Before wearing this mouthpiece, I would snore rather loud (according to my wife). It did not matter if I was on my stomach, back, or side. I had spent several hundred dollars for a sleep study and to buy a CPAP machine, since I was diagnosed with sleep apnea. The CPAP maching stopped my snoring and helped with my sleep apnea. However, I would swallow air while using the CPAP and wake up with severe abdominal pain. The people at the sleep center refused to turn down the pressure in an attempt to fix this. After over a month of not being able to get a decent night's sleep, I decided to quit using the CPAP. However, I needed to find a solution.



I was skeptical that a mouthpiece would work, so I spoke with my dental hygenist if a mouthpiece could really help stop snoring and help with sleep apnea (my dentist was out of the office). She told me that I could spend nearly $1,000 on a custom fit mouthpiece designed to reduce snoring, but she did not know if it would help with sleep apnea. She admitted that insurance rarely covers such a device, and an over-the-counter device may produce the same result. I was concerned that an over-the-counter mouthpiece may damage my teeth or jaw alignment. She assured me that it would not be harmful, but I might experience some discomfort and jaw pain. She also told me that these types of devices usually work.



I bought the mouthpiece online. When it arrived, it looked rather small. I was still skeptical that it would fit or work. I went ahead and boiled the water and performed the fit per the instructions. Part of the mouthpiece did become somewhat malformed, so I had to re-fit it a second time.



During the first night of wearing the mouthpiece, I immediately noticed that I could breath more easily, and my snoring was eliminated. Since then, however, on some nights, my mouth opens wide enough so that my lower jaw falls out of the mouthpiece. When this happens, I start snoring so that I am rudely awakened by my wife. I am contemplating using a chin strap to prevent this in the future.



I have noticed that my jaw is sometimes a little sore in the morning. The soreness goes away shortly after I have been up and about, so it is just a minor annoyance. Overall, this mouthpiece has been absolutely fabulous.



I would really like to have another sleep study performed with the mouthpiece to see if it is effective for sleep apnea. If anyone reading this has had a sleep study performed using this or a similar mouthpiece, please comment to let us know if this is effective against sleep apnea. My breathing seems to be better, but it would be nice to at least have some medical evidence to back it up.

Received it quickly from Amazon. I was skeptical whether it will work or not, it does work. Here is what I did, a) I boiled the water b) Let it cool for couple of seconds c)Use the wooden stick to put the device in the water for few seconds d) Put the device in the mouth with lower and upper jaw aligned e) Blow air out, push device with your tongue and push in with your hands f) Bite the device but do not bite through the device.

Maybe I have a small mouth, but after I shaped it exactly the way they said i should it was still too big. I'd lay there at night thinking that I was going to stop breathing because it was so large that it would cut off my airway. The concept is good, but execution was poor.

I figured six bucks wasn't a big price to pay for something that might allow me to take a break from my CPAP machine. I knew that if it didn't work, I would be disappointed, but not financially destitute.



As it turns out, I've been using this thing for the last three nights and it seems to be working as a great alternative to my CPAP machine. I may invest in a chin strap as the mouth piece does sometimes become dislodged in my sleep, but the fitting was pretty easy (with instructions in broken English provided for extra hilarity).



If you've wondered if this kind of treatment might work for you, I recommend this (the cheapest mouth piece of its kind that I'd found) before spending big money on similar implements. If it does work, you may find a professionally fit upgrade to be completely worth it. But this is a good place to test the waters, so to speak.

It's too lose around my lower jaw. Upon re-heating I believe it is softer and won't hold the teeth together. Fortunately I didn't waste a lot of money on it. But it's really hard to get the right mold. If you can, I really see how this helps so many. I wish I could get it to work. My snoring is annoying.

I bought two of these, thinking they were different products as there was such a big disparity in price. They are EXACTLY the same and even when you soften them up, they are still like a big rock in your mouth and hard on my teeth. Too difficult to use, so one sits unopened and one is just sitting. Which size are you? Which size is this Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD)? There is one major problem, you can't know without spending money and time wearing it.



Obviously this works for a lot of people, but are you one of them? I wasn't.



It did not work for me. My jaw must be larger than this is designed for, or possibly smaller, I don't know which. This device advanced my lower jaw, but in doing so it put backwards pressure on my upper teeth. My upper teeth were being pushed backwards all night long. This device does not provide any support behind your upper teeth while pushing on them. The backwards pressure on my upper teeth, combined with the lack of support behind them, was causing my upper teeth to be forcibly moved out of position, and it hurt. Eating hurt, even soft foods, all day long. I also had sore jaw muscles on my right side, so sore that I couldn't bite down on the molars on that side. I was taking small bites of food and trying to swallow them whole.



Due to having read the many succesfull testimonials below, I stuck with it for a full week, my mistake not theirs. At the end of 7 days my upper teeth were moving backwards and hurting and were loosening in their sockets, and bleeding at the gums. After 7 days of it getting worse instead of better (I should have stopped after the first night) I finally gave it up. I really wanted this to work.



Then I started looking around on the internet for other devices, hopefully one that could be adapted to my jaw size specifically. Lo and behold there are many many of them out there, they are generically called "boil and bite" devices. They work on the same principle as this one by holding the lower jaw in an advanced postion, BUT, they are customizable to you and this one is not. You drop the "boil and bite" into boiling water and then take them out and let them cool a bit, then you bite down into them, forming a permanent mold of your teeth. They contain two materials - one is a plastic tray (so to speak) that is not softened or changed by the heat. The other is a filler material inside of the plastic tray that is softened by the heat.



When you bite down, you bite down into a channel of plastic material that has been softened and then perfectly form fits to YOUR teeth and YOUR jaw size and curvature and depth of bite. After it cools it retains that shape. Thus you now have not only a MAD that fits your jaw/teeth exactly and precisely, but it also provides support on both sides of your teeth so that any pressure caused by advancing your lower jaw forward does not cause your teeth to shift in their sockets.



Better yet, some of the "boil and bite" devices are about half the cost of this one.



There are various grades of these "boil and bite" devices. Even the cheapest one is going to be better than this product, but there are some out there that are superb. I ended up buying the SomnoGuard AP. It costs about 3 times as much as this device. And after using it, it is worth every penny of it - to me. You may not want or need to pay that much, and you certainly don't have to. I saw a couple of the "boil and bites" for around $30.



The SomnoGuard AP (I am not receiving any kind of kickback, it is simply an honest review that will hopefully help you compare to this model) has an adjustment system that after being adjusted to you by biting into the warm material, also allows you to set the amount of lower jaw advancement using an adustment screw. This means that you can start off with a slightly forward lower jaw and over time advance it gradually so that you get used to it gently. This also means that you can stop adjusting the forward position of your lower jaw, when you get the results YOU want. As in when you are no longer keeping your partner awake, you can stop right there. Or if it takes you more forward ajustment than other people, you can keep moving it until you get there. Additionally you can always warm the somnoguard back up and re-set your bite any you want or need to.



AND, the SomnoGuard AP also allows for side to side movement of your jaws without changing the forward adjustment of your lower jaw. This is WAY more comfortable. Being able to flex my jaws sideways at night makes it a lot easier to handle. This is a big deal.



Bottom line, I recommend investigating the numerous "boil and bite" appliances out there before you purchase this one. This one may work for you, it may not - the problem is how can you know in advance of trying it for a week? Even the lowest price "boil and bite" has advantages over this one. And there are some out there that are astronomically superior.

All right, my first reaction to the cheesy name was the sense that I was about to throw away $60 for a worthless piece of plastic. Still, after being diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea and not wanting to be hooked up to an expensive machine that would make me look like Darth Vader, I said what the heck and sent for one.



My confidence was shaken further when it arrived with no instructions and strange random black bits embedded in its translucent plastic (lousy quality control, guys). I tried it. It had a retaining doohickey that dug into my inside lower gums, making them sore enough that eating an apple later the next day was excruciating. And yet...despite the discomfort, it was the best night of sleep I'd had in years. And no snoring for the first time in years, reported my long-suffering wife.



So, I did what apparently they tell you not to do in the instructions I never got: I took scissors and trimmed the plastic doohickey a little bit at a time until it didn't hurt my gums any more. Voila. Solved the problem. And now, several weeks later, I'm still sleeping deeply without snoring. My patience, concentration and mood are vastly improved, and I believe the apnea is under control.

Click here for more information I have been using this nasivent tube for several weeks now and have enjoyed good results from it. Too little airflow through my right nostril is a key problem for me, so I surmise this product would be quite helpful for people with deviated septums. The Nasivent tube has fallen out of my nose a couple times while asleep, but this is not due to poor product quality, but rather my abnormal nasal anatomy that makes fitting the tube into my right nostril a bit tricky (I have implanted alloderm tissue on my right lateral wall that compensates for a removed inferior turbinate, and the tube bumps into that). If my nose was normal, it would probably fit snug, as it does in my left nostril. The silicone material is quite comfortable and, as soon as I place it in my nose, I can sense the air I am inhaling significantly better. It's like air whips right into my nose.



I use this product in combination with an oral appliance and, together, both have effectively solved my sleep apnea. As a result, my sleep quality is excellent now, for the first time in years. No more guessing on whether I will wake up feeling restful or tired. Rather, I always wake up rested whenever using this combination, and I in fact have found that I sleep better with this than with the CPAP, the latter of which can be noisy and takes much more maintenance. No more CPAP for me!



I highly recommend the nasivent tube.

I was a little skeptical about any product that can cure snoring, but not anymore--this product works! My wife and I had gotten used to waking up in separate beds as I would leave when awakened by her snoring. It's comfortable, high quality and fits well. In fact, we both use them. With 4 sizes in a package, one fits me and the smaller one works for my wife. Now we're both happy and sleeping well--together.

I am a side-sleeper. I have allergies and tend to get sinus infections. I was having trouble breathing through my nose at night. I've felt tired in the morning for years and would sometimes wake up during the night feeling like I couldn't breathe through my nose.



I did wake up a couple times during the first two nights because it was strange to have something in the nose, but after two nights I no longer noticed it.



After the first night, I couldn't believe how rested I felt in the morning. Nasivent definitely helps open the airways more than when I don't have it in. Apparently I hadn't been getting enough air during the night due to blocked nasal passages. Since I've started using this product, I have felt more rested in the morning than I had in years.



Snoring reduction was only a side issue for me as my main concern was trouble breathing at night, but this product has quieted down my snoring. My kids used to say they could here me snoring from their rooms with all the doors closed. Since I have been using Nasivent, they say they cannot hear my snoring. After snoring for years, my wife says my snoring is greatly reduced in frequency and volume, although not completely gone. This product may be most helpful to reduce snoring for people who snore due to blocked or narrow nasal passages or congestion from allergies or sinus infection.



My Ear, Nose, Throat doctor said these are similar to what he calls 'nose cones' which he said perform a similar function. I know this particular product works well for me.



My Allergist also had me try Breathe Right external nasal strips (both 'extra' and regular tan), but after a couple weeks they caused a lot of irritation on the outside of my nose. For me the Nasivent worked as well or better than the Breathe Right strips and the cost of nasal strips adds up quickly since they are not re-usable.



P.S.

Helpful hint - push the tubes in your nose to a comfortable depth. If there is still tube sticking out of your nose, you can trim off that amount from that section of tube. This way the tube is flush with the outside of your nose, which makes wearing it MUCH more comfortable and makes it less likely you'll knock it out during sleep. I've found I can use 2 of the 4 sizes that came in the package, but I do need to trim them at different lengths as the wider size does not go in comfortably to the same depth.

The Nasivent Tube works for me. My wife is pleased and both of us are sleeping better. It is easy to use and not uncomfortable. I would strongly advise anyhone with snoring problems to give it a try.

This Nasivent anti-snoring aid is incredible. My husband loves it. Suddenly he is not waking up to my snoring. It fits lightly into the nose and doesn't fall out. I have tried other devices, and this is the only one that works. Since I often go to retreats where I have to sleep in the same room with a group of people, it is a lifesaver (sleepsaver) for all those who formerly had to stay awake listening to me all night.

This product is the Nasivent Tube, which is similar to the Nozovent strip. Which one you'll prefer may be a matter of personal preference.



The manufacturer claims this product will resolve or treat snoring. i don't know about the underlying causes but it certainly can help.



The product is composed to two short tubes, of differing sizes to fit different nostrils, each pair of tubes connected by a short plastic strip. You place a pair of tubes that fit properly into each nostril and they hold open you nasal passages to improve the flow of air, particularly when sleeping. I'd been using adhesive strips for the past year to allow me, a guy with allergies, to breathe normally and reduce bouts of snoring. This product works almost as well for me, without all the daily unpackaging, sticky glue, and monthly expense.



I have a smallish nose, which fits the clip well, but I have no idea how it might work with larger or smaller noses. If it fits, though, the air flows nicely although I keep the second clip handy at bedside; every other night or so, the clip pops out while I'm sleeping, and I simply reach over and pop in another one if I notice. Just a minor annoyance for me, especially considering the alternatives.



If you give this a try, just be sure to insert it correctly and then experiment a bit for comfort. Mine has never hurt after I figured out the correct way to insert it (the instructions are foggy) and then gave my nose a week or so to adapt. For me, some mild initial discomfort, nothing more, once I learned that the two tiny balls should face inward and not touch the skin. Definitely remember that if you buy. (Better instructions are available online if you Google "video instructions nozovent".)



My only concern is long-term: how long will the clips last? My first pair have more or less retained their shape for several weeks, thus far, but even a slight change can reduce effectiveness. At least they're cheap and come in pairs. Meanwhile, I'm sleeping well, with the added peace of mind that I'm waking my wife less often. It's nearly all good.



UPDATE IN MAY 2010: I'm approaching the end of my second year with this product. I stand by the above review, but I've learned that I can make each clip deliver peak performance for at least a month (when I retire it because it gets dirty despite washing). So one pack lasts me about two months. Here's the simple trick: bending the clip backward (the sides with the tiny balls facing outward) while not in use. I use a twist tie (the type that comes with trash bags) that I've made into a small circle, and I just insert the nasal clip into the circle each morning--with the clip bent backward, the opposite of how I wear it at night. This process takes five seconds, and the clip then regains its original shape and effectiveness before night falls. It's such an easy way to prolong clip life that I have to wonder if the company holds that little secret tightly. Whatever, I do like this product. Maybe you will, too, but needs and noses differ.

My spouse told me I snored so loudly, she was surprised the neighbors couldn't hear it. I went to an ENT specialist, who performed a snoreplasty. That helped reduce the volume, according to my spouse, but it did not abate the problem completely. I don't remember where I initially found the Nozovent device, but my wife is glad I found it. She said it seems to do the rest of the job the snoreplasty didn't do. I find it very comfortable to use. Occasionally I wake up to find it has fallen out, but that may be due to the fact that it has lost some of its elasticity due to constant use. The bottom line is, my spouse says it's worth the price.

I broke my nose years ago in high school and it healed crooked, so I cannot breathe very well at night. In the mornings, I always woke up feeling tired, like I never slept at all. I would sleep with my mouth open and would have a sore throat every morning.

Nozovent has been a godsend. I sleep like a baby, with my mouth closed, because my nasal passages are opened and I can breathe easily and normally with Nozovent. I wake up feeling refreshed, revived and no longer have a dry, sore throat in the morning.

Nozovent is the next best thing to nasal surgery and a lot cheaper.

I have a short narrow nose. I am diagnosed with mild sleep apnea. I used the product and find it hurts. The tips are hard and reach so far up they are extremely uncomfortable. I cut off a tiny bit of the tips with scissors so it didn't go so far up, and it was more comfortable. It still worked. I didn't snore (my husband reports). We also have an oxymeter, and my low oxygen periods were reduced from 20% of the night to 10%. There was another product that worked even better, though. The Clear Max-Air Nose Cones (sinuscones.com) reduced low oxygen to virtually zero and were much more comfortable, but somewhat more expensive ($20 plus shipping). The difference is that the other product is softer and wider and doesn't reach as far up. Size matters.

I have been using Nozovents at night for sleeping for over 5 years now. I tried the strips, but those did not work for me at all because my problem is narrow nasal passages and internal nostril swelling.



It took me probably 3-4 weeks to get used to them initially, as I would have issues with them coming out and having sensitivity inside my nostrils. I found that if they help you, which they did TREMENDOUSLY for me, then it was worth the battle of training myself to not knock it out at night and to let the inside of my nostrils get used to it and no longer be sore.



I CANNOT sleep without a Nozovent in anymore, as I am so used to being able to BREATHE while I sleep.

I used to snore and was a 'mouth breather' while sleeping, but no more! Since using Nozovents, I now sleep breathing through my nose with NO snoring. My gums have completely recovered, and my dentist says he can't even tell that I was a 'mouth breather', which he says is obvious in patients.

Click here for more information I was in the market for a stop snoring mouthpiece and had been looking at a another brand of mouthpiece that cost twice as much as the SnoreMeds mouthpiece. I decided based on price to give the SnoreMeds mouthpiece a go. Ordering problems aside, I love this mouthpiece. It does what it says.



Molding the mouthpiece is a tiny bit tricky and I did mess mine up just a tad. I fixed it with a razor blade in about a minute. On the first night I wore it through about half the night before taking it out due to tooth pain. I put it back in for the last couple hours of sleep. The tooth pain was caused by problems in the molding process which was my fault but hard to prevent. After the first night my wife was blown away. She had trouble sleeping cause she thought I was too quiet. That I had stopped breathing because I wasn't snoring.



I've been using it now for several weeks and have grown very much used to sleeping with the device in my mouth. My teeth still hurt just a tad when I wake up but that goes away quickly. I have had no jaw pain as I have read can be common with these types of devices. I still snore every once in a great while but I'd say 90 to 95% of my snoring is gone.



One big drawback with this type of product is that it can allow me to snore. It's not really the device's fault though. About four days into this I got a cold. This made me open my mouth to breath. The mouthpiece does have an opening in it so you can breath through your mouth but when I opened wide enough my teeth would fall out of the device allowing my haw to return to it's normal position. Hence the snoring would begin. Once my cold went away I went back to breathing through my nose or my mouth but with it only slightly open.



I plan on using this for a long time to come. It's hard to price on my wife being able to sleep in the same bed as me and not cry all night because she can't sleep. I am truly happy with this mouthpiece.

If you were considering buying this product, then you know that stop snoring required moving forward your lower jaw to open up the air passage in the back of your throat.



The Snore Med requires to move the lower jaw forward passing the upper teeth, and bite down onto the mouth piece to form a guard that locks the lower jaw in a forward position. This position is an un-natural position for the lower jaw. As a result, during a sleep, the lower jaw became relax and tried to reverse back into its natural position. Since the mouth piece was locking your jaw in place using your teeth, the teeth lean hard against the mouth piece and become mobile.



I used this product for six months and have stopped using it following my dentist recommendation. My dentist found that both of my upper and lower sets of front teeth were all mobile (rocking back and forth).



After each night of wearing this product, I experienced pain and misalignment of the bites. Since there was a real benefit of stop snoring, I continued to use the product without realizing a long term negative effect to the front teeth from both upper and lower rows.



Be cautious and see a dentist after a few days of usage of this product to make sure that it is safe. There may be alternatives that a dentist can recommend which is safe and effective for your snore.

I bought this stop snoring mouthpiece last month and it has reduced my snoring considerably. I use to wake up feeling tired but now I have more energy during the day. It was easy to mold to my mouth using hot water. Once I got use to wearing it I was able to sleep through the night without any problems.

This thing works as advertised for me. One thing that is an issue - I do wake up with a bit of a stiff jaw every morning - I haven't gotten used to it with time. The stiffness goes away within a couple of hours of waking and this is a minor inconvenience & worth it for me (and mostly for my wife).

Reporting after three days use; I wanted to wait at least a week before reviewing this item, but couldn't. Was realitively simple to fit to mouth, (follow the direction to the letter), and worked first night. Wife said I had one small snore episode the first night. After that she said she doesn't remember, she was SLEEPING.

My jaw takes only about fifteen minutes to return to normal and I had very minimal discomfort in the morning, (fifteen minutes at most, both teeth and jaw).

Don't get me wrong, when you take it out in the AM, you can tell you've been wearing a mouthpiece, but the feeling goes away quickly, (at least for me).

For the price, it's definitly worth a try, (should have done it sooner).

I am so glad to have found this product. It really works for me and is definitely a quality of life improvement for me and my wife. And I am very happy with the price. If you are looking to solve your snoring problem this is a good place to start.

Couple of things about this product:

1. It is very easily molded to the shape of your mouth. You just dip it in boiling water for 12 seconds, mold it to your mouth then dip it in cold water to set it. And, the big thing about this mouth piece as compared to another that I tried is that you can re-mold it. You can give it a try for a night or for a few nights and if the fit isn't comfortable you can re-mold it. so it isn't wasted if you don't get it right the first time.

2. It works by pulling your bottom teeth (jaw) slightly forward and this is how you mold it - you pull your jaw slightly forward and set it in place. Experimenting with this forward distance is why you might need to re-mold it. And... my teeth are a little bit sore in the morning and this is from the pulling action - but it is minor and worth the quality of life improvement to myself and my wife.
