me. You may not want or need to pay that much, and you certainly don't have to. I saw a couple of the "boil and bites" for around $30.



The SomnoGuard AP (I am not receiving any kind of kickback, it is simply an honest review that will hopefully help you compare to this model) has an adjustment system that after being adjusted to you by biting into the warm material, also allows you to set the amount of lower jaw advancement using an adustment screw. This means that you can start off with a slightly forward lower jaw and over time advance it gradually so that you get used to it gently. This also means that you can stop adjusting the forward position of your lower jaw, when you get the results YOU want. As in when you are no longer keeping your partner awake, you can stop right there. Or if it takes you more forward ajustment than other people, you can keep moving it until you get there. Additionally you can always warm the somnoguard back up and re-set your bite any you want or need to.



AND, the SomnoGuard AP also allows for side to side movement of your jaws without changing the forward adjustment of your lower jaw. This is WAY more comfortable. Being able to flex my jaws sideways at night makes it a lot easier to handle. This is a big deal.



Bottom line, I recommend investigating the numerous "boil and bite" appliances out there before you purchase this one. This one may work for you, it may not - the problem is how can you know in advance of trying it for a week? Even the lowest price "boil and bite" has advantages over this one. And there are some out there that are astronomically superior.

All right, my first reaction to the cheesy name was the sense that I was about to throw away $60 for a worthless piece of plastic. Still, after being diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea and not wanting to be hooked up to an expensive machine that would make me look like Darth Vader, I said what the heck and sent for one.



My confidence was shaken further when it arrived with no instructions and strange random black bits embedded in its translucent plastic (lousy quality control, guys). I tried it. It had a retaining doohickey that dug into my inside lower gums, making them sore enough that eating an apple later the next day was excruciating. And yet...despite the discomfort, it was the best night of sleep I'd had in years. And no snoring for the first time in years, reported my long-suffering wife.



So, I did what apparently they tell you not to do in the instructions I never got: I took scissors and trimmed the plastic doohickey a little bit at a time until it didn't hurt my gums any more. Voila. Solved the problem. And now, several weeks later, I'm still sleeping deeply without snoring. My patience, concentration and mood are vastly improved, and I believe the apnea is under control.

I'd been using adhesive strips for the past year to allow me, a guy with allergies, to breathe normally and reduce bouts of snoring. This product works almost as well for me, without all the daily unpackaging, sticky glue, and monthly expense.



I have a smallish nose, which fits the clip well, but I have no idea how it might work with larger or smaller noses. If it fits, though, the air flows nicely although I keep the second clip handy at bedside; every other night or so, the clip pops out while I'm sleeping, and I simply reach over and pop in another one if I notice. Just a minor annoyance for me, especially considering the alternatives.



If you give this a try, just be sure to insert it correctly and then experiment a bit for comfort. Mine has never hurt after I figured out the correct way to insert it (the instructions are foggy) and then gave my nose a week or so to adapt. For me, some mild initial discomfort, nothing more, once I learned that the two tiny balls should face inward and not touch the skin. Definitely remember that if you buy. (Better instructions are available online if you Google "video instructions nozovent".)



My only concern is long-term: how long will the clips last? My first pair have more or less retained their shape for several weeks, thus far, but even a slight change can reduce effectiveness. At least they're cheap and come in pairs. Meanwhile, I'm sleeping well, with the added peace of mind that I'm waking my wife less often. It's nearly all good.



UPDATE IN MAY 2010: I'm approaching the end of my second year with this product. I stand by the above review, but I've learned that I can make each clip deliver peak performance for at least a month (when I retire it because it gets dirty despite washing). So one pack lasts me about two months. Here's the simple trick: bending the clip backward (the sides with the tiny balls facing outward) while not in use. I use a twist tie (the type that comes with trash bags) that I've made into a small circle, and I just insert the nasal clip into the circle each morning--with the clip bent backward, the opposite of how I wear it at night. This process takes five seconds, and the clip then regains its original shape and effectiveness before night falls. It's such an easy way to prolong clip life that I have to wonder if the company holds that little secret tightly. Whatever, I do like this product. Maybe you will, too, but needs and noses differ.

My spouse told me I snored so loudly, she was surprised the neighbors couldn't hear it. I went to an ENT specialist, who performed a snoreplasty. That helped reduce the volume, according to my spouse, but it did not abate the problem completely. I don't remember where I initially found the Nozovent device, but my wife is glad I found it. She said it seems to do the rest of the job the snoreplasty didn't do. I find it very comfortable to use. Occasionally I wake up to find it has fallen out, but that may be due to the fact that it has lost some of its elasticity due to constant use. The bottom line is, my spouse says it's worth the price.

I broke my nose years ago in high school and it healed crooked, so I cannot breathe very well at night. In the mornings, I always woke up feeling tired, like I never slept at all. I would sleep with my mouth open and would have a sore throat every morning.

Nozovent has been a godsend. I sleep like a baby, with my mouth closed, because my nasal passages are opened and I can breathe easily and normally with Nozovent. I wake up feeling refreshed, revived and no longer have a dry, sore throat in the morning.

Nozovent is the next best thing to nasal surgery and a lot cheaper.

I have a short narrow nose. I am diagnosed with mild sleep apnea. I used the product and find it hurts. The tips are hard and reach so far up they are extremely uncomfortable. I cut off a tiny bit of the tips with scissors so it didn't go so far up, and it was more comfortable. It still worked. I didn't snore (my husband reports). We also have an oxymeter, and my low oxygen periods were reduced from 20% of the night to 10%. There was another product that worked even better, though. The Clear Max-Air Nose Cones (sinuscones.com) reduced low oxygen to virtually zero and were much more comfortable, but somewhat more expensive ($20 plus shipping). The difference is that the other product is softer and wider and doesn't reach as far up. Size matters.

I have been using Nozovents at night for sleeping for over 5 years now. I tried the strips, but those did not work for me at all because my problem is narrow nasal passages and internal nostril swelling.



It took me probably 3-4 weeks to get used to them initially, as I would have issues with them coming out and having sensitivity inside my nostrils. I found that if they help you, which they did TREMENDOUSLY for me, then it was worth the battle of training myself to not knock it out at night and to let the inside of my nostrils get used to it and no longer be sore.



I CANNOT sleep without a Nozovent in anymore, as I am so used to being able to BREATHE while I sleep.

I used to snore and was a 'mouth breather' while sleeping, but no more! Since using Nozovents, I now sleep breathing through my nose with NO snoring. My gums have completely recovered, and my dentist says he can't even tell that I was a 'mouth breather', which he says is obvious in patients.
